  1. Although I am not opposed to the name Oilers, I think the majority of people are pushing towards either Rough Riders or Outlaws. A few more names have hit the drawing board but those seem to be the most popular on here thus far.
  2. Hmmm..... I believe they were doing what they thought (and maybe still feel) was in the best interest of the men's hockey program. Who knows, we may all be wrong and the NCHC goes on to become the premier destination for college hockey. But you have to admit, it is far from a dream conference.
  3. Honestly, if the NCHC hadn't been formed UND would most likely be playing all the aforementioned schools all in one conference. I believe that when the NCHC was originally formed they wanted to have UND, DU, Miami, Notre Dame, BU, BC, and Air Force (i'm probably forgetting at least one or two more schools). Now that would have been a fierce, BTHC killing conference with high visibility. Unfortunately, now we have a conference that is better than the WCHA but has a terrible tv package plus a very undesirable program like St. Cloud in it's midst. I'm definitely not advocating for the boycott of the NCHC, it's what we have and we have to go for it, I just wish UND and DU would have measured twice and cut once before creating a new conference.
  4. We should have just stayed in the WCHA, added Miami, and called it a day. UND would have had a better tv deal (in terms of exposure), and still be playing in a conference with DU, CC, UMD, and Miami. It's starting to look like the NCHC was very unnecessary.
  5. Yeah, I can't believe the NCHC would have snubbed Notre Dame over an inferior TV deal with CBS. I believe that Notre Dame wanted to be in a competitive league with schools they have more in common with academically and I think Hockey East provides that. I hate to sound like a B'ville troll, but outside of the hockey world our institution is not that visible, a lot of prospective Notre Dame hockey fans have never heard of us. In terms of visibility, the NCHC needed Notre Dame much more than they needed us. It's too bad UND couldn't have been the 12th school Hockey East added, then the CCHA might have been saved and the WCHA could have remained as it were without UND, UM, and UW.
  6. Our D has handed SDSU this game on a platter.
  7. What's up with our D? They're getting man handled out there.
  8. Brother, it's not that it's not important to me, it's that I can't believe so much time and energy has been spent on it on Sioux Sports.
  9. CHRIST ALMIGHTY GUYS!!!! We've spent 54 pages talking about NDSU! What is wrong with you people? Who cares what they did or didn't do? They are not in our conference or relevant to anything UND is doing, stop giving Bville trolls an excuse to stink up our board with their stupid comments. Time to move on to bigger and better topics.
  10. And look at how many BSC schools and their fan bases had second thoughts about UND once South Dakota declined the invitation. They would add decent academics and athletic facilities, but there's a reason no one else wanted them including the Sun Belt.
  11. I can't believe the BSC would even entertain the idea of NMSU, geographically it makes no sense.
  12. From what I understand if the WAC folds, exiting fees would not have to be paid by schools leaving the WAC. If the WAC were to somehow stay afloat then the WAC would be a fairly wealthy conference. I wonder if they are trying to figure out a way to use that money to entice BSC schools to consider FBS by helping out with the additional scholarships needed to make the jump?
  13. I'm not sure there is enough money and interest among the BSC schools to get this off the ground. A lot of FCS proponents site that they like playing for a national championship every year, but there appears to be more money and visibility playing FBS. Wouldn't mind seeing UND in an FBS conference with the right schools.
  14. A few years ago we were in the 150's.
  15. I believe during the earlier part of the 20th century they tried several times to join the Big 10. But due to anti-catholic views of the time they were denied entrance and competed as an independent. I believe that is the main reason they are reluctant to give up their football independence.
  16. I wonder if the addition of schools like Boise State and Memphis is what turned off Notre Dame. Obviously Boise is a football powerhouse and Memphis is likewise in basketball, but neither school is academically appealing. To be honest I'm glad ND chose the ACC over the Big 10, it keeps the BTHC at 6.
  17. Looks like Notre Dame is headed to the ACC for all sports except football. I honestly would have thought that with all the conference realignments going on that after their NBC deal expired they would have ended up in the Big10. It's too bad Notre Dame, BC, and BU didn't join UND and Denver in the NCHC, that would have been fierce! http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/8369070/notre-dame-sports-football-hockey-acc
  18. I watched the UND/PSU replay game last night on Midco, I think Midco does a good job of producing the game, but I would like them to zoom out a little more after the snap. Would be nice to be able to see more of the field than just a close up of the line of scrimmage.
  19. I was in the student section last night. When I walked into the Alerus the first thing I noticed was a sign that said "no more student tickets available, $5 to purchase a ticket", there was a fairly long line of students getting into the ticket box office. Now, $5 for a ticket is a great deal if you ask me but their was more than plenty of seats left in the student section, and I think the Alerus should consider making more free tickets available to students. As far as making noise goes, I would invite the older generations to come and show the students how it's done! I think it would be great to see more alumni interacting with the students and passing the traditions down that way.
  20. Anybody know why ESPN isn't showing any FCS team's football schedules with results on their website this year?
  21. Doctoral study is lengthy process, I am currently putting the final touches on my dissertation and anticipate graduating in the near future. If I would have gone to a diploma mill school like NDSU, I would probably have been done ages ago.
  22. I've been in grad school at UND for five years now and go out to the bars and clubs regularly, it is a very rare occasion that you see anybody from the hockey program out drinking and raising any sort of hell. I do see them out at restaurants with their girlfriends quite often, Ben Blood gave me and my date his table even though he was there first. Hak runs a tight ship, no one will ever be able to convince me otherwise.
  23. Actually, the Big 10 has two worthless schools from Indiana, IU and Purdue.
  24. B'ville trolls are always surfing our board and filling us in on useless information about our least favorite school. And as far as UND hockey goes Hak has kicked off/ suspended talented players like Matt Frattin and TJ Oshie for misconduct. For the most part UND hockey players are stand up guys who are also outstanding students (Eidness, Genoway).
