So the current threads in the Hockey forum make you happy? WIN or you're NOTHING? I'm a Sioux fan regardless if they win or lose...I've been to almost EVERY big Sioux game (in every sport) since the early '90's I can tell you, from personal experience, the defeats SUCK and the wins are like the best drug you've ever tried!! But I'm willing to throw the dice anytime the green and white take the field/rink/court...and I can deal with how they roll out. It's ALWAYS a gamble!

The only thing I'm happy about is the team that beat us won it all. Says we were pretty close and I was congratulating a respected rival and a chat buddy - WHO I might add, has been nothing but a positive contributor to this board! So he deserves some props...I don't feel any need to back away from that. As to your second comment...being a national contender every year is a GOOD thing! We're there every year and that's a blast! Sure its disappointing when the season ends early but how many other NCC schools have had the postseason play we've had in the last dozen years?? ANSWER: NONE!

they are the Kings of D2 right now...that game could have gone either way but NW screwed themselves by coughing up 4 turnovers (3 in the Laker red zone! ) Fun game to watch...great crowd and for all of you who've been to Florence in the last 5 years...IT WAS SUNNY and 70 Degrees!!! (not 40 and rainy like we've had ) GREAT!! Now the monster can afford those GOLD-PLATED neckbolts he's been wanting for years...as long as we don't have to call him "BLING-STEIN" I guess that's alright...Merry Christmas Buddy!!

Any idea RD (removing UND/USD and any other prospective movers) how many D2 programs are at or above the 24 scholarship level? I'm curious how many programs are above the 24 scholly level right now?

I admire UMD for making the committment to move up and add scholarships. Randy did well with what he had to work with but the sad thing for them is...they will have to adhere to the scholarship limit for the Northern Sun (24 max I believe) to join and the bigger deal is all the powerhouse schools leaving for DI-AA will only strengthen the call on the national D2 level to lower the maximum number of scholarships. This has been tried before (and always been rebuffed) but the odds of it going through in the next few years is going up with every former D2 power moving up....

the difference is the Lakers actually respect us as rivals! That's why I respect them...they're good, VERY GOOD! We've had tough times the last 2 games but, to quote their head coach, "We HATE playing North Dakota." (That says a lot!) Think about this...GV could be going for their 6th straight NC if it wasn't for UND - that makes ndsu's run (that they make SO MUCH about!) look...frankly, spread out and ultimately insignificant....AND thank god they didn't have steroid testing* back in the day!! (* anyone remember Joe Toth?? )

I'm a little suprised Buning pulled the chute now (mid-season) but I guess it will help find a decent coach before next season...someone who can ACTUALLY move the program forward!

the DIFFERENCE is...this isn't the PRO'S and you don't kick a guy to the curb because he's underperforming while you stuff your face with Doritos watching the game on TV! He made a decision to come to UND...he's part of our TEAM! You can't "fire" him so you have to live with him...maybe giving him a little encouragement would go farther than the "BURN HIM AT THE STAKE" arguement a lot of posters* seem to have! (* - posters whose only experience with DI college hockey is trying to stay upright in the line outside the Ralph!)
