You have no idea what to expect for a BSC championship, as it hasn't happened yet.

The MJ guy sounds like an idiot.

Napoleon complex, or "short man syndrome", is a pejorative slang term describing a type of psychological phenomenon which is said to exist in people, usually men, of short stature. It is characterized by overly-aggressive or domineering social behavior, and carries the implication that such behavior is compensatory for the subjects' stature. The term is also used more generally to describe people who are driven by a perceived handicap to overcompensate in other aspects of their lives.

Should be a good one and I'll be happy to be at the Betty tomorrow sipping on an adult beverage.

There's gfhockey's first post. Please explain how I spun the conversation towards race. Your reading comprehension is the only thing pathetic right now. Have fun at the bizun game tonight.
-
Man, how bad is ndsu really if they got throttled by such a weak UND team?
-
I agree with geaux_sioux and Teeder's posts. There is a definite cultural difference between Chicago/Minneapolis and Grand Forks. You said you agreed with his racial remark (I wasn't the one to bring race into the conversation) and then pointed out that cultural factors also play a role. If you want to point out cultural factors relative to where someone is from that's fine. I'm not very PC and am definitely not a liberal or anything else you'd like to throw at me, however, anytime you start off a post, as gfhockey did, with "I don't wanna be labeled a racist or anything like that BUT" you should probably just quit talking. Anytime you agree with a statement that started that way, you may want to rethink things. Moving on....... let's get a coach hired and stop the exodus.
-
Ok, you must not have seen gfhockey's original post. He tried to point out that most of the players leaving weren't white. What trend are you talking about?
-
One question I have about both of them is who their staff would be. With Bubba's added experience, I've gotta think he's got a better network for potential assistants than DeBoer does.
-
It shows a certain lack of class normally reserved for Lakes and his ilk. If players want to get after each other that's great, the fans should remain on the sideline and cheer on their guys.
-
Especially when said UND team didn't have its best player..... and SDSU still had theirs.....
-
You're agreeing that a person's race determines their likelihood to transfer from the team? That's ridiculous.

He didn't leave to become DC at UMD, he left to become a HEAD COACH. Now am I saying he'd stay even after going undefeated for 3 straight years? Of course not. But, like Bohl at ndsu, it would take more than $25k to make him leave.

The primary negative I come up with is the "University of Phoenix" but it doesn't seem like too big a deal to me. It will also convey warm thoughts to recruits and potential students rather than frigid ones
-
He was an assistant coach at UND for a decade prior to getting the DC job.

Even if we go 1-11 in 2014, I won't say it's a failure by Bubba/DeBoer. He gets 4 years minimum from me to get us to an 8-4 or 7-4 season. My only hope for next year is we finish better than we start and don't quit when we fall behind. I expect most teams to have more talent than us next year, but they better not have more heart. All of this has got me thinking of a new nickname for our sports teams. With our football (Sioux Falls), MBB (Mayville St), and soccer (winless) teams all having hit rock bottom in recent years, I believe all of them are on/soon to be entering a path back to the promised land. MBB should do well this year, Soccer hired a new coach who seems like a good one and got their first win in years, and football will be hiring a new coach and washing away the Muss stain. Volleyball and Women's Hockey have risen from the ashes to become great teams and Men's Hockey rises from the ashes nearly every year to make a tournament run. I present to you the University of North Dakota Phoenix! Make the yellow/orange Kelly green.
-
Another big plus I have for Bubba is he was at UND during the late 80s rebuild and led UMD through their transition to the NCC. DeBoer took over an already great (for the NAIA) USF team and was able to maintain it.

Is Stetson Carr planning to join the football team? Maybe he just wants to go to a real university?

Dressler over Hardin every day. Hardin's good but had WAY too many drops and also appeared to lack the physical and mental toughness of Dressler.
-
Agreed. He's a great talent, but quitters don't make all-time lists.

Muss would have a better shot at the UMary OC job.

As far as waiting a week before naming him, I'm guessing most of that was spent on contract negotiations and getting all the pieces lined up (which could take a while when the coach is attempting to prepare for a playoff game at the same time). He handled it pretty well publicly, which is what's important.
-
I'd say no to Muss as OC. Was he a good OC? Yes, but the new coach will not want there to be any question about who the real head coach is. "Need a clean break and can't go back to being just friends."
-
Does he care what UND is doing? Probably not. Did he make a mental note that the open records laws turned it into a circus? Absolutely.
