Would BSU get into the NCAA on a win here? I'm thinking that they are an automatic if they win their conference. Is that correct? I also think that if they win (and UND loses), UND is out of the NCAA for sure (unless they win the WCHA playoff)...

Northwestern, the university (Big 10)...my daughter is here on an audition for the music program...

BSU announcers made it seem like the BSU penalties were undeserved and that the refs gave UND the game...Anyone know if the penalties were soft? According to the announcers, all of the UND penalties were obvious and good calls.

Sitting here at Northwestern in Chicago... BSU's coach is crying on the radio now...talking about how heartbreaking this tie is for them...Heartbreaking is how the Sioux managed to get themselves in that position to begin with...I have tickets for Columbus and if these guys don't start playing with some heart, I don't think I'll be watching the Sioux this year...

I deleted my last post based on your latest reply... However, your statement that football is all that matters goes to the heart of NDSU's problem... Bohl leaving would also be a sign of his frustration and his need to move forward with his own career...it's not really worth debating. His departure would leave a huge hole in an already thin staff. Coaches come and go. Established programs get the best coaches, who then get the best recruits...it goes without saying that the best recruits generally make the best teams and the best teams attract the most attention and alumni dollars... NDSU has a long battle in front of it without conference affiliation...I hope that affiliation comes soon too. Nonaffiliation will be expensive for everyone and dollars that would have otherwise been spent on other programs for all ND schools will have to be diverted to NDSU. If you live in reality, you recognize that money is a big deal - it allows for stronger programs and begins and completes the "circle" I have stated above... NDSU should not have gone D-1 without a conference. That said, we can all hope that you are right and that affiliation will come soon...if not, maybe D-2 won't look so bad afterall as the other less important programs face probable elimination.

If "those schools" is refering to Duke...you need to get out a map...Duke, NC, NC State....all hugely successful D-I basketball programs within 50 miles of each other, maybe a hundred at the most... What with the Bison (non football) playing out of town nearly every week (as a result of their lack of conference affiliation), when do the fans actually get to see them play...if it wasn't for the Forum, nobody would have a clue about their teams except for, of course, the coaches and players...and sometimes I wonder if the players themselves remember being at the games... My original post indicated that I have heard directly from a number of leading TeamMakers that feel NDSU has made a mistake...wait until Bohl's contract expires (at the end of 2006??)... I think it's better than 50-50 that he'll move on (Minnesota might be calling if they don't get that turned around soon)... No conference, no coaches; no coaches, no players; no players, no fans; no fans, no money from alumni....you got it yet???

Right...Let's just say that I doubt that the "media" will be throwing ND's only TRUE D1 program under the bus anytime soon since it is also one of the premier programs in the USA (regardless of whether you can admit that fact). It might interest you to know that other premier hockey programs such as Minnesota or Wisconsin don't have trouble competing for media exposure, even though they compete with professional sports franchises...Only the Fargo Forum would be willing to sweep away a team with a 50 year history of storied success including Seven DIVISION I National Titles and more WCHA titles and Number One National rankings than any other team in the nation... I agree with The Sicatoka, why be a Gonzaga when you can be Duke??? Like it or not, UND Hockey is the Duke of college hockey...

The "bigger and better challanges [sic]" (please note the correct spelling is "challenges") you are referring to apparently do not apply to your men's bb, women's bb or any other programs except football and your "bigger and better" in football is suspect at best. I know numerous NDSU Bison Boosters who now believe that they made a tremendous mistake and have thrown most of the athletic department under the bus...
