Yeah, I agree with all of this; it's awful and something has to change. UND flat out embarrassed themselves, including the supporters, yesterday. No UNDproud after this one - horrible.
-
Beyond disappointing. I'm still in utter shock. This is the kind of performance where someone - either player or coach - loses a job, if you want UND football to be taken seriously. To justify yesterday's loss is completely pointless. UND didn't show up (to the point of the coaches and/or players giving up and not caring) and something MUST BE CHANGED. Figure it out Bubba. This was South Dakota - we handled a PAC-12 Utah far better ... Lets get to the Montana State game and get this bad taste out of our mouth. This is a desperate must-win and Bubba needs to get his squad right, fast.
-
Wrong. You need assistance.
-
A 45 - 7 loss isn't okay. If you think criticizing that type of embarrassment is an overreaction, then you clearly have expectations that don't include accomplishment and respect. That shouldn't be associated with UND football, in my opinion. You have to change something for this to not happen again; expecting this whole disaster to spontaneously resolve would be beyond idiotic. Bubba has to make changes now, obviously. What those changes are remains to be seen: depth chart, schematics, staff positions, etc.
-
A simple timeline as you describe doesn't work. If that was the case, every program would eventually turn around. Conversely, all top programs would stay on top when they lose their head coach, coaching staff, etc. It's clear that time is not the only factor, obviously. Bottomline is UND didn't get the job done today and that's really a major understatement. It's not a year-by-year plan issue, it's a failure today, this week, and this year issue. What happened today shouldn't happen with an opponent you defeated just the year before. What we saw today was clear regression and failure; to try justify that is pure ignorance, in my opinion.
-
I don't buy that at all. This is year 4 for Bubba and only year 2 for USD's Nielsen ... Today was a failure that went beyond the health of the linebackers. UND only scored seven points! The leadership of UND football (both coaches and players) failed today. That is unacceptable and is the kind of the thing that requires someone to lose their job.
-
Absolutely horrible today. I'm embarrassed for UND football and Bubba. I'll comment again after I gather my thoughts. This was atrocious. Get to work Bubba and crew and shape it up - this is horrible.

Big Sky and MVFC create Challenge Series
UND-FB-FAN replied to BarnWinterSportsEngelstad's topic in Football
Biggest reason for UND to beat South Dakota is that UND could run the Big Sky conference schedule undefeated again ... going 2-1 in OOC schedule would really set UND up for a top 8 seed in the FCS playoffs ... 10-1 (or I suppose 9-2 if drop one more) regular season record -
Worn last season against Northern Colorado. Still requires gray helmet. All in all, gray is not bad, I would just prefer black instead.
-
Agree; would look way better if black pants were used. Until grey helmets are worn, the grey pants are a tough sell.
-
Possibly most surprising part of all of gameday ... absolutely crazy appearing over there. Hope that continues vs Montana State just to continue the tailgating scene and positive student attendance.
-
South Dakota will be very good this year. A win by UND against them would be very big for seeding. Going 2-0 against the MVFC would really help UND's postseason resume.
-
That's the way it's done around the country, DI NCAA and NFL. Glad Alerus Center caught up to modern times and sports entertainment.
-
South Dakota will be a very tough opponent. Great out-of-conference game to prepare UND for the conference slate. Everyone who can travel to Vermillion needs to get out there and support Bubba and UND! Big challenge but big opportunity!
-
In 207, the sound system was not very good. I was disappointed. Since it's a new system, I'm sure it's either a settings issue or the acoustics of the Alerus are what they are. I was very impressed with the new lighting system. Very professional looking presentation on the field - nice, nice job! The new signage and green accents were all great touches, keep up the good work! Lastly, I thought the use of in-game music was much much better. It kept the fans and students who aren't there purely as diehards, like most on this board, engaged and entertained.

Screw the golden buffaloes and the Herald for running that crap. Sick of it. I, along with others, have commented on this before.

11.5k last year for potato bowl versus South Dakota ... tomorrow there will be more folks i.e., there will be 12k + Go UND
-
I'd love to see the UND video guys be proactive and put that Tamas Stewart hit on the intro video. Utah highlights (and other 2017 game highlights in the future) should be included on the intro video - keeps the fans engaged and following the CURRENT 2017 team.
-
Best of luck this season. Hoping to watch you guys crush BYU via TV.

Yeah, the cattle don't need much attention in September. Own the Farm

UND 38 Missouri State 31 Not sold on the defense yet, but I'll be doing my part in the stands to help them out. I expect the run game to come to life, hopefully. Go Fighting Hawks

Yeah, Donnell Rodgers is the only true starting ILB on roster. Need true freshman (hard to say, I know) Larson; at least the inside should be solidified for the next couple seasons once Larson gets his feet under him due to some live game experience.

@geaux_sioux said something along the lines that anyone who can pass can beat UND. That's news to me. Obviously corner is thin, but it takes more than a simple offensive philosophy to top UND. Defensive pressure will still be active for UND. With how UND wants to play offense; that is, ball control and increased time of possession, teams that like to air it out have to be careful. Last season UND played plenty of teams that like to air it out and UND won most, with Bowling Green being the exception. Against Utah, UND's pass defense was pretty good when the ball wasn't heading towards Utah's Carrington.

Bought a lot of time with his feet, limited mistakes (interception was a drop/tip off his targeted receiver), made some nice throws, and showed good composure/control at the line of scrimmage (expected out of 4th Year starter). Ute fans were impressed also. He just looks the part out there. Offense is very predictable, though, which is always hard on a QB.
