For being such a big fan of NDSU football, you should know all this by heart. And stop spinning so much, you'll get dizzy!
-
And it is interesting to note, starting in 1993 (the Mike Mooney "theft" game) through 1999, UND was 7-2 in the series. Extend that to 2003 (our last meeting) and it's 10-3. That one play in that one game symbolized the shift in power in the NCC and in North Dakota in college football that took place in the mid-1990's. Of course, Rocky "Knucklehead" Hager will blame it all on Division II scholarship reductions.

Good to see that NDSU math education at work again! 1990: NDSU 1991: NDSU 1992: NDSU 1993: UND 1994: UND twice 1995: UND once, NDSU once 1996: UND 1997: NDSU 1998: UND 1999: UND Based on my count, that adds up to 7 wins for UND and 5 wins for NDSU. Your math would work in George Orwell's 1984, but that is about it. Nice try, please play again.

There is no way in this or any other universe that we commit to playing all future UND-NDSU games in Fargo (and don't kid yourself, that is exactly what would happen). As for all this "...we have no leverage" nonsense, just because they are having tremendous success right now does not make them a quasi-FBS program (even if their fan base believes that). They do not deserve that kind of preferential treatment. And if that means we never play them in the regular season again, so be it. Faison has shown us his hand on this and he isn't going to cave in. And that is how it should be.

And the excuses just keep piling up for Ag Tech!
-
I was only talking about use in the media (print and electronic). I know cheerleaders used it from time to time (like Michigan's "Go Blue!" cheer) and that doesn't bother me. For some reason, it just bugs the heck out of me to have sportswriters use it.

I have been reading news stories about UND athletics for most of my life and I never saw Green and White until the Sioux name and logo were retired (I think Mike Jacobs enjoyed that a little too much, but that's another topic). Like I said, someone come up with examples. Maybe I was blind to it all those years; I just don't recall our colors being used all that much.
-
I disagree with you on this. "Green and White" belongs in the same category as "Sun Dogs", "Spirit" and "Flames". How much merchandise will we sell if our official name is "Green and White"? It's not a distinct enough brand; it's too similar to North Texas and Dartmouth. We need something that sets us apart and gives us a distinct identity. "Green and White" doesn't cut it.
-
I keep hearing this whole "Green and White has been used for years" statement, but when we used the Fighting Sioux name, people called us that, not "Green and White". The fight song was titled "Fight on Sioux", not "Fight on Green and White". The only example anyone was able to come up with was a Dean Blais quote after a game at Anchorage one year. And since it was a direct quote, that really doesn't count. If someone has the time (which I don't), maybe they could find better examples of this.
-
I think it's just the example he likes to use for this topic. It also is the stupid name he hates the most. My favorite love-to-hate name is "Green and White".

You can throw stones at us all you want, but it doesn't change the facts. And unfortunately, those facts aren't in our favor. I have a closet full of Sioux gear and I will continue wearing it wherever and whenever I want (screw the PC zealots that want to ban it from campus). I also bought three customized Sioux hockey jerseys before they ran out, which cost me over $1,000. So challenge my loyalty and commitment to this institution at your own peril.
-
They spent one whole year trying to force-fed us the replicas while telling me that they don't have the authentics available for purchase because the replica jerseys "...aren't selling that good". Gee, I wonder why?
-
Whatever it is you are smoking, I'd like some please.
-
I was referring to some of the guys they have been test driving at Spring Training the past couple of years. Anyway, the Twins have shown some signs of life this year. We'll just have to wait and see if it continues in the coming years.
-
For my money, Red Lobster is as good as it gets.
-
The Twins are focused on developing their young players. Or at least I hope that is what they are doing. If they are planning another fire sale, I will be most displeased.
-
Well, I guess if you aren't specifying what kind of jihad it is, then it just might work!
-
No, no, no.....then we would have Dr. James Dobson and his ilk in town protesting us. I have had enough of people picketing UND for whatever reason; we need some peace and quiet around here.
-
You just summarized my feelings on this issue in one short paragraph. Well done.
-
This isn't high school Fetch. We can and must do better than that.
-
Fixed your post.
-
Hey now, don't be confusing them with rational facts!
-
I remember a Bison fan once saying that NDSU might become "The next Gonzaga of Division I Basketball". It's good to see that their delusions of grandeur are still alive and well; it's good entertainment during the off-season!
-
So is UND hockey, but Midco Sports isn't televising practices with a "post-game" show afterwards. And if they did that, I would call it stupid as well.
-
I could live with that list.
