  1. Very well done....
  2. I said a few days ago that Sutter screwed up the team chemistry when he pulled Commie for Lydman...the icing was that Lydman played like a guy that hadn't played for six weeks. Sure, he came out steaming, but he tapered off and played like a turd in games six and seven...he turned the puck over two or three times and got pinched a few times too. I'm sure he's great, but he wasn't ready to step back in, especially at such a critical time. The chemistry and mood of the series was already was ahead of him - it'd be like joining a group of friends who've been partying for four or five hours and you're on your first beer... So here's to Commodore becoming a superstar on someone else's team...Good luck Mike and I hope that your attitude and work ethic are rewarded soon.
  3. I think the changes for the last three games have been, at best, a push and I think it spoiled the chemistry of the team and the fans. When Lynman turned the puck over in front of the net Saturday, I just about died. Calgary was lucky to go to overtime. Most players and coaches are so superstitious they won't take their shoes off differently, yet they made a change to the line up with three key games remaining. So I think they should have said "Look, we're making a great run and let's not change things." Instead, they start shifting things around...players start thinking, who's next??, etc. and chemistry is altered.
  4. Well, it looks like Commodore's run is over...Lydman is back in so he's out. He should be proud of what he did and what he contributed. If Calgary wins the Cup, his name will be on it and it will be well deserved. That said, I hope he gets a chance somewhere else. I know Sutter's job is to put the best team he can on the ice (in his opinion), but I wish he would have left Commie in for the duration...apparantly, he is not very impressed with Mike or feels he lacks offensive skills - Montador is still in. I'm sure Commodore has a good attitude about it. Afterall, had Lydman not been injured, he would not have played a minute. Anyone think Commodore has a future with this team???
  5. I also think they gave it to B-hole because he was a senior....which is also BS (IMHO)...that simply doesn't recognize the realities of the college game where players routinely leave early for a pro career...
  6. As I recall, Brandt and JPar both had better numbers for the season than B-hole. I figure the award was for the whole season, not a game or two... And you're citing one game...what about the other previous six they played...I remember two overtime wins, a sweep in Denver (where B-hole was blown off the ice), a win and an overtime tie...unfortunately, a hot goal tender is all you need in a single game, win or out format... He's good, but he's not on the same level as Parise and if you think he is, you apparently spend more time watching the cheerleaders than the players at the games...
  7. B-hole gets College Player of the Year award...I can think of at least two goalies with better numbers. I guess all you needed was to get hot for a game or two... Zack Parise was the College Player of the Year...every time he touched the ice he made a difference...to ignor his talent makes these awards a travesty and a sham and a mockery...they're a traveshamockery....
  8. The announcers commented on what a good game Commie had last night (although in a losing effort, I doubt that he would see it that way), even tho he didn't get alot of ice time. He did look sharper and more energized. I go back to my original comment - he must have been under the weather...
  9. Oh, I'm sure if Commie gets a good, clean whack at him, he'll take it like he did on Hatcher...
  10. Commodore took quite a hit last night...it was a credit to him that he played out to the whistle. I hope he's ok. He didn't play much after that. They showed a shot of him on the bench midway thru the third and his whole face was swollen and his nose appeared to be broken - I became concerned that his facial bones are also fractured - he looked terrible. There was no penalty on Marleau (sp) but it sure was close to boarding. Especially since Commie had lost his balance and was falling down immediately before the hit...
  11. Is it me, or did Commie look a little out of step yesterday. Not just on the blown play around the net, but really the whole game. It seemed like he just out of sorts like he had the flu or something. He sat the last part of the 2nd and the entire 3rd period. In the OT, he took the puck well into the Shark's zone, only to lose it and get caught way out of position - San Jose nearly scored on that play. I hope he comes back with a better game tomorrow night...everyone has their days.
  12. I stayed up and watched the finish...the whistle blew almost simultaneously with Commie's finish on the check. As the video shows, he got kinda wrapped up in the refs and falling bodies and added a little extra after the whistle...but if you watched the game, you know that they were blowing the whistles many extra times because it was so noisy in there the player on the ice couldn't hear them...a penalty under those circumstances would have been a huge injustice...You have to admit that the Commie check was fun to watch...
  13. Bison Sports Center...now there's a venue...you gotta bring your own foam padding or you'll end up with a sores...drink a flat beer and pee in a galvanized trough...very classy...
  14. Things wouldn't be so bad...the arena just wouldn't be there... Sorry Sic...I didn't read your post before I posted this...I agree with you 100 percent...
  15. The Fargo Dome has ice...they've had Mickey and Cinderella there alot...Ice Dancing is its specialty...especially lately since they haven't been able to book more than one real concert this year...
  16. Oh...so we didn't vote on an addition to the Dome for an additional rink, practice facility and lockers, etc so that NDSU could start a Div. 1 hockey program.....I made it all up...sorry...
  17. After we Fargo voters shut down NDSU's attempt to get taxpayers to build them a rink, they vowed that they'd be back. But then Ralph Englestad gave UND the REA and these guys haven't been heard from since... instead, they have focused all of their efforts on moving to D-1. If the hockey rink wouldn't have been voted down by Fargoans, NDSU would have a hockey program today and would still be a D-2 school for other purposes...So maybe Ralph Englestad killed the rivalry... Anyone but NDSU...
  18. Hey guys, the real pain on this new trophy is that the loser has to pay the freight to haul it around...
  19. Some programs actually attract good players...for instance, FSH has an outstanding music program - ranked among the top programs in the nation. My daughter left Shanley (where she lettered in two sports and was a varsity cheerleader) to go to South for the music program. The parallel to the Moorhead hockey program is obvious. Some schools just do things better. I do agree that certain schools recruit, but I think in the case of a school like Shanley, a certain amount of "influence" was dropped to parents in order to kick start a hockey program...I think having hockey at Shanley just means more hockey for everyone - more kids benefit from more programs. Creating excitement for the program during the early years is a good thing - it gives the peewees something to aspire to. Why should any start-up program get "womped-on" for the first 10 years of it's existence when there are good players available to play? Recruiting is not the long-term solution, but then again, if your reputation is Moorhead's, you don't have to recruit...
  20. Wow...you can't be for real...but alas, ALL of the attorneys and judges in ND were educated at UND (at least we know they don't come from moo u)...I doubt very highly that you'll see someone conclude in favor of the BK Club based on your logic...
  21. Maybe the solution to this is for the NDSU football team and the BK Club to make up a new trophy, say the Chicken.... Then they could play flag football for it twice a year....
  22. BAAAHHHHAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! What a dreamer... You might need to saddle up and come and get it, cuz it belongs to UND period and, in the words of Charlton Heston "Out of our cold, dead hands..."
  23. Hey now, there are some 225 pound members of the Blue Key Club at NDSU...too bad they are all women....

  25. If the Hobey Baker award is for the best player in college hockey, then Parise should win it. If it's about politics, etc. then the goalie from Brown will win it, even tho from what all of us have seen of him, he's a sieve and they could have used him for one of the intermission goal scoring contests - at times I doubted whether he could have stopped one of those radio controlled monster trucks... We all love Junior Lessard and if he does win, I'll be able to take it. But Parise was still the best player in all of college hockey this year - IMHO...
