  1. If he's good enough, NFL scouts will find him. Lets not forget, he is only a junior. It may be too early to tell if he is the best FCS WR, but I'd say he is definitely top 5 and if he only continues to improve, he'll likely be the best next season.
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiWgb4TWHf8&feature=youtu.be If listening to Rocky Long talk good about UND doesn't make you smile, I don't know what will.
  3. If UND gets to 7+ DI wins this season, that will mean they beat some pretty good teams (at least one of the following: SDSU, MSU, Montana, and/or EWU). It would be hard for the selection committee to overlook a Big Sky team that went 8-3. We'll see what happens though, because getting 7 D1 wins (8 overall) will be a difficult task. We haven't even seen this team play on the road yet, and that can be a challenge for some teams.
  4. The Montana game will have a real nice tailgating crowd, pending the weather.
  5. D.J. Adams is a top-FCS RB who will likely get a shot to play on Sundays. Ryan Chappel never would've got that opportunity. End of that discussion. As far as best RB in the Alerus, that is debatable. But I will say we will see a RB just as good if not better in Northern Arizona's Zach Bauman on Oct. 13.
  6. Exactly. In terms of creating fans, believe it or not UND competes with NDSU. NDSU is 6-3 against FBS teams and UND has never won one. Getting a FBS win would be huge for the program in multiple aspects, one of which is certainly creating buzz and bringing in better gameday crowds.
  7. We could be playing Northern Colorado or SD Mines again and they would probably pick those guys to win. What a bunch of jokes - they're not even worth listening to.
  8. If Hanson was healthy and playing this week, I wonder if Golladay would get his shirt pulled? I mean, when you have Greg Hardin, RJ McGill, Jameer Jackson, Tyhre Ivery, and Blair Townsend, none of whom are seniors, why would you want a player to lose a year of eligibility if you’re already 4-5 deep in that area. I mean, they will still have all those players back next year too! I guess I would've liked to see him redshirt so he could be around all four years of the Mollberg era, but if he's not redshirting now this leaves one of two reasons in my opinion: 1) The coaches want to get him out on the field because winning against Portland State is very important as far as playoffs go and Golladay being out there will only help out Hendrickson and his production while Hanson is out. 2) Golladay is just that good. I mean, if he is going to get his redshirt pulled while UND is that deep at receiver, then he must be the REAL DEAL.
  9. When more than 1900 students show up regularly, then the $5/ticket thing gets tricky, but until then it’s not a big deal. Although it is only Wednesday, I'm not hearing as good of things as I did last week in terms of student interest in the game - hopefully that changes. This game will be a huge indication; if a lot of students show up for two home games in a row (especially with this one on a Sat. night and with most of the 'UND hockey-only-brats' being more interested in partying and talking about the NHL rather than watching football live) then I'll be convinced student interest/attendance is back where it needs to be.
  10. Noticed it and thought they looked good. It will be interesting to see how well they match with the green jerseys, cause they are great with the black jerseys.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4Tf9PTX_uI Highlights of Portland State's win over Carroll They will definitely be a challenging opponent.
  12. Week 2 sets up one of the better, if not the best, Potato Bowl matchups in many years. It will be a big game (in terms of attendance, hype, and FCS standings); unfortunately, Braden Hanson will not be a part of it. Although Hanson is out, the WR corps is really strong this year so hopefully that helps make Hendrickson's job easier than we expect. In addition, our RB depth is great too so we should be able to set Hendrickson up well if we can effectively run the ball. Of course, it is important to realize this Portland State team coming to town is no pushover either; they were picked to be a top 5 Big Sky team. In all seriousness, it was going to be a tough game to win even with Hanson at QB. Hopefully, we can do enough to pull out this all important home game. As the season is paced out in front of us, we have 10 games remaining. We need to win 7 of those 10 to hope to make playoffs and we have to play MSU, EWU (who beat Idaho last night), and SDSU (FBS) all on the road. Winning this PSU Potato Bowl game is very, very important as far as playoffs go. Let’s hope for a really good crowd and the great home field advantage that goes along with it. Let’s get this W!!
  13. Grand Forks Herald reported a scout from the Dallas Cowboys was in attendance last night looking at Brenneman and Braden Hanson; that gives you an idea of just how good this guy might really be. Of course, Hendrickson will have to step up and hopefully he can make enough big plays to pull out a win. As far as SDSU, I just hope we can make it competitive, but UND NEEDS this Portland St. win as it would go along way towards playoff consideration. It's tough to stop thinking about the Hanson injury, not only because he'll miss a couple key games and the depth is horrible, but also because he just looked so darn impressive before he got hurt.
  14. Yeah, Hanson threw a nice pass for a big gain to Hardin right after his injury, so it isn't too serious. I'd say Mussman's goal would be to get him back from the Big Sky opener @ Sac State. However, this really makes the next two games difficult, and the Portland State game is really important because of the crappy DII team we just played. We need all the DI wins we can get to make playoffs and without Hanson, Portland St. will be tough to beat if we can't throw the ball. I'm not saying Hendrickson can't throw for over 200 yds against PSU, but I'll go out on a limb and say if he doesnt UND loses. Hope the 5th year senior from Perham, MN has it in him, but I won't believe it until I see it 9/8. Also, the QB depth situtation just makes this injury that much worse.
  15. Yeah, that still really sucks though. In a meaningless game, we lose a player who looked absolutely terrific to start the game. With Hendrickson starting the next couple of games, it will be really tough to get a win. This really does stink. Hopefully Hendrickson can make some good throws against Portland St. and still get us the win but the San Diego State game looks really bleak now, if it didn't before.
  16. Faison said today on KFGO 790 that the amount of student tickets handed out for the game is the greatest its been in the last five years. Sounds like there finally will be some positive student interaction that will definitely aid the game time atmosphere.
  17. It’s important to appeal to the fans, especially the student body, early and often in this season opener. Why may you ask; because initial impression is everything. For instance, last year’s first game (a game against Drake- certainly not a better matchup than the S. Dakota game) drew the second largest crowd of the season. It was on a Thursday night and a home opener – just like this year. If you appeal to the students early, they will likely continue to come. That includes great tailgating, great entrance, and a great showing (including jerseys). Last year, so many students noticed the mediocre-at-best atmosphere during the first game, and left before the game was even over and never came back for another game. There will be near 10,000 (if not over) at the game tomorrow due to the hype, marketing campaign, and just plainly nothing else to do on a Thursday night, so the team and UND marketing department should do everything they can to appeal to the initial, first game crowd and get them to come back every week!! So I say let's see those new black jerseys right away; love this decision!
  18. Hey man it ain't that bad; actually, ACDC is pretty darn good for an entrance and considering the new black jerseys, "Back in Black" will be perfect. I know one thing, ACDC is a heck of a lot better than Nickelback (which they were playing)!!
  19. I'm afraid you misunderstood me; interest and importance are two different things. I would say the vast majority of us believe UND will win the game in a blowout; however, attendance is definitely an unknown. According to the student handing out tickets today at the student ticket office, "the tickets are flying." I'm optimistic about Thursday.
  20. Yeah, there really isn't anything more to mention here other than UND should win by a bunch and the younger guys get some experience in the second half. The more interesting topic would be possible attendance on Thursday night. I think last year's opening game, which also was on a Thursday night at 7, is a perfect game to base a prediction. Last year, the opener recorded 8484, so 9000 should be a safe bet for this Thursday. However, all of last season there wasn't a game with over 10,000 attendance, so how awesome would it be if that was broken on 2012 opening night! I don't think it will happen but it certainly is possible, so that's something to look for.
  21. I don't think I will have a huge problem with the black jersey/white pants combo just because the new black jerseys just look plain better than the green jerseys. They are a better fit which aids to the appearance.
  22. As far as jersey appearance and fit, let's leave that decision to the recruits and players who are actually playing and are still committed to THE PROGRAM - not the nickname - to decide what they like...and 9 out of 10, if not 10 out of 10, will want the tighter fitting jerseys. You look good, you feel good, you play good. PERIOD.
  23. Winning is about the only thing the program can do right now to get complete student and community support, because it certainly is nowhere close to where it could be...or should be.
