  1. Waletzko could be a day 2 pick (2-3 round), but definitely isn’t going later than round 5. Great talent for UND and puts the program on the map, especially if they can consistently develop prospects now moving forward. Step up UND staff and keep recruiting/developing! Love that UND will be hosting pro day in Grand Forks at Pollard Center. No reason to go to Fargo and perform at NDSU - had made UND look especially petty, in the past, in my opinion. I don’t care if scouts prefer Fargo, make them come to Grand Forks… Lastly, would love to see Waletzko get drafted by another former UND lineman, Chris Kuper, now offensive line coach for Minnesota Vikings. Vikings have two very good tackles currently, so Waletzko would be competing for back up spot, but would still be cool story if worked out.
  2. Just win … you make it sound so simple. Everyone wants to win, so there must be loser. Basic law of competition. UND athletics, outside of hockey, is failing at the competition part …
  3. God awful basketball program right now at UND. Sather is a bust hire it appears. Ish … I hate NDSU athletics, but they are far above UND right now
  4. Waletzko definitely getting drafted, possibly day #2. Big selling point for UND football program, real nice success story. UND and Bubba need to develop more pro talent. Easier said than done.
  5. Goes without saying, it has [apparently] been incredibly challenging for UND football to raise funds. Proof? Just look at the pathetic subpar salaries the UND coaches currently have. Compare that with conference peers and you then have your proof So, now that we have the obvious problem identified, how do we fix it? How does UND raise more for coaches salaries? Or… where does UND allocate it from? Hard to not knock on the athletic department given this. You get what you pay for, period. You have to invest to get a return. Etc. etc. etc. Lastly, the other massive funding issue: need to improve facilities further to keep pace with NDSU and SDSU.
  6. UND needs to be able to recruit and retain coaches beyond North Dakota. No one here, man. You want Joe Shmoe off the street to coach the running backs or any other position for that matter? That’s basically what UND is getting at this point with the salary they offer people …
  7. Thanks for that wonderful story. Glad 29K/year treated you so well. But … you missed the point completely. Like way over your head. It’s about competitive values here. Any high caliber DI position coach is worth a hell of a lot more than 50K in a season, particularly compared to top FCS schools, and especially all FBS school. If you were offered the same job in Fargo at a different company/location for 50K as opposed to 29K, which would you take? C’mon man ….
  8. Compared to what? All FCS programs? Sure. Dakota football programs (USD, NDSU, SDSU) - no
  9. UND football is severely underpaying everybody. Period. it’s not just NDSU comparison. do better. If you’re UND athletic department, look beyond f***king hockey.
  10. Need to pay assistant coaches better. Listing reports less than 50k salary - ridiculous for a DI program. UND football pays their assistants like horseshit. UND needs to get serious about football or else will be constant revolving door.
  11. Most ADs are … Tough talking about people/human beings this way, but UND needs some passion combined with intelligence in their athletic department. In my opinion, it’s currently lacking and has been for some time.
  12. Microcosm of the dysfunctional culture of UND athletics …
  13. Collegiate athletics and UND athletics are day and night different now compared to the 80s…
  14. UND has below average team. NDSU has above average team. Game played in Fargo. Result: as expected, NDSU wins by double digits. State of the program: HC Sather has been underwhelming at UND. Not successful hire thus far. Big picture, How does UND Basketball succeed in the shadow of UND ice puck? Obviously, Chaves doesn’t have the answer. Again, like Sather, Chaves has been an underwhelming hire also.
  15. Oh Tommy, so so damn good …. He engineered a whopping 10 points again the bizon. otherwise, UND offense pretty dang special, 24 points per game … UND needs to do better
  16. Fun game, until the end. Oh, and yeah, much of fan base gone that date also because of, you know, hOcKeY
  17. Holy! you think otherwise? Holy!
  18. Right … so NDSU has won multiple FCS national championships due to good fortunate aka “luck” and has nothing to do with their players and coaches just being good … hmm, interesting take. I don’t agree. I think it appears like good fortune but that’s just from the perspective of hoping they lose. It’s really just a good team/program making good things happen for them.
  19. Low. Bubba loves UND, and I enjoy Bubba as a person, but he needs to retire/resign for UND improvement sake.
  20. Anyway you spin it, today should be a positive day for UND. Should be able to at least project many of these recruits working out here at UND. It happens that way everywhere around the country on signing day: a day to celebrate years of hard recruiting by the staff. Of course, what actually happens with this class 2 to 3 years from now remains to be seen. For now, let’s all giggle and laugh and hope this class is the one that puts UND over the top.
  21. Again in the semifinals. Top seeded remaining team. Seems to me they are still pretty darn good. For U of North Dakota, have to beat the best to be the best. North Dakota State still remains on top. A lot of work to be done.
  22. I think he can be a good player, but when it comes to offensive line, need five good ones. Hope UND can get another good one or two, otherwise have to really hope current players take a BIG step forward this offseason.
