  1. But, but, but, but........Rob Port insisted that the Big Sky was "only bluffing" and would never, ever even THINK of kicking us out! Seriously, this is awesome news. I am so looking forward to the first season of football in the Big Sky Conference!!!
  2. The repeal of the nickname law has a provision that prohibits us from picking a new name until 1/1/2015.
  3. You are persistent, I'll give you that.
  4. Hey Fetch, shouldn't you be off lobbying the Winnipeg Jets and REA, Inc. to replace UND with an AHL franchise? We have listened to you blather on and on and on about it for the past several months, now it's time for you to put up or shut up.
  5. Just more NCAA incompetence.
  6. I think we should respect the cooling off period imposed by the repeal of the nickname law (which was upheld last night by a 2 to 1 margin) and just focus on the first year in the Big Sky conference and the first year of playoff eligibility. I was in favor of moving on, but I certainly am not in the mood to talk about a different name and logo.
  7. This is blatantly false. Not being able to play Minnesota and Wisconsin in hockey and other sports IS a big deal. Not being able to host playoff games IS a big deal. Not playing schools we have had long associations with (NDSU, SDSU) IS a big deal. And the people of North Dakota, by a 2 to 1 margin, sent a clear message that losing all of that was too big of a price to pay. Of course, people like you will always insist that all of these sanctions would have been "a small price to pay" to keep the name and logo. Most people on here are sad to see the name and logo retired, but most of us realize it is a necessary evil in order to compete in Division I athletics. I understand your feelings (I share them), but sometimes in life you have to move on and this is one of those times.
  8. DaveK is probably online ordering his Minnesota Golden Gopher hockey jerseys, t-shirts and jackets. Since the name is being retired, he'll have to find a new school to support.
  9. Trying to come up with more conspiracy theories on how "the folks in North Dakota" were "fooled" and "scared" into voting Yes and how "it ain't over yet".
  10. Don't let the door hit your butt on the way out.
  11. I think the first polls start closing at 7pm, so you should start to see some results then.
  12. Property taxes are hated because they are very regressive, subjective and hit the people that can least afford them the hardest. In 2008, people had a chance to vote themselves an income tax cut and it was soundly defeated. If Measure 2 had a logical plan to replace the property tax with something more palatable, I think it would have had a fair chance of passing. And if Bismarck doesn't do something about property taxes in 2013, this issue WILL come up again.
  13. That is also how I voted. If these predictions hold, I think it's the first time I have voted with the majority on all measures in a primary election.
  14. Thanks for posting this; I just bookmarked it. My predictions are as follows: Measure 1: No 65-35 Measure 2: No 80-20 Measure 3: No 55-45 Measure 4: Yes 60-40 If you haven't already done so, get out and vote!
  15. I think the concern is, if hockey starts becoming like soccer (1-0, 2-0, 2-1 games), people will get frustrated and stop buying tickets and stop watching it on television because it would be much cheaper to sit at home and watch paint dry. The NHL opened up the game after the 2004-05 lockout and it was a big boost to TV ratings and fan interest. I for one do not want to go back to the days of 250 pound slugs on skates who couldn't shoot or pass worth a crap, but thrived in the league because they could clutch, grab, hold, hook and mug guys and not get penalized for it. The 1990's version of the NHL was almost unwatchable and I don't think the league would have survived long-term if they hadn't done what they did to open up the game. The NCAA would be wise to follow the NHL's lead in this.
  16. I want absolutely nothing to do with the Scummit League, especially since they are bleeding members left and right.
  17. I have always felt it is a lose-lose to coach your kid in team sports. Everyone will always wonder if the kid really belongs on the team. I know that Gene Roebuck's daughter signed to play for him and I would never have done that. I would have gone to another team in another conference so I could establish myself on my own. I think Luke Johnson will do the same thing.
  18. You won't get any "solutions" from him; he (and others on here like him) believe that the sanctions are "a small price to pay". That's his "solution". He has brought nothing to the table and he has the nerve in the same breath to call me and people like me cowards with nothing to back up our side. He is a Grade A troll and has contributed nothing to this debate.
  19. And you'll be waiting a long, long time my friend. Fetch has no answer for that.
  20. And the delusionalism continues.........
  21. Maybe Fetch, DaveK, pivetz or Rob Port can provide us more "evidence" that these coaches were threatened and/or bribed into doing this.
  22. I suggest you watch your mouth, son. I have been supporting UND's sports teams since I was 6 or 7 years old. I sure as heck don't need a lecture on "loyalty" from a man who has just stated in public that he is thinking of becoming a BISON fan for all our non-hockey sports. I suggest that you, Mr. Small Price To Pay, change your username to Benedict Arnold; it's much more descriptive of your current attitude. You, along with Davek, yababy8 and the new troll (pivetz) are the biggest threat to our institution this side of Al Carlson.
  23. And hopefully stop posting on here for good.
  24. And 14-2 overall in the playoffs.....and this from a #8 seed! Too bad there will be another lockout next season; what a waste of the momentum the NHL is producing in these playoffs.
