.....with an additional "suggestion" that the producers refer to us as the "Green and White". I am being sarcastic, but I just can't shake the feeling that it will be used as a "fail-safe, fallback" choice if everything else fails.
-
No, but they should be bummed that they can't get out of the first round. Maybe bottom of the barrel is too harsh, but it's unacceptable that this franschise has been mired in quicksand for so many years. Your accepting attitude about it is also part of the problem. Why should the front office care if the fans are satisfied with just making the playoffs?
-
Yeah.....so did 15 other teams. In a 30 team league, "making the playoffs" is not a standard of excellence I would be proud of. And it had been several years since the Mild had even managed to accomplish that. Overall, the total body of work is mediocre at best.
-
We have an NHL team 150 miles to the north of us (Winnipeg Jets) that I think will win a championship before the Mild ever get close to winning one. If you need a viable alternative, that would be my choice.
-
This is a textbook example of why the Minnesota Wild (Mild) are a bottom of the barrel franchise in the NHL. No wonder people are starting to lose interest in them; you can't use the "expansion team" crutch anymore.

I am with you on that! Local places seem to have better food and service than chains.

College Hockey 2012/13 (non UND Hockey)

I know, I was also being a smart-mouth. It's what I do best! -

Read my signature. That's the boilerplate answer a lot of people give. -

The red line is only used to determine icing. The NHL adopted this after the 2004-05 lockout to open up the game. -

Does UND have problems attracting top NHL prospects to go to school here? Do most of the top programs in NCAA hockey? No and No are the answers to those questions. And having top-notch NHL calibre talent hasn't exactly brought home any NCAA titles, has it? If people hate ties that much, go to 4 x 4 in regular season overtimes and double the length of the overtime to 10 minutes. That would make it exciting, eliminate a large majority of the ties and keep it a team game, the way God intended! -
Marco's is located at the corner of South Washington Street and 40th Avenue South. There are temporary stoplights at the intersection now; soon to be permanent. Choice Wellness is nearby. The pizza place with the train is Happy Joe's, which is still in the same building on South Washington.

That's a wise choice. Private gossip adds nothing to the discussion.

If they want people to purchase the webcast, they better sink some serious coin into it to make it better. All I read on here is how bad it is most of the time. If the webcast is state-of-the-art and reliable, people won't care about Fox College Sports anymore.

Two words: Who cares. Nobody cares if you have a personal problem with the owner. This is about where the food and/or service is good or not.

Wilbur's dad is a riot! He just HAS to come back next year!

That is what I have been thinking for several years.

And what makes you think UND wouldn't sell all the rights to the turf signage even if they did own the stadium? I don't really care one way or the other about the logos on the turf, but it wouldn't matter who owns the stadium, everything would be auctioned off to the highest bidder regardless.
-
I guess I care way more about the team that plays on the turf than what logos are on the turf. This is a very important season for Mussman and his staff and the program in general. If the team goes 3-8 again, we'll have bigger problems than how big the Alerus Center logos are.

The only way that the Washington Redskins will change their name is if the NFL forces them to, presumably by threatening to revoke the franchise from the owner if he doesn't change it. I am pretty certain that would take a vote of the other owners and I don't think that the votes are there right now. But if this becomes a PR problem for the league (and the NFL is very image conscious), it might persuade the other owners that don't have Indian-based nicknames (Redskins, Chiefs) to consider implementing a policy like the NCAA has done. That is why small protest movements like the one talked about here have to be taken seriously and not laughed off. I think it will take another 10 years, but it could become plausible by that point. I hope it doesn't happen, but don't assume it won't.

I generally don't bother reading this guy's drivel, but when I saw it was about North Dakota, I caved. Sure enough, more drivel. His column is an absolute waste of space; all he does is complain about how this sucks and that sucks. He should become a movie critic.

Really? You didn't hear this message when reading between the lines of the arguments of the anti-nickname cabal? The idea was that the nickname caused negative self-image among Native Americans and thus contributed to the social and economic problems on the reservations. And, sorry, but I am not apologizing for the comment. I had to listen to nickname oppponents throw around words like "racist" in describing the name, logo and (yes) even those of us that supported keeping the name. Now when their stupid, illogical theories are proven wrong over and over again, I have no problem calling them out on it. You reap what you sow. Unfortunately, the little girl that died was forced to reap what irresponsible adults sowed.

I am a Central Alum (Class of 1993) and I do not do crap like this.

Wow, that really was a long time ago! I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

College Hockey 2012/13 (non UND Hockey)
fightingsioux4life replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
The shootout is an abomination to the sport. Period. It has no business in any level of hockey. And I do not care how exciting they are. Settling ties in basketball with slam-dunks contests would be exciting, but it would also be a colossal joke. Or using field goal kicking contests in football to break ties. I do not care if fans in Montreal, Quebec like shootouts (this is Hakstol's excuse for adopting them), I do not want them anyplace in college hockey. -
So "countless Red River alumni" that went to UND and supported our teams will suddenly stop supporting them over this? Ties to your college alma mater are much more important to people than their high school alma mater. And if I am wrong, so what? We don't need "supporters" like that. When Grand Forks Central first considered Knights as a possible nickname, people whined and complained that it just could not be used because Climax-Fisher used it and didn't want us to use it. Well, it was adopted a couple of years later, Climax-Fisher got over it and life went on. That is what would happen here as well. And this is all pure speculation anyway; we'll probably get Rainbows or Unicorns shoved down our throats if some people around here get their way. PS: What's up with all the child welfare problems at Spirit Lake? I thought getting rid of the Sioux nickname and logo was supposed to solve all the problems on the reservations?
