In 2016, special teams did make a significant contribution to 2 of our 3 losses (Richmond penalty and Stony Brook blocked punt), so I can understand the finger-pointing. But yes, personnel on the field matter.
No Aplin? Not a single projected starting OL currently over 300#. Wilkerson should be running in the red this winter/spring.
Also, outside of Santiago, there's not a lot of speed out there.
If Okpoko doesn't get the late offer from sdsu, were most here even that excited about him? It seems most here base their entire opinion of a recruit on who else wants him.
From the live chat, it looks like the coaches are focusing on landing guys at CB, DL, RB, TE, and QB for the February signing day. Also looks like they're pushing for some guys from Colorado and Missouri.
