The 100,000 number is not even close to what it would actually be and has only been stated by a couple politicians (not pipeline execs). The Keystone XL may very well be a good project for some people (Canada and big oil), but it would raise energy prices in the Midwest and would not carry a fraction of the ND Bakken oil Fox News would like you to believe. Instead, it will carry some Saskatchewan Bakken crude. Now, do I think the gov't should block the construction of the Keystone XL? No, I typically believe in free-markets, even when it's not in everybody's best interest. I also believe Walmart is awful, but it doesn't mean I believe the gov't should keep them from opening a new store.
