The master minds of the North Star College Cup thought that this tournament was going to be just like the WCHA Final 5 of old. I honestly think that. While it was a good idea, trying to recreate the atmosphere and excitement of a post season conference tournament with a non conference tournament was going to be very difficult to do.

We can't move any sooner than 2020. Conference schedules are set until then. The Big Sky and the MVFC aren't going to start over from scratch to exclude/include UND to figure out their schedules for 2018 and 2019. Its only for 2 years. It is a temporary inconvenince that will be well worth it after we are in the MVFC. Today is a great day for UND athletics!!

#SiouxForever.........#BigSkyForever........I am sensing a trend here!! What is it about change that makes people resist it so much? Believe it or not, there are times change is necessary. That is very much the case in both instances

So you're telling me that maybe we were on the verge of possibly starting a rivalry with potentially some teams was maybe about to happen sometime?

Or how bout: who in the Big Sky can say UND is their rival?!

Just in case people were wondering, here is what each conference ranked nationally compared to other FCS/D1 conferences for FB and MBB since UND started competing in the Big Sky in 2012. Big Sky FB MVFC Big Sky MBB Summit MBB 2012-2013 4th 3rd 28th 19th 2013-2014 6th 5th 26th 18th 2014-2015 4th 1st 26th 21st 2015-2016 6th 1st 28th 12th 2016-2017 5th 1st 29th 17th Hate to admit it, but the MVFC and the Summit has been a better conference than the Big Sky since 2012. Obviously this is just two sports, but it is the two biggest ones. So add another item to the list of why moving to Summit.MVFC is a good move......We are joining a much better conference.

The absolute #1 reason that UND is switching conferences is to save money. UND is having to make budget cuts and by switching to the Summit/MVFC, that makes it a whole lot easier. One poster said 500K and maybe up to 800K per year. Tough times call for tough decisions. With the rising costs of travel, there is no way that UND could continue to play in a conference where constant travel halfway across the country was required.
