  1. Not sure what story you read, but the young man WAS operating a vehicle. With that, I agree it's time to move on to the season opener. I'm very excited to "listen" on Saturday and see where this team is at. No reason the game down in Wyoming isn't competitive all 4 quarters, giving the boys in green and white a chance to pull it out at the end. Go UND!
  2. Montana's offense is wide open. Fast tempo and not afraid to throw it a bunch! Key is playing jump balls and getting pressure; UND did not play jump ball situations well last year so that will be something to watch when the time comes. Montana's defense is questionable yet. NDSU has a very good offense so it's hard to rate UM's D accurately. I'd say they are vulnerable against the run, however. That's a good thing for UND. (P.S. If UND has the ball and the lead with less than 3 minutes to play, don't unnecessarily pass.)
  3. Yes, if UND's defense is going to take the next step from stats to actual wins, it will take turnovers. Even a poor to average offense can score points when given a short field. If UND's defense gets more interceptions this season, they'll get more wins. Simple as that.
  4. Big Sky Conference comes out on top over the MVFC. Go UND!
  5. True. I'm as excited as anyone in terms of what Bubba has going on with schemes and expectations. With that said, it's still upsetting that the uniform thing can't get done right the first time. NDSU, SDSU, USD, Montana, Montana State, etc. have no problems with this.
  6. Building support for a program is important, also. Strictly relying on in-person attendance is an underutilized strategy, and probably for good reason. You can't expect everyone interested in the game to be there in person. Should UND stop streaming their games? Yes, it may lead to a few more people in the seats, but it ultimately will drive away people who want to follow the team long-term. Having people interested in the team and following from afar is more important to the long-term success of any program. Casual fans are not the ones who donate big bucks and purchase season tickets; cater towards the die-hard fans and alumni that can't make it by providing web casts or arranging broadcasting agreements. Wyoming is doing this because its an FCS game and they believe they can get more people in the seats by not streaming it, but I'm sure there are plenty of Wyoming fans that cannot attend the game. Is Wyoming's athletic department doing them a favor?
  7. The coaches see the little things everyday, and I'm not going to pretend to know what they know. If Bubba and Rudolph believe Studsrud should be the starter, then at this point I support that decision. Now, I can form a better opinion on that after I see some games. Because Wyoming is a joke and won't be televising or streaming the game, I may have to wait for the Potato Bowl and the NDSU game to actually get a good feel for how Studsrud will do this season. Just remember people, 2015 is a different season than 2014.
  8. It's ridiculous. There needs to be at least a live webcam stream. Wyoming is way behind the 8 ball, apparently. Midcontinent going to Wyoming is comparable to NBC ND going on the road to televise NDSU road games. If not Midcontinent, then WDAZ would seem logical, but that likely would violate the Midcontinent agreement.
  9. So you think the 2015 squad is going to only win 4 to 5 games? If Mollberg is the starter this season, that means Studsrud failed, which means several losses to start the season. I have enough faith in Bubba and Rudolph to believe that Studsrud is the best QB on the roster; not someone who had a losing record as the starting QB last season and is coming off a a very difficult injury.
  10. NG Tank Harris - 1 game (Wyoming) FB Dustin Iverson - 2 games (Wyoming and Drake)
  11. Mollberg had the luxury of watching the games while playing scout team QB during his true freshman season. Studsrud didn't have that luxury - he deserves a proper chance as the starting QB. Joe had that opportunity last season; unfortunately, it didn't end well. I understand both schools of thought, and I agree with the latter of the two you mentioned, to a degree. You can't have a class system; the best player plays. Seniority is important, but you can't let it breed complacency.
  12. Improvement is more than possible. If it wasn't, then why not just throw every true freshman into the games, and if they perform poorly, assume there's no hope. If that low completion percentage improves and is well over 50%, and he's throwing more touchdowns than interceptions, I think Studsrud will have a good sophomore campaign. Let's keep everything realistic. No reason Studsrud can't complete 50% of his throws and have more TDs than INTs...
  13. Don't overlook the injury; Achilles tendon injuries are tough. I think Mollberg showed some good things last season, but he also showed some poor things (overthrows, bad decisions/interceptions, etc.). I think Studsrud's athleticism is what Bubba and Rudolph are looking for.
  14. The offensive line is not set by any means, at least in terms of just assuming they'll be dominant. They came on towards the end of the season last year, but they still have to prove they're up to the task. The 2015 squad is going to run the football a lot - the difference between averaging 3 yards versus averaging 4 yards is huge. Lets see how they do. Knauf won't rotate offensive linemen; I don't even care if there was sarcasm in that.
  15. The offensive and defensive lines concern me the most. Offensive line: there are two new starters and questions whether they can start off the season like they ended last season. Fullback is an extension of the offensive line and run blocking, and the suspension to Dustin Iverson is troublesome. Defensive line: huge unknown right in the middle at NG. Also, suspension to Tank Harris doesn't help.
  16. Look at his last few games when he was getting the majority of carries. Also, the line was a work in progress last year. Don't ignore that fact.
  17. Not worried one bit. Look at what Garman did last season with his small stature. Santiago is even faster. Also, it's a rotation at RB. Norberg (and hopefully Arrington and Olivera if healthy) will sub in to provide the punch needed for inside runs.
  18. The green jerseys will always be worn in the Alerus Center, so I would guess that would be the lighting condition; not varied at all. Hopefully they don't look as mismatched as it seems they might.
  19. How hard can it be to send in the color of the helmets to Adidas and get the jerseys to match the helmet? Is it the fault of Adidas for not matching or whoever coordinated the ordering of the uniforms as they didn't communicate the helmet color to Adidas?
  20. They look good. Nice, clean looking uniform that represents - to a degree - the tradition of University of North Dakota football. Good choice. In the future (next season), the "spice up" option should be all black uniforms with a matte black helmet, in my opinion. Of course, an all grey (including helmet) alternate set has been discussed as well.
  21. 2015 UND football captains are ILB Will Ratelle, G Brandon Anderson, TE Zach Adler, and OLB Dayo Idowu. Solid bunch - they should lead the squad well.
  22. http://www.gowyo.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/cameron_coffman_908004.html I agree with you. Coffman, from my estimation, is a very capable west coast QB but is no all-conference type performer. This game will come down to the play in the trenches and turnovers. Wyoming will try to stop the run and run the ball, which will be the exact plan that UND will try to execute. As a result, the winner will likely be the team that makes the least mistakes (turnovers and penalties). With Wyoming being at home, I obviously believe they have the upper-hand in that category. UND will have to play a "clean game" in order to stay in this one. I hope Bubba has his boys disciplined and ready to go! Go UND!
  23. After this weekend, most position battles should be decided. You want to have at least one week of game prep with the starters known, and two weeks is preferable.
  24. I agree with the others. No concern. Nothing wrong with trying to get more talent.
