  1. Sample questone, can the Flyers find a goalie that can stop the puck?
  2. That is a fun trip. MC's Dugout and the Hairy Buffalo.
  3. I am a big fan of Thunder the Bleacher Creature.
  4. So, are you suggesting that the AD and the University make student-athletes use the Fighting Hawks name? It doesn't work that way. Especially, with Millennials.
  5. Here's what I would say. many people including myself have all kinds of gear and apparel that we've acquired over the years. If you expect some to just embrace the new logo, you maybe be waiting a long time. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting. You wear what you're going to wear and let people do whatever. It's called the 1A. I did like the new hockey jersey's this season. But, that's just me.
  6. I've attended about 8-10 basketball games this year and from what I can see the Basketball team and fans have transitioned to the new nickname. I know that Bubba and the football team was also on board and their recruits reference the Fighting Hawks when they commit via Twitter. Whatever. Over time, the new logo has grown on me. When I was at the Frozen Faceoff this year, I had a number of writers and bloggers (you'd probably know many of them) ask me why our fans still chant Sioux Forever and Sioux. I said you're going to have to ask them.
  7. @stoneySIOUXI've worn a Hawks hat and Sioux Hoodie. What do we tell those folks?
  8. She's not backing down either. https://twitter.com/NoLore/status/983726291500388355
  9. How the hell can Brian Faison be blamed for this?
  10. I wondering the same thing. The hockey hasn't embraced the new logo, so what? We can't make them promote it or embrace it. The players on the UND hockey team are solid people. Great bunch of guys.
  11. Unfortunately, the hockey team has yet to embrace the Fighting Hawks nickname.
  12. I've been told that UND still honors the GA, look at the other sports like Basketball and Football. Teams recruit players until they sign their LOI. Nothing illegal about it. Is it unethical? IDK?
  13. That's fine, however, the Gophers would be the first ones to complain if teams started picking off their prized recruits. In essence, the "Gentlemen's Agreement" isn't really being honored by everyone anymore. Anyways.

  15. Ha, no... this guy is funnier than hell.
  16. The Grand Forks roads are so bad that every bump you hit registers a step on your Fitbit.

    Sandy?

I am not really good at math, but eight is a lot better than two. They have a lot of catching up to do.
  18. Don’t forget booing the Fighting Hawks nickname.
  19. Google is a wonderful thing. You literally have to live under a rock to not know who Klosterman is. He's probably one of UND's most famous alumni who's didn't play sports. At least top-10. https://www.usnews.com/education/blogs/college-flashback/2008/08/29/chuck-klosterman Yes, although not in the way I anticipated. During college, I was involved with two distinct social groups: a collection of my eight or nine closest friends (who I spent every evening with) and another group of people I worked with at the student newspaper (the Dakota Student). Upon graduation, I assumed the totality of that first group would always remain in my life, because we had a really intense—almost unhealthy—relationship with each other. But that has only happened partially. I'm still in regular contact with half of that group, but the other half has completely disappeared. At this point, I don't even know where some of them live. I think what happens —probably to everybody—during college is that you forge all these unique, hyper deep friendships very quickly, because the day-to-day collegiate experience is constantly transformative, and everyone is incredibly open to thinking about weird thoughts and examining every detail of their life. Plus, everyone is always drunk, so you're often having meaningful, emotional conversations about the nature of existence and who you are as a person. It makes it feel like you're inventing the idea of friendship. But then your life evolves, and you slowly realize that certain relationships were mostly based on the time and the place and the shared desire to be really close to anyone who seems to be similar to you. That's been something of a sad realization, and it probably explains why I like the movie Kicking and Screaming so much. But sometimes the opposite happens. Those people I worked with at the newspaper—who I did not view as particularly close friends during the time we were together—have now become people I communicate with almost every day. The seven of us E-mail all the time and get together once a year. We're much better friends now than when we were at UND. I did not anticipate that at all. What was your favorite hangout spot? We used to go a 24-hour Hardees restaurant on Gateway Avenue in Grand Forks and sit there all night, talking about Nirvana and Mike Tyson and especially memorable games of Dungeons & Dragons. The best bar was in East Grand Forks. It was called Whitey's. We went there every Wednesday. But then Whitey's was destroyed by a fire that happened during a flood. They've since rebuilt Whitey's, and the new building was designed to look exactly the way it did before the destruction. But now it's too weird. Even though everything is technically identical, it feels fake. It looks like someone has constructed the set for a TV sitcom called "Whitey's." It's like getting drunk inside a simulacrum. Were you a bookworm or a slacker? Neither. I did not study very much, but I always showed up for class. A lot of my friends did the opposite, which seemed crazy to me. Who were your role models back then? Axl Rose and Bobby Knight. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in college? I think almost every important idea I had about life changed 180 degrees during those four years, so I suppose the biggest obstacle I overcame was myself. Tell us about one thing you did in college that still makes you proud. I purchased a kerosene lamp at Target. This was during an era when I really liked Primus. I have no idea why I am proud of this. I guess I just like to think, "You know, I used to be the kind of guy who sat around listening to Primus while pretending it was the 19th century." I feel like this is a good indication of what type of idiot I was in 1993. Tell us one way in which college changed you. Prior to going to UND, it had never occurred to me that it was possible to tell a story without a linear narrative. The concept had simply never occurred to me. But once it did, it changed the way I thought about everything. If you could go back, what about college would you do differently? Nothing. I have minor regrets but no major ones. I probably wouldn't have worn a baseball cap everywhere. What were two things you did for the first time while in college? Go to Canada. Eat Chinese food.
  20. Dude you have the intranet you can surely google it. Chuck Klosterman is famous. (Link to site) Chuck Klosterman is the bestselling author of eight books of nonfiction (including Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs; But What If We’re Wrong?; and Chuck Klosterman X) and two novels (Downtown Owl and The Visible Man). He has written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, GQ, Esquire, Spin, The Guardian, The Believer, Billboard, The A.V. Club, and ESPN. Klosterman served as the Ethicist for The New York Times Magazine for three years, appeared as himself in the LCD Soundsystem documentary Shut Up and Play the Hits, and was an original founder of the website Grantland with Bill Simmons.

I’ll drop a name here, Dane Jackson.

    Sandy?

In his new building. UND has missed the NCAA tourneyonly twice in a 16 year period. That’s a record that’s not matched by many teams ar all.

    Sandy?

Seriously, Hakstol is coaching in the best league in hockey and Berry has won an NCAA title already. It took many years for Sandy to win a title. To suggest that Sandy is above these two great UND coaches is a stretch at best. More years than not UMD hasn't made the NCAA playoffs. If Sandy has been coaching at UND and missed the NCAA playoffs 10 out of 18 seasons, he'd been shown the door seasons ago. Especially, with the standards that some here hold the coaches to. UND under Hak and Berry missed them once in 16 seasons.
