I mean, if you were to pick one fcs program from the last 10 years to go FBS you’d be hard pressed to find an overall better candidate than JMU. They’ve got it all. Stadium, location, support, tradition, etc. Sam Houston on the other hand didn’t pass the eye test to me. The only thing they have going for them in being located in Texas. All other aspects seemed fcs at best.

They do but sometimes it just doesn’t show in practice which makes it hard on the coaches. Hell, Tom Brady’s first college pass was a pick 6. Also with their jobs on the line I’d bet a lot of coaches are weighing the down sides with extra weight to be conservative. That makes their threshold for yanking a qb totally different than a fans regardless of how knowledgeable that fan is or not.

The truth is we don’t know what we have in Feeney until he has the opportunity to sink or swim. Some guys are just gamers.

FWIW their best defensive player wore cleats and wasn’t the only guy. I do think it was a big mistake by us but didn’t account for the clear lack of fire. We laid down and it wasn’t because of the cleats.

Saban has a set of clangers though. There’s a reason he’s built championship squads at multiple schools. Still salty he left LSU.

Nothing motivates guys like the bench. Stabler was a dog though and his team knew he was a warrior. I have my doubts that Tommy moves the needle for his teammates like that and the record shows it. Have we had any comebacks with Tommy?

It wasn’t 100%, looked like some of their guys had cleats on too but we had a lot of, probably most, guys in cleats. Looks like almost nobody for Weber wore cleats fwiw, and I know I’ve seen NDSU with turf shoes on in that building instead of cleats.

Many teams wear turf shoes at UNI and some even at USD. It’s not a new thing either. The staff has experience from playing there with SIU.

Pretty obviously that Tommy would start the second half. As that half went on though, he just still wasn’t getting it done. Bubbas just not the kind of coach to pull a qb like that I guess. Wish he had a little more of that Dean Blais in him. A little gambler in him.
