I think we can keep this game close. I think we play better on the road this year, but we might come up a bit short. If the Hawks can keep it a one score game late, they may believe they can pull off the upset. We will see. USU - 31 UND - 27

Can’t keep letting 3’s and giving up 7. Need a TD here to end all hope. This is where our team needs to show they can close out games. Especially against inferior opponents.

Idalski is 100% to blame for the initial reaction from players. I don't doubt the stories of players getting emotional because the program was cut are real. Idalski knew for a fact the program was (excuse the pun) on this ice and that the chances of it being cut were overwhelming. And that may have been his plan all along. To make the admiration look bad by keeping his players in the dark about what could happen, practicing and bringing a recruit in the very day they cut the program. You can blame the UND administration all you want, but the initial backlash from players players is ALL on him.

Got a chance to go to practice today. Here were some of the main things I noticed: 1. Tommy Schuster is going to be the starter this year. Other QB’s on roster are good, but Tommy looks the best. 2. Romfo looks like he’s going to be good, but man he looks so small out there. Even shorter than Tommy!! 3. Continuing with QB’s, I was really impressed with Feeney. Throws a great ball. Especially deep ball. Our depth at QB is the deepest We have had in years. Will be interesting to see how they use Quincy this year as well. 4. Boltman is as close to 100% as he has probably been in a long time. I think he starts week one. No question. 5. Waletzko is a beast. He is so big and so strong and so goon. Definitely deserving of his preseason accolades. 6. Stating the obvious, but Otis is a stud. Kid has tree trunks for legs!! So strong and so fast. And he is having the most fun out of any guy out there. He’s gonna be fun to watch. (Side note, also a really nice guy. My son really wanted to meet him after and he was nice enough to talk to him and take a picture. My son definitely has a new favorite player)
