Haven't looked into it much. It'd be expensive property, but perhaps the corner of Washington and Gateway. Outside of that, there are plenty of rundown buildings/lots the city could buy for a song, tear down, and replace.
I'm not necessarily against art, I'm against the city paying for it. Call me heartless, but I feel it serves no purpose. If they're going to do it, it should be downtown or on University, not next to an events center.
Yes, I had a problem with the Park Board building the wellness center, regardless of public input. I don't support the city directly competing with private businesses.
As jdub pointed out, it appears the wellness center actually may be self-supporting at this point. I still don't approve of it.
There are a lot of donations for the hockey arena and there are no private competitors. It serves a purpose which otherwise goes unfilled. It also gives kids something to do, which, IMO, is the purpose of the park board.
