If you listen to what Fullerton said, he said that they are very concerned with the issue, and can see UND not being a viable member. He said that although it takes a unanimous vote form all schools to remove a member, it is not that difficult to do. If we are not in the Big Sky, we don't have a conference. There is no Great West after this year and no other conference is looking to expand. Without a conference, we will have to schedule all our games. No gauranteed games with any schools because we have no conference affiliation. If we don't have a conference, can't host playoff games, end up playing lower quality teams (D2, NAIA), not being able to win a conference tourbnament, what is inticing a young athelete to come to UND? Recruiting will take a huge hit. no denying it. Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa all have clearly stated they will not play us. that is a FACT. Cold hard fact. Basketball, Football, Hockey, whatever. And other schools are adopting the same policy. I don't want to have to "deal with it" when these issues come up. It is not worh the risk.

Why don't people get it. If we keep the Fighting Sioux we will: - get kicked out of the Big Sky as they will not see us a a sactioned school as a viable member - become an independent in all sports (except hockey) and face a scheduling nightmare - lose recruits because they don't want to play for a school that has sanctions on it and not in a conference - never play Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and an ever growing list of schools EVER in any sport It does not matter what we do with a statewide vote or a constitutional amendment. We have a legally binding settlement with the NCAA. They will hold firm to that. They reaffirmed that last August when the North Dakota delegation met with the President of the NCAA. All of the things mentioned above will happen. That is a fact. Choose to believe it or not. I have been a fan of the University of North Dakota for as long as I can remember. I love the Fighting Sioux name and all that it represents. I want to keep the name as much as every other supporter. But there comes a time where you need to see what the reprocutions of keeping the name will be. And they are very serious and very real. I am a fan of the Fighting Sioux, but a Fan of the University of North Dakota first. Keeping the name will absulutley kill out athletic department because the things I mentioned above can and will happen.

This was probably one of the greatest college hockey teams in history. A 40-8 record, a Hobey Baker winner that set the NCAA scoring record that still stands today, WCHA regular season Champsion, WCHA playoff Champion, and NCAA Champion. I doubt we will see another team like this for a long time. Any word if UND plans on honoring this team this year? They deffinitely deserve it. I really hope UND has something worked out to remember arguably the best Fighting Sioux hockey team ever!!

I wonder if the UND/UNO game is going to be immediately after the Lancers/Stars game or if it is going to be a night game. Would be fun to tailgate between games!!

Remember when the UND delegation went to Indianappolis to talk to the NCAA about the nickname issue? This was after the law passed. They could care less about the law. They said UND would still be under the sanctions. As for now, nothing is going to change their mind on the issue. Only a legal injunction from the Spirit Lake lawsuit will force them to change their stance on the issue. But don't hole your breathe on that one. The NCAA has made their point. They have a legally binding settlement that we did not meet its requirement. They will not change their tune on their own accord.

The demand is high when you lose only 1 game and you win a National Championship. When you win 3 games in a season, the demand will most certainly go down. It is true at UND and NDSU. Attendance totals for both schools have always been good when the team is winning. But in years like 2009 for NDSU and 2010 for UND, you can see how it takes a hit.

That's all. Unless we still have sanctions against us...then there is no way we could host a playoff game. We would be undefeated, the #1 team in the nation, and have the #1 seed going into the playoffs....but we would have to go on the road for every game. I wonder if the voters of ND will realize that in June?

Only way that game would be at the Alerus Center is if we were a seeded team in the playoffs. Top 4 teams get byes and get ranked 1 thru 4. A seeded team will always host over an unseeded team in the playoffs regardless of how bit the opponents stadium is. If both teams are unseeded, than NDSU would likely outbid us, as that is the way sites games between unseeded teams are chosen.

Wofford, James Madison, St Francis....whatever!!! They are all the same. An out of conference game against a team 1500 miles away. My point is if you are going to schedule a game against a quality FCS opponent, you got one 70 miles away that wants to play you!

I seriously hope that all Bison fans don't share your same opinion. Wow!!! I don't think I heard about NDSU students standing in line outside the dome 7 hours prior to the St. Francis game!! We have not played for 9 years now. But I gaurantee if we did, things would get heated up again. Heck, if they announced a game in 2015, it would be talked about on message boards, family gatherings, what have you, for the next 3 years!!! Th rivalry will always be there. We just need the game to solidify it!!!

The problem with that plan is "high quality" teams have bought out of coming to Fargo. So you end up playing teams like Morgan state and St Francis. What was the last OOC "high quality team" that came to Fargo for a regular season game?? How is that part of the plan working for you?

Do not tell me that NDSU did not benifit financially from UND games at the Fargodome in the past. Look at the top 10 most attended games at the Fargodome. Pretty sure that at least half are for the UND games.

Play the game. Do it every other year, in Fargo and Grand Forks. Both schools will benifit from it as they will have a scheduled non conference game every other year. Both schools will make money from hosting the game as it will be the biggest regular season game of the year. But more importantly it will benifit the fans of these two schools. The majority of fans on both sides want to see this game played and want to continue what was one of the longest college football rivalries in history!!

I just hope that they find the law unconstitutional. That way there is no chance that the people of UND can vote, and if in favor of it, destroy UND athletics as we know it.

Keep the name = eventually getting kicked out of the Big Sky. It's that simple folks!!

To sum up....The Big Sky is watching very closely how UND is affected now by the sactions that are imposed on them. If they feel that they are not a viable member, the can and WILL vote UND out of the Big Sky Conference. That is a fact. Its time to face reality. Under sanctions, we will most deffinitley feel the affects of it. The ability to schedule games will suffer, recruiting will suffer. In my opinion there is a better chance that we will be kicked ou of the BIG SKY with the name than there is we won't.

Just listened to Fullerton on KGFO. To sum up, he basically said that he expects North Dakota to be in the Big Sky starting this summer when we pay our initial dues and compete next year in all athletics. He said that the University will be able to compete with the sanctions and if they can survive then there will not be a problem. But he said that that happening was not very realistic. Once North Dakota does not appear to be an asset to the Big Sky, then they can at any time choose to vote them out. Also said that getting a majority is not that hard to do when all of the Presidents are together. Says they are very common. So while he said that they are not going to get kicked out now, the possibility is certainly very very real.

I will always remember the old DECC. It was my first ever road hockey game. Great atmosphere!! The seats are right on top of the action!! I will always remember DHG and the rest of the students running around the concourse after UMD scored and then doing the same with my buddies one game and our Sioux flag when we scored!!! I remember tieing the game and running around the arena and being tripped by an old lady, and then less than a minute later we took the lead and we went straight towards the student section to run the flag around again. Security busted that up. Don't think they allowed flags after that year!! I am looking forward to seeing Amsoil up close. Hope to see tons of Sioux fans there!! I wouldn't expect anything less!!

We have usually on to Grandma's sports bar after. seems to be the place to go since it is pretty big! Old Chicago is also a good place. Just trying to figure out what to do with one of the guys that I am going with. Anything good going on this weekend anywhere...live bands or anything?
