  1. They are bowing to "Prime Minister" Al Carlson and his cronies in the Legislature. And if they think they can win a war with the NCAA and the Big Sky Conference, they are insane.
  2. Today is the day that UND athletics had its execution date set. Looks like we'll be playing Sioux Falls College in football in the future. Time to mount an education campaign for North Dakotans who think the sanctions are "a small price to pay" because they are not.
  3. This was the first season that Nelson really dominated at times with his combination of size and speed. Once he starts skating with the professionals, he'll be going up against bigger and stronger athletes than he is used to. I hope he makes the adjustment sooner than 2-3 years, but I have my doubts. Nelson is not another Toews or Parise and I think he's in for a nasty surprise.
  4. Looks like the stars just keep rolling on in for UND!!!
  5. Then that would make Garth Snow a moron because UND is well-known for developing players for the next level. But I guess a lot of people already think that about Garth Snow.
  6. I hope Nelson enjoys the AHL, he'll be stuck there for the next 2-3 years at least. I hope he develops quicker than that, but I just don't see it.
  7. Remember back in 2000, Boston College faced St. Lawerence in the Frozen Four semifinal in Providence, RI while we faced Maine in the other semifinal. Our game was expected to be close, which it was. But the other semifinal, held in the evening, was also close, which was a bit of a surprise for most people. St. Lawerence, a member of the EZAC, pushed the Eagles to the limit. The lesson here is this: Do not underestimate ANYBODY in April. These teams are here because they earned the right to be here.
  8. I think Schlossman might be eating his words on that. ANYTHING is possible in the playoffs in this sport. There are really no "bad" teams in college hockey anymore; everyone has some talent. I gave up trying to predict what would happen a long time ago because I would end up eating my words.
  9. Be careful UND-1 or you'll get called out by the "duckie and bunny" police for being too negative and talking about things that are "none of your business". Seriously though, I agree with you. It was a change that is best for both coach and program. Mannausau, now that he has some talent to work with, should do a fine job of getting this unit back to what it was in the 1990's and 2000's.
  10. What, exactly, did the topic starter do wrong? I don't think he is a player, player's parent, assistant coach or even a staff person. He is someone that has some idea of what is going on within the Men's Basketball program. You can disagree with it or agree with it, but I don't think it's fair to say it was out of line to post it. If we can't even discuss things like this that impact the programs we support financially and otherwise, then there is no point ot having a forum like this. My 2 cents (nothing more)
  11. I am just surprised that lazy and/or uninspired players would even get on the team; Roebuck was big on work ethic. And Roebuck had mellowed some over the years, he was more philisophical about losses than he was when he first came to UND. But I think he always cared about work ethic and doing things the right way.
  12. Notre Dame wanted the conference to revolve around them and their "storied past". Hockey East can have them as far as I'm concerned. St. Cloud isn't a great addition, but it gives us an even number of schools and makes scheduling a whole lot easier. And I think it's a sign that they want their hockey program to become greater than what it is.
  13. Please don't stop posting what you know because some people in our fan base don't want to hear it. The duckies and bunnies mentality that has infected our fan base is very disturbing. You can't criticize anyone for anything or you are called a bad fan. Sometimes the truth, no matter how uncomfortable, needs to be told so that things can get fixed. We are going into Division I, we need to have all systems fully operational or this thing won't work out the way we are hoping.
  14. I am a little surprised that Brewster feels there is a need to "houseclean" the women's program. I would argue that the women's program has handled the transition better than the men's program has. And Roebuck didn't seem like the type of coach who would put up with any nonsense from anyone. I find it hard to believe that any lazy players would be allowed on the team in the first place. I suppose it's possible that Roebuck had lost some of his fire and had started to let some things go. I think going with a younger, more energetic coach will benefit the program in the long-term.
  15. And there will be NOT ONE Regional held there ever again. I am about winning championships and one way to help achieve that goal is to be able to host some regionals. But I don't expect you to understand that. After all, you care more about the name and logo than the team itself.
  16. This was the formula during our Division II glory days and I think it will work at the FCS level as well.
  17. Because Alvarez is the one that pushed for this and Maturi pushed to NOT leave the WCHA. This is one situation we can't blame on Minnesota. It is the people in charge in Madison, WI that helped make this whole thing happen. I do not blame Gopher fans for being ticked off about this, as I am also not happy about it.
  18. Does that mean that Minnesota's 5-2 win gets tossed out and replaced with a forfeit win? After last Sunday, I'll take whatever I can get.
  19. I believe that is my prediction as well.
  20. NASCAR already has prime time coverage on the FOX broadcast network and on several established cable channels. Baseball also has prime time coverage on FOX and on many regional cable outlets. If this new network tries to copy-cat ESPN, it will fail. A start-up like this has to find unique programming that no one else has or hasn't given enough attention to. Otherwise, it will have a tough time getting viewers and cable companies to pick it up.
  21. Boston College is the team we were in the late 1990's and early 2000's. They cash in when they have the goods and I think this year's team definitely has the goods. I am predicting a Boston College-Union final.
  22. The Eagles didn't give up a single goal in their regional. Nadda. Nothing. ZERO. And they haven't lost a game in a long time. I know that doesn't guarrantee a win next week, but they will be tough to beat. I know I would be worried if UND had won last weekend and was "rewarded" with a match-up with Boston College.
  23. Will we go with just one defensive coordinator now or stick with that stupid "Co-Coordinator" system? I have never liked that arrangement and I still don't.
  24. Well, everyone on here that is happy with "just being there" shouldn't complain about it. This is what happens when you don't win it all.
  25. College Basketball and Football are pretty well taken by other networks. This new network will have to find sports that are not widely available now and develop the potential those markets have. College Hockey is one of those underdeveloped markets.
