  1. This staff won’t develop anything considered more than average or slightly above average defense. Bubba and his defensive assistants - despite being labeled “defensive guys” - are outdated and not capable anymore. Time has passed them by. It’s not 2001 anymore. The whole Holinka leaving for St. Thomas and Schwenzfeier getting promoted thing last off-season was a major red flag and proved to be true this past season. Bubba is in over his head. If/when Freund gets the head job, curious what he’d do with the defensive side of the ball.
  2. The “dawg” is more likely buried out someplace in his backyard…
  3. Wouldn’t it be neat if our coaches were actually aggressive and nabbed a transfer portal QB to shake things up?? wont happen, though, too boring and content with mediocre football. Competition is never a bad thing, unless you’re UND football. Also no NIL collective to assist.
  4. From the Birthplace of Michael Vick. Has to be good based on that, right?
  5. Wouldn’t surprise me, honestly. “Upon review of the driving under the influence charge, we’ve decided to issue a contract extension”. But I do enjoy the reference here. Not much to do in Brookings, even if you’re head football coach …
  6. This is why Bubba and his staff aren’t cut out for it. Way too much inconsistency. So much. There’s no pressure. UND football is like a country club. Job / contract extensions after losing seasons.
  7. Actually, to be fair, the “leave no doubt” mantra was used in 2016 after UND was playoff snubbed in 2015. 2016 was Bubba’s best season, team went 9-2 and was seeded #7 in the playoffs. They of course went on to choke away a home playoff game lead but it was still a very good regular season (vs a horribly weak schedule) in terms of wins …
  8. Because it’s subpar. Embrace reality.
  9. Agree with 1. As for 2., remember the FCS is very top heavy. The average FCS team is not a good benchmark for UND due to how watered down the bottom half is. You essentially stated that with the xDSU statement. Only around 5-10 programs (if not less) are true championship contender each season in the FCS. Now, how does Chaves view this? No clue. Probably content based on previous actions. Actions speak louder than words.
  10. Given the current rulings, you’re correct. Hard pill to swallow for smaller programs. Need to be imaginative and proactive in order to combat this.
  11. https://inforum.com/sports/bison-media-zone/mens-sports/mcfeely-ndsu-collective-moves-with-urgency-after-fbs-school-offers-250k-to-bison-player?__vfz=medium%3Dsharebar Fargo and NDSU are being proactive towards football. UND made no coaching changes, but they will also sit tight on current Alston awards and do nothing else to prevent football program’s deterioration. Not all on UND, of course; need supporters for UND football to step up and initiate a collective for football program. But hard to do that with the current lack of competent leadership in place for football program.
  12. Unreal. One of the biggest collapses and coaching failures in recent memory. How everyone still has a job on UND’s staff after the post-Oct.14 letdown is even more pathetic.
  13. Our pain will only intensify if (when) NDSU pulls out another playoff upset in Bozeman …
  14. Yeah, for UND to make progress, they need to add at least 5 bona fide stars in the portal … … good luck
  15. My gut feeling also. Delaying the inevitable firing / cleaning house. 2024 is starting to feel like a lame duck year …
  16. If he actually was doing that, he’d retire. It’s just lip service at this point.
  17. Okay … ever think that maybe the hire made in late 2013 by Brian Faison was wrong? Ever? Maybe it wasn’t wrong at that time (although in hindsight it definitely was wrong considering the alternative was current Washington head coach Kalen DoBoer) but it certainly is wrong now. Perhaps, just perhaps, Bubba Schweigert - who has had the opportunity to serve 10 seasons as UND head football coach - and UND athletic department should recognize it’s time for a change. The current setup may just not be the best one for UND football at this time, and it’s okay to accept that.
  18. Won’t do a thing … in my opinion … but it’s a nice little idea amongst a lot on here.
  19. It means the house just might indeed get cleaned a year from now …
