Cause that’s Bubba ball … day by day, toe to toe
-
Coaches - Schuster on 4th and 5 at the 30 is way better odds than your !@#!$ kicker lining up … figure it out by now, my God
-
No running game? No defensive secondary
-
!@#!$ kicker
-
He’s been damn good overall. Not going to disagree with you there. With how bad the UND defense is, Schuster is really the reason this team has a winning record.
-
Hard to say that when a receiver was wide the F open but the QB everyone adores screwed up
-
Nope. We’re both aware what was written. Backpedaling now won’t work.
-
Horseshit players in the secondary.
-
But wait, I was told earlier that coaches have very little to do with losing games … … ish
-
UND’s defense is so !@#!$. Bubba should be embarrassed.
-
It’s game day. I’ve taken a step back … for now. Let’s go Hawks - win the damn thing!
-
We’re basically saying the same thing, then. Let’s hope UND’s coaches and players are ready for Youngstown State University. Need to win today’s game to raise the expectations.
-
This is true, but are they realistically held responsible? That is the key point, here.
-
Typical bull$%!#. UND with its typical ass backwards !@#$. No attempt to compete with the big boys of the region (NDSU, SDSU, Minnesota, etc.). .. emphasize a niche sport with minimal competition in an over-funded arena …
-
University of Nebraska Husker football says otherwise …
-
This is actually true, though. Convince me otherwise. Players win the games and coaches lose them. Many knowledgeable sources in high school, college and professional football have supported this and I believe it to be true.
-
Damn that’s awful. And UND still has apologizers? Wow. Right the ship, God dammit
-
That would be the highest probable outcome, yes. History predicts the future. Hoping for the lottery on this one; better to be lucky than good.
-
Need facility and coaching salary upgrades. Also, hard to retain good players with new transfer rules. Not like the DII days.
-
UND football and Bubba need to grow a pair and beat road opponents whether it’s the opponent’s homecoming or not …
-
Football is just as popular as hockey, but I agree, Grand Forks and other northern ND/MN communities are naturally better at hockey than football due to limited competition. Folks love a winner (in football, basketball, and hockey) and congregate to it. It’s also why a bunch of folks from northern Minnesota and North Dakota drive past Grand Forks to Fargo … football, winning. UND missing out on an opportunity, but been doing it for years (decade plus). During the latter DII days, UND captured a lot of those fans by being better in football than Moo U.
-
Really comes down to how well UND stops the run and runs the ball on Saturday; that’s because that will allow UND to protect the ball and put YSU into challenging scenarios that lead to turnovers for UND. Last time UND traveled on the road (to Southern Illinois), the team was beyond flat and couldn’t run the ball. If UND *expects* to win this game and be a playoff team, they need to actually travel their physicality and be able to run and stop the run. With all that said, Schuster and Freund are always wild cards and I agree that UND’s passing game could be the difference if UND wins.

why do they sell out games? Think higher order. The Ralph is the Ralph. $100M facility (in 2001), but also, don’t forget, REA Inc. plays a major role in marketing and promoting the facility. Alerus Center and UND football has Spectra Venue Management … UND athletics is the common denominator between REA and Alerus … laziness towards one sport, effort towards another.
-
Q: Why only the Ralph? A: Laziness. UND athletics and marketing only has time for one sport, and it’s not the most popular collegiate sport in the country … there’s no question that UND athletics marketing should be promoting package deals, because until the Alerus is being sold out for games, you keep doing everything in your power to increase exposure to the product and have someone in each and every seat in the building. Not rocket science, it’s marketing 101. But again, UND athletics, lazy.

On paper, this is a good matchup for UND. Youngstown’s QB/passing game isn’t that explosive, but UND’s secondary has holes also. YSU does have a good running game, though, and their defense isn’t too bad. Off paper, as we know, UND needs to get over the hump and win a couple big road games per season. It is as much mental/confidence at this point as anything.
