Bottom line is that BC hasn't won a title since '12, they may never win another. Yale is the reigning champ right now.

The reason SJHovey's point is very relevant is because so many people have been trumpeting Scott Sandelin as a model coach. Eaves and Sandy have experienced similar success over the last 10 years, and each has one a single NCAA championship. Granted Duluth and UW fans may expect different things, it is interesting conversation, and I don't think anyone had mentioned Eaves yet.

I agree, but in this case we're looking at fans of the hockey program, specifically the USCHO UW fan thread. So basically, the general view of UW hockey fans on USCHO was that Eaves' teams underachieve. This doesn't necessarily reflect the general Wisconsin population. I like Eaves as a coach, and others could argue for the underachieving by saying exactly what MM did.

Whatever coach of CC's runs the pp, let's mimic him. No matter how crappy they are as a team, their powerplay is a thing of beauty.

Size might be the difference as well. It looks like Canada has a lot more size overall, especially up front.

I didn't watch closely enough because I'm at work, but it sure looked again like the US team was completely gassed through most of the 3rd. That's what let Canada back in during the round robin, and in 2010. Did they not roll all lines? Canada had much better legs through the end of the game. Still very sad to see the penalties decide the game.

I think we can all agree that the winner of the Frozen 4 rarely indicates the best team in college hockey. To win a title, you have to win 4 games in a row against good competition. Was Yale the best team in the country last season? UMD in 2011? That's where a bit of luck is involved. This years team differs a little from the past few because they have a full contingent of puck-moving defensemen. They can all skate very well, and moving the puck out of the zone is more consistent as a result. The forward crew is definitely missing the likes of Miller, Matteau, and Koules. But where they lack high end skill, by the end of their college career I hope they make up for it in heart and work ethic.

Every team runs the dump and chase when the situation calls for it. As long as the coach and his "systems" take the blame for failures, they deserve some credit for successes.

3rd consecutive Olympics without a medal for the Russians...so I don't think they went in thinking it would be a cakewalk. But home country advantage along with one of the more skilled teams in the tourney means this was a big disappointment. Happy for the Finns! Rask is a beast.

Big time save by Bob on the 2 on 1! Finland keeping 4-5 in the neutral zone and back unless they have an odd-man situation.

I enjoy how Hak gets little to no credit for a win like that because "he loosened the system" or "let them free skate." I'd say it was more a result of the major motivator for the players to right the ship on Saturdays and Miami completely tanking. The Sioux players weren't frustrated and I think were more able to take advantage of their system as intended.

Denver pulled Marc Cheverie twice Jan 23, 2009. Pulled early in 1st, put back in to start the 2nd, then pulled again in the 3rd. Fun game to watch live! Regarding Miami, they sure look like they're buying into their record. It's a shame for such a talented team to fall so far. Still, several more talented Sioux teams in recent years completed less sweeps in a season than this team. If they can find a way to generate offense on a consistent basis, they could be just as scary as anyone going into the tourney.

A better answer is that there are occasionally student tickets left over. If there are, they're usually released the Thursday before that weekend's games. This has been going on for years. I'm not sure what has changed since the early days of the new Ralph (when they were all season ticket packages, and required ID.)

I think that dog of a performance last Saturday came at the right time. The way Miami struggled, I've said for weeks that they'd find a way to right the ship when they come to the Ralph. Now I would hope we'll see two desperate teams out there.

I understand the religion comment, but if you've ever seen or heard an interview with Rocco you'd think otherwise. He has a tendency to be too hard on himself. And considering his commitment after his injury and red shirt, I would believe his work ethic is right up there where it needs to be.
