Joel knows everything he knows from Bubba, so that will be the ultimate scapegoat move, but I agree it’s the most likely scenario since UND and Chaves have set a precedent of mediocrity with no championship expectations.
-
That process has worked excellent for NDSU (Bohl leaves for FBS, Klieman leaves for FBS, Entz leaves for FBS, and the program keeps on rolling to new heights…)
-
Day by day …
-
They’ve been wobbly for years … but yes, they’ve fallen off.
-
Don’t worry everyone … there’s still 10 minutes left for UND to make the game look closer than it was/is so we can again go with “the team battled and just came up short” … again … and again.. and again
-
Meh … und football is dead until bubba is gone
-
No leadership. I mean, I guess there’s geriatric incompetent leadership.
-
Road victories … who needs em’? Bold strategy there, Bubba. onward. More and more Bubba ball.
-
Team looks unmotivated … again. These student-athletes aren’t stupid … they know their fearless leader is lost, and has been for a while. No fire. No motivation. No inspiration. No leadership. But, of course … onward. Bubba ball. Day by day. Decade by decade.
-
True.
-
If only bubba had better refs … if only
-
Nah, it’s bad. Another run up the gut for a td. 21-10 non-Bubbas
-
Both

Defense is still the obvious problem I see.
-
No, Bubba is actually the one robbing from UND and the supporters …

There’s no one on the current staff that could turn the program around. Dosch is the same mold as Schweigert, both leadership-wise and scheme-wise. Hard no thank you. He came out of “retirement” to coach a position group because nobody else wanted to join this decrepit staff. UND needs a complete reboot, meaning opening up all positions, and hiring the best candidate, but preferably that being somebody who has not recently been associated with UND (or ever been), and is on the rise. Likely a relatively young coach, looking to eventually move up to FBS.

I’d say that the University of North Dakota football program in terms of championship expectations is operated like some high school football programs in North Dakota, but that would be an insult to many of those high school programs.
-
Charter everywhere like a first-class football program but continue to settle for subpar coaching and every other season playoff *appearances* … sounds about right for UND athletics of late.
-
If UND can allocate funds for that, then they have the funds to buyout a greedy incompetent head coach.
-
No reading deficiencies, thanks for your concern (but no thanks). Been confirmed by outside parties. Anyways, you know what they say about opinions? Yeah, well, based on that infinite wisdom, I’m not surprised you have one (just like everyone else, including myself). It’s becoming very clear that executive action is needed, and I hope to see it become reality soon. I always hope for UND to do well, but we’re at that point where hoping for a loss is apparent to many, and that should tell you all you need to know about the current state of the program …

So this game is basically irrelevant in regards to the future of the program? If Bubba is still head coach in 2025, win or lose, then winning on Saturday isn’t going to help the future of the program either. You say losing won’t do the program any good, but most on here are not in agreement with your almighty wisdom. What a petty athletic department that UND has, no championship expectations or ability; but I guess if that’s the new reality, then better settle in …
-
Absolutely, this is no indictment on his character as an individual at all, but, division 1 football is a results-driven business. UND is not competing with regional rivals and putting up the results necessary to compete; it’s clearly time for major change.

I agree with all of this. What is incredibly frustrating is that it is unacceptable that “big alumni” are just getting ready for a change now. Should have been communicated years ago (2017 or 2021).
-
The issue with this is very few agreed with the extension (which creates this buy out issue). The head coach extension was not warranted to begin with. I know for a fact these concerns were communicated with Chaves and others prior to the extension, so the fact an extension was still issued and now less than a year later the football program is predictably regressing is incredibly frustrating and at the same time infuriating. Don’t blame Danny for leaving. I honestly am strongly convinced that either corruption or incompetence (or both) presently exist within the athletic department.
