    Most athletic departments as a whole don't make money; they are in the red every year (some more than others). I think there are maybe a dozen athletic departments in the entire NCAA that run in the black without being subsidized.

    Last time we missed the NCAA tournament was 2002. Before that, it was 1996.

    Speaking of American Sports Network, that is a network I wish Midco would pick up. During the Omaha game a few weeks ago, I watched some of their programming ads and they have a lot of good stuff on there (including college hockey).

    Boston College hasn't won a title since 2012......that is 6 years going on 7. I think the emergence of other programs out east (Quinnippiac, Union, Boston University in the post-Parker era) have made it harder on Jerry York and his staff.

    You realize that BU's "Diaper Dandies" will likely bolt for the NHL at the end of this season, don't you? They either win a title this year or they start over next year.

    That was someone else, not me. I am not going because I am sick of the Target Center and sick of how the tournament is run.

    I don't miss Hakstol. The program is bigger than any one coach or player and we'll be fine in the long-run. I believe we lost 9 regulars from last year's team; that is the biggest single season loss we have sustained in a very long time. You just cannot expect to replace all of them in one off-season. Look at Boston College: they won titles in 2008, 2010 and 2012 and missed the NCAA's in 2009. I think their fans are happy with that trade off, as most of the people on this forum would be. Having said all that, the season ain't over until it's over.

    I do not believe we are headed for an extended period of below average teams. This streak of being home for the first round and making the NCAAs was bound to end at some point.

    After last night, all I want is for us to get to Fargo and give ourselves a chance. I don't even care if we host the first-round of the playoffs or not. Just get to Fargo and make one final push for #9.

    Now is the time for Kennedy to step up and make some decisions and not worry about the backlash. We need to cut some sports, regardless of the budget situation. We also need to raise more financial support, because of the budget situation. This also could make a move to the Slummit/MVFC or Slummit/BSC-FB almost a done deal.

    This thread IS about non-UND college hockey, so I think that is a fair topic to discuss here. For the record, I don't care about Michigan State hockey either, as long as they don't drop the program.
