  1. That logic is flawed since the when the Olympics were played with quote amateurs the Soviet Red Army was anything but amateurs. A lot of their guys were in their late 20-30's and played many (100's) games together as a team, they were in essence professionals because they joined the Soviet Red Army (Symbolically, they were part of the state and in stead of being a soldier their job was to play hockey for their country) and concentrated on hockey only and they left their familes behind to train. Hardly amateurism.
  2. Please, please... Your speaking like a true Detroit Redwings fan. Boston is loaded and ready for the playoffs. Boston has one of the best line in hockey aka the 700 pound line. Boston had great big monser defensemen just like UND with two mobile defenseman to bring the puck up ice and run the power play. Slegar and Gonchar. The only question mark I see is Goaltending and Raycroft is awesome when he needed to be.
  3. The Boston Bruins are going to win the Stanley Cup this season. Second choice is the Colorado Av's... Detroit is going to be lucky to get to the Division Semis.
  4. This really burns my ass when these kids leave college early to pursue the big bucks and then don't get to play in the NHL, or get a small cup of coffee, Ala Bayda, Lundbohm, I am assuming that Zach signed take the money/signing bonus, once he signs there is now way he can play in college again. Why doesn't Zach just take Rassmussens place in the line up or number 9 he did little today.
  5. IN watching today game between the Devils and the Bruins, I was wondering who Zach would replace if he was to be inserted in the Devils line up. I suppose barring injury we might not see Zach. If the Devils play the Bruins I am hoping the Bruins are just able to beat the Devils with or without Zach in the line up. Only time will tell I guess.
  6. I would imagine that Ryan is going down to the minors for the playoffs since Carolina isn't going to be in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
  7. Even being a Republican/Conservative I don't mind Chad Hartman's radio show, its ok and talks about interesting issues.
  8. Well I hope not because it either means that the Bruins or the Av's didn't win the Stanley Cup.
  9. I have to agree with touching awesome post. You right good things happen in October, both happen about the same time: the return of Fighitng Sioux hockey and my favorite time of the year Ducktober. Touching post, that probably only a Sioux fan would understand. My family most of them Goofer fans don't understand why UND fans take Sioux hockey so seriously. For all of us that live in ND full time, its the only thing that is going on in the winter. Especially next year if there is no NHL season. I actually blame the owners for this, they are the ones that created this mess. This season was one of the most exciting seasons of UND hockey ever for me, I have been a fan since 1991. I would have to say honestly even over 1997 and 2000. I really felt the boys had a great chance to win an 8th NCAA title (Wait till next year). The 2003-2004 version of the Fighting Sioux did hang an unprecedented 12th WCHA Regular Season Title, I think that is the most of any team in the league. I believe Blaiser's 5th as a head coach. What was so exciting was that this team ability to score goals in bunches, the money line, Lundy's line. The 2003-2004 version of the Sioux had brusing defense and could kill almost any 5-3 penalthy kill they had thrown against them. The Sioux also got great goaltending and lit up a few good ones along the way. However, their season fell short by two games, as I sat there in my basement in disbelief, I felt as if the Sioux had lost a game they deserved to win and had no business losing, I still feel some lose one week later. The best team doesn't always win, ala Brendon Morrison. I am still saddened by the early signing of Zach Parise, more so because we will never be able to hear Hennen say, "Heres your University of North Dakota Fighing Siiiiiiiioux scoring, Number 11 ZACH PARISE"... But also because he now plays for the New Jersey Devils a team that a division rival of my favorite NHL team the Boston Bruins, thats almost like playing for the Habs in my book.
  10. He wasn't good enough to crack the line up. Played in about 6 games and didn't come back either after break or after the year. Kind of like Jeff Yureko.
  11. Maybe he has some information from one of his many sources he always seems to site. Who knows with this bubbling fool.
  12. Kerry is already starting to fall in the polls, don't bet the farm on John Kerry overtaking Bush to be our 44th President. You also forgot the weapons of mass destruction. I am sure along with UBL will be a mountain/stack of weapons.
  13. I would be willing to bet that Stafford will wait one more year since the CBA situation is going to throw a monkey wrench into the next NHL season being cancelled if the owners and the players don't come together and get an agreement done. From what I have read the Players and the Owners are miles appart.
  14. I would have to agree with Zach winning the award with Junior getting second.
  15. I spent quite a bit of time in Minot during the last couple of years and I always thought Minot was a nice city. Caught one of the biggest walleyes I ever seen through the ice on a lake north of the Minot Air Force Base (I want to say lake Sarah).
  16. Sounds like Radke is a solid player.
  17. Thats awesome, your kids is growing up a serious hockey fan, now if we can get him to follow a different team than the Sabres. Does he like the Wild?
  18. Thats if Greene doesn't leave for the NHL. I am hoping he doesn't.
  19. Seen that too, nice goal by Ryan, good news the Bruins still won the game. Joe Thornton had an awesome goal.
  20. Speculation according to the Red Star and Sickle is that Zach could make his debute against the Boston Bruins.
