  1. I bought it last night, but am not going to buy it again tonight. The image pixilated a lot and was pretty choppy.
  2. Too bad. I was looking forward to a newly minted Rosen corner.
  3. I doubt they will have a problem getting to Grand Forks. Boston Logan cancelled flights on Monday and for this morning, and people on those flights were rescheduled for Wed and Thurs. People with already existing flights shouldn't have a problem getting out. The major concern is flooding at the NYC airports, but I doubt their flight goes through New York.
  4. Does this mean that the web feed will also be in HD for those of us out of the local viewing range?
  5. Their subscription to the Forum has already been cancelled to protect their delicate feelings.
  6. But it would be kind of funny if a condition of probation was that they couldn't leave the state.
  7. For the same reason basketball schools keep hiring Calipari.
  8. "Drinking...No. But, drinking and driving is 1 million times worse than what was done here. I realize it is technically true, but to even call this voter fraud suggests they purposely tampered with an election. It was an innocent mistake that they will be punished for." Forgetting to buy milk at the store is a mistake. Forging signatures on a legal document is a deliberate act. Whether they intended to change the outcome of the election is irrelevant. They were paid to gather signatures; they defrauded their employer and denied all citizens of North Dakota the right to vote on the referendums. Should they be kicked off the team? Probably not, but to argue that it was an innocent mistake defines down any notion of personal responsibility to the point that it is meaningless. Life is full of choices; they all have consequences.
  9. Given that Rand also wrote an extensive political philosophy, headed a political movement surrounding that philosophy, think tanks have been established to propagate her philosophy, and a large number current leaders including Alan Greenspan and Clarence Thomas have referenced her as one of the most influential philosophers in their lives, it's more than just a novel. Rand herself argued that art was the most effective means of transmitting a political philosophy. Her philosophy breaks down to greed good, altruism bad. she railed against many of the safety net programs that were established by the government such as social security and medicare, but enrolled in both at the end of her life; although, she enrolled in both under her maiden name so as not to tarnish her philosophy. Her diaries also showed her admiration for a serial killer who kidnapped and killed a 12 year old girl. But it's the liberals who are whacky...right.
  10. Nelson recorded 3 shots on goal in two play off games. http://theahl.com/stats/statdisplay.php?type=skaters&subType=1&season_id=39&tournament_id=0&leagueId=4&lastActive=&singleSeason=&confId=0 and 5 during the regular season games.

  12. this Sioux fan in Maine was wondering the same thing. Might go through withdrawals with no in person Sioux games for two year.
  13. He was enrolled at UND this past year, which makes him eligible to play in 2012-13. He wasn't allowed to practice with the team, but he could use the facilities.
  14. I don't really understand why Fox North was blacked out in places like Las Vegas, but I was able to watch the game on Fox Sports Pacific in Maine.
  15. Kansas finished last in the Big XII last year and in the bottom half of the conference the preceding year.
  16. As an alum of both UND and KU, I would love to see the two schools play in hockey. However, I doubt it is something that would ever happen unless a wealthy donor ponied up the money with the explicit directive of starting a hockey program. KU doesn't have a ton of spare revenue, and is currently focusing on making its football team something more than the laughing stock of the Big XII. Not much support exists on KUs campus for hockey. When I was there I had to work just to find someone with whom to talk about hockey. As much as I would love to go to a hockey game in Lawrence, it's not gonna happen.
  17. Oh, this makes me sad. We were on the debate team together. From the description in the article, it doesn't sound like he changed too much from college. My thoughts go out to his family.
  18. Nice article about the game and he Sioux nickname from KUsports.com http://www2.kusports.com/news/2011/dec/31/north-dakota-drops-game-nickname/
  19. I've been thinking a lot about a new nickname for UND. People seem to want something that is both unique (other schools don't use it) and relevant to North Dakota as a state. With these criteria in mind, I suggest the North Dakota Forty Below. As anyone who has spent a winter in North Dakota knows, forty below temps are brutal and can be a killer. Also, the most common adjective that I remember hearing people use to describe temps that cold is bitter, which nicely represents most Sioux fans' feelings about having to give up the Sioux nickname. it also nicely aligns with the flagship sport of hockey's origins in cold climates. It has the net benefit of irritating president Kelley's efforts to clean up the image of UND as it relates to drinking...the mascot could be a forty and beer grandma could start drinking larger beers instead of the standard 12 oz bottles. Tongue planted firmly in cheek...
