Actually if it has done anything, UND has developed a second and third line to be concerned about. The Massen Line has continued to stack up points. Actually Zack has quitely started to rack up the points getting about 4-5 a weekend. So much for him struggling once he gets to the league games... Schnider is starting to rack up the points also...

Husky, I never said I defend his actions, I thought it showed poor judgement. I am not going to call for his head. I actually was woundering what all the commotion was about after the game, you couldn't see the spear from where we were sitting. I do find it ironic that Finger is acting all saintly like he is a choir boy. I never would condone an action to attempt to hurt another player by sticking them with my stick.

Former Dayton goaltender Karl Goehring, a column subject last season, put together a remarkable streak of five games in November where he was 5-0 with four shutouts, a 0.20 goals-against average and a .993 save percentage. Goehring posted back-to-back shutouts on Nov. 9 and 15 and was within 3:14 of his third shutout in a row before finishing with a 3-1 win over Philadelphia on Nov. 16. He then came back in his next two starts and posted shutouts over Albany and Hamilton on Nov. 23 and 24. Goehring was 9-5 with a 2.43 goals against average and a .917 save percentage while helping Dayton advance to the 2002 Kelly Cup Finals. Goehring was 11-9-3 with a 2.24 goals against average and a .920 save percentage in 23 regular season games. ... This is like scarey good eh?

What I wanted to say is now we are going to hear that Canady is a hack on some of the other bulletin boards. I actually didn't see it but wondered why we almost had a bench clearing brawl. Of course I think the last thing we need is Finger giving us a lecture in saint hood. Since Jeff is none of the sort. Here is my take on the whole weekend, the only reason SCCC was close was because of the number of power plays. I never felt all weekend that UND would lose any of the two games. I was disapointed in the 2/3 of Saturday's game. if it wasn't for the power play SCSU woudln't have been that close. I really think SCSU is a one line wonder. I think that if UND played them 10 times they would win 8 games... Just my opinion.

For five years now, it has been a Trail of Tears for St. Cloud State - never more than after Saturday night's 5-4 loss to the North Dakota Sioux before a sellout crowd of 11,487 fans. The No. 1-ranked Sioux scored on their last three of 10 power-play opportunities, beating the Huskies for the eighth consecutive time in Grand Forks. St. Cloud State also fell below .500 for the first time in three seasons, but the blow that hurt the most came when senior goalie Jake Moreland suffered what appears to be a dislocated left kneecap early in the third period. Colin Peters pulled North Dakota forward Ryan Connelly off his feet as the puck went deep on a dump-in. Moreland went out to play the puck and Connelly knocked him flying. Freshman Jason Montgomery replaced Moreland, who was helped off the ice to an ovation from his hometown fans, and Nick Fuher scored the game-winning goal a minute and a half later. "I had no idea he was even coming at me, I just went out to play the puck and then I went up in the air," said Moreland, who said trainers have told him he'll be out indefinitely - until his pain threshold will allow him to resume skating. He vowed it will not end his college career. "I don't even know how I hurt my left knee because he hit me on the right side," Moreland said. "When I tried to get up, I couldn't bend my knee and it was super painful. It's a crappy thing to have happen. It means a lot to be playing back home here in Grand Forks and I wanted to finish out this game." Even without him, the Huskies fought to the bitter end. Freshman Jonathan Lehun scored a power-play goal with less than nine minutes to go, and St. Cloud State had a 6-on-4 advantage for much of the final minute. Sioux wonder-freshman Zach Parise took a penalty for checking Montgomery, but the Huskies couldn't capitalize with an extra attacker. North Dakota goalie Josh Siembida, who made 22 saves, out-raced Huskies captain Jon Cullen to a loose puck as the final horn sounded. As the Sioux poured off their bench, sophomore Brian Canady added insult to injury by spearing Cullen as he skated along the boards. Both teams converged at the Sioux blue line, pushing and shoving despite the presence of the officials. "That could've been real ugly," said Sioux coach Dean Blais, who jumped on the ice along with Huskies coach Craig Dahl and began pulling the players apart. Canady received a spearing major and a game-disqualification penalty, rendering him ineligible for Friday's home game against Canisius. The Huskies felt that wasn't punishment enough. "That was the weakest, most cowardly thing I've ever seen at this level," said Huskies alternate captain Jeff Finger, who raced over in defense of Cullen. "They sweep the weekend and Cully's skating by their pile after it's over and (Canady) spears him in the (mid-section). I lost a lot of respect for that team. I had the utmost respect for them. They were the No. 1 team in the nation. They battle and they're well-coached. But that was a cowardly, cowardly play." The Huskies jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the Sioux tied it halfway through the first period, scoring on two of their first three shots. Brock Hooton earned his first college point when he set up Joe Motzko 5 1/2 minutes in. And T.J. McElroy added his first college goal two minutes later, whacking a puck in the crease under Siembida. The teams traded goals again in a penalty-filled second period. Cullen made it 3-2 on the power play 2 1/2 minutes in. But Brandon Bochenski tied it with his second goal of the game, and 16th of the season, three seconds after a 5-on-3 power-play expired. "You saw the game - there were six 5-on-3's or 4-on-3's," Dahl said, pausing for effect. "In 23 years, I never saw that." Thirteen minor penalties were called in the second, including one on Bochenski that wiped out a goal by Parise. Bochenski tripped McElroy in the left corner just before Parise batted the puck out of mid-air and into the net at 5:13. "There's a lot of character on our team," Siembida said. "Even with all the power plays, we stayed calm. No one panicked." Which is what Dahl says his team mustn't do entering a home series with Denver on Friday and Saturday. "These were two hotly contested games," Dahl said. "They were very close and sometimes close isn't good enough to win. But it gives you an idea of how to play the game and it gives you the confidence that you can play with anybody. I saw a lot more out of our team this weekend than I have in recent weeks."

I agree, with scott. They need to put a handle on some of the students/animals that are out of hand. Most of the students are really great but there are a few bad apples that are ruining it for everyone else, these are the same clowns that are complaining when they get kicked out of the arena for a year. Being a student doesn't give someone a god given right to act like an a$$ holes. Thirdly, being pushed out of the way is actually a form of simple assult, if you want to get technical. IF you feel like your civil rights have been trampled on, file a police report. On a second simular point, start standing up for yourself. Don't let people walk on you.

Gator, The coaches show is on KKXL 1440 a.m. I am not sure if it is on the Web broadcasts or not. But it was only a half hour tonight due to the fact that the Basketball teams were in Moorhead playing the Dragoons.

Some body asked Blais on the coaches show if he would be brining in a goalie at the break and he said no. So that pretty much kills that theory that has been bouned around...

I personally don't like the number one rating but, then again who cares what the ranking says now, it matters more in March and April. However, I feel that UND is probably better than a 7 rating on the power ranking. Personally I think Cornell is ranked too high. We will see. I guess the target is back on the Sioux again.

JBB, Why not Division 1 hockey? I think Division 1 hockey at NDSU would have been a much better idea than this rediculous pipe dream of NDSU playing in Division 1 AA. I hardly doubt that FSU, Texas, Nebraska, Notre Dame is going to come to Fargo to play Basket. A great idea, why not tear down Dakota field and build a 8,000-9,000 seat arena that could be used also a basketball arena for the bigger division 2 college basketball games. The Bison could have played in the CHA for a few years, that way there could have been a few match ups every year with UND and NDSU, what a draw on the ice. The WCHA could have looked in the future to NDSU being in the WCHA. I think it would have been a great idea. They could still play hockey in the Fargo dome for a few years. It could have worked. If NDSU had college hockey team they could have revoted on the Arena issue later in the future after seeing how sucessfull a Division one college hockey program could be. With proper marketing a vote on the arena funding could be successful. A missed opportunity.

I agree with scott, their fans are even more annoying than Minnesota and B.C. fans. I also think that their stupid fans with their annoying names is down right riduculous... I think I dislike the Wisconins fans a lot too...

Actually, I say that I know where they are coming from, some of the things I have seen on the ice this year has been incredible. The chemistry is definately there and it makes you wonder how good they can become once they reach full potential. Most of these kids are only sophs. Think about it. Massen is flat out the second coming of Cam Neely, Noterman is on Fire, Speiwak is making all of the right moves. I think he is skating faster than last year if that is possible. Hale, Schnider, Jones, Fuhr are punishing people. Schnider is averaging a point a game. Greene is getting better with each game, man would I hate to tangle with him. He is down right mean. David Hales fight was a million dollar fight. God he kick that guys ass... Hummmmm... God I love the way the kid plays. I think Matt Greene is better than Commie. His upside is that he is just as mean and skates better. Sorry just my opinon. Lienweber is playing really good. Parise is the best skater I have seen in years he scored a goal while being tackled last weekend. Impressive in my book... Then there is the goal tending...

He who lives in a glass house should not throw stones. NDSU is going to be without a conference. Who is going to take them? I think NDSU's division one upgrade is a pipe dream. They are going to sacrifice the NCC for the presidents grand illussions of some big scheme to make his university look bigger than it actually is. I am beginning to think that JBB is nothing more than a self rightous boob/troll/knuckle head that has nothing better to do than hang out at Siouxsports.com and try to impress us with his Liberal Arts Education, that he is getting from NDSuck. First off I hate the SCCC Huskies as much as I hate the B.C. eagles and the dirty Wisconsin Badgers. Second, I think there coach is a joke, but I like the job he is doing at JBSU so I think we let him stay there. However, since this is a UND web page this type of talk should be expected... I predict that UND will win to very close hard fought games. I think UND is a better team maybe except for Goal Tending, Frankly we suck in that department, we can't put more than two decent games together last saturday Sievbieda had a night of 24/28 .860 percent is not good unless you went to a second rate school but UND is not. So our goaltenders to do better or we are not going anywhere this year. The two horrible young goalie recruiting busts and have been given enough chances its time for them to step up to the plate or step aside and let someone else play. Jake is better than Josh but thats not saying much. Sievbieda flops around on the ice like a musky out of water he is laying on the ice before the oppostion even shots the puck, I am not sure what Blais saw in the kid but he sucks period. My wife made the statement that these kids were like Toby, I said Toby was a lot better than those two clowns. I long for the days of Toby we must not be very good in net... (I am going to go on the record and make a prediction that Brandt or Sievbieda will be gone next season). Back to this weekends games I predict that Finger will get hammered by Matt Greene or Prpich. There will probably be a fight or two. I pray to god that someone in Sioux uniform that is a goalie will some how play better. Well lets see it started out as a scrum in front of the net and then hale and Ryan McKelvie were tied up and then the gloves came off, Hale ripped number Ryan McKelvie's helment off and then Hale pummeled Ryan McKelvie. I wasn't even close he smoked Ryan McKelvie like 4 times right in the face. I think this was Hales first ever fight at UND. It was rumored that he was a good fighter in Jrs this just proves that point... This fight was can we say a brooks and Commy type fight one was an instigator and then that person turned into a punching bag. Once hale droppedRyan McKelvie to the ice he hale hammered him a few more time on top of the head. The fight was killer you know. The place went nuts. You know scarey good fight... Pcm, if you have pictures that would be cool. My wife asked why don't they stop it and I said do you want to get between those two big guys. Nope...
