  1. Feeling sick today, otherwise I would be there. Not a good start.
  2. Do you have to bring that up here? Can we read some good news on here for a change? (Definitely not smiling)
  3. Maybe this is a ploy to justify a move to FBS?
  4. The little school budgets are pocket change compared to UND and NDSU. Besides, I think we are drifting off topic a little. Why is NDSU in bigger budget trouble than UND? Poor planning?
  5. But even during the heart of the oil boom, the state was looking for excuses to "rightsize" higher education funding. I still think some of NDSU's problems started with Chapman's nonsense.
  6. Is some of this fallout from the schenanigans of "Whiskey Joe" Chapman?
  7. You just summarized the problem. Low expectations lead to average results. Think big, dream bigger..........or become Golden Gopher Football!!!
  8. Good idea from UND athletic marketing (can't believe I actually typed that!).
  9. I wonder if this team is weak enough for us to be competitive with. Seriously, this is another non-conference game with PWR implications. A regulation win is a must.
  10. You know Duluth will turn it around.
  11. Overnight? We have been Division I for 15 years! We didn't just move up yesterday. And I never said a word about firing anyone. If anything, UND has let down the athletic department by not giving the coaches what they need to be successful. That goes back to not having a plan to finance our programs at a Division I funding level. We are using a Division II funding model and it simply does not work. Also, I am one person on this forum calling for an end to the hockey-only vs. everyone else nonsense. We are all on the same team here. We all want successful programs because they are a great marketing tool for the entire institution. And I don't think criticism is a sin. If anything, people venting on here shows they care about the programs and want them to be better. Apathy is the opposite of love, not hate. Finally, winning an FCS title should be the goal. This is one of two sports on campus with a realistic chance to win an NCAA title. So yes, that is a point of emphasis for some people on here. I know some people think we should post nothing but positive things, but negatives need to be pointed out too. Just my opinion.
  12. If they take stupid personal foul and targeting penalties like they did today in the playoffs, it will cost them.
  13. It's been "beaten to death" because there is a grain of truth to it. We have been wandering in the FCS wilderness for 15 years now. At some point, we need to beat someone we are not supposed to and make a statement. Like when we broke the 12 year losing streak to NDSU in 1993 at home; our program went to the national semifinals that year. How long of a wait is too long? Where do we draw the line? This team is close to being special, but whether or not we ever get over the hump remains to be seen.
  14. Go to 4x4 OT for 10 minutes. If it ends as a tie, then so be it. No more $@#&?!* shootouts.
  15. Looks like we will have to play well next Saturday to win.
  16. Same garbage they have been spewing for years. Putting up with them in St. Paul every March is one thing I do not miss about having them in the same conference as us.
  17. Yep. Split on the road and sweep at home. Gradual improvement week by week and we'll be clicking on all cylinders by Christmas.
  18. And you are happy with moral victories. That is what is wrong with this program; people just accept mediocrity and expect everyone else to go along. 15 years of this nonsense is enough.
  19. The meltdown in the 3rd quarter didn't have to happen. That is why people have trouble getting excited about this program again; in the back of their minds, they know there will be a letdown. At some point, we need to have a statement win vs. a team like SDSU. Otherwise, we'll be stuck in the mud forever.
  20. People are sick of losing and being average. I would rather have that vs. apathy and low expectations.
  21. But according to some people on here, we shouldn't expect to beat teams like Minnesota. Seriously, I agree with you. We are a blue blood in this sport, not a mid-major hoping to hang with teams.
