But Bubba Ball
-
I’m sandbagging this one and proud of it. My heart wants UND to pull the upset. There’s a chance with turnovers and penalties if UND is prepared. My head definitely says Bubba is using this as a field trip for fun, the team will be overwhelmed, and I already predicted a score of Nebraska 38-14. Hope I’m wrong.
-
South Dakota State is doing just fine … defense held Iowa on a short field after poor punt. Top FCS program that is prepared to play in big games.
-
Yeah, gonna be a real tough matchup. UND offensive line is going to have their hands full. Unless Quincy can throw better this year, I actually think you need to stick with the better passer, likely Schuster. Nebraska has some really good defensive linemen, like Ty Robinson (https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/ty-robinson/43862) and big boy South Dakotan Nash “Polar Bear”Hutmacher (https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/nash-hutmacher/43812) in the interior. You very well may see a lot of #99 and #72 in red ruining UND’s offensive plays. on the bright side, hopefully UND’s defensive line - with a lot of depth - can stop Nebraska’s run game. Will be critical. If Nebraska can run at will, definitely will be blowout.

You’re the Debbie. Look in the mirror. No one will give a rat’s ass if UND is “close” other than a few on this board who carry a hockey stick around with them everywhere. Play to win the game. Only thing that counts. South Dakota State, UNI, Illinois State, NDSU, Montana, South Dakota, etc. just to name a few regional schools that have pulled out “mighty P5” victories … Move on. Your vendetta is getting old.

Yes, as said, Nebraska has more speed and talent on the line of scrimmage. BUT … penalties and turnovers …
-
Nebraska has more speed and talent up front, that’s not a question. What is the question (and also creates an opportunity for UND to hang around and instill doubt into Nebraska) is which team is better prepared and mentally tougher in this game. PENALTIES and TURNOVERS can keep UND in this thing and lead to a UND upset IF UND is the better prepared team. Given Scotty Frost’s tenure at Nebraska, it is possible, but Bubba’s teams have had their fair share of lapses also ..
-
That’s always well communicated on an online forum …

Crazy take. There’s no way in hell UND cares about UNI at this point. They will next week, but not today. UND is going to be playing in front of 90,000 fans against a Big Ten opponent. No way UND gives a flying !@#$ about next Saturday. UND should be - and will be - in the present and only the present. Now, with that said, I still don’t think UND will have the mental edge to overcome today and get the win unless Nebraska comes out crazily unprepared and hands it to UND … which could happen as Nebraska has been known to do that of late … but usually against other Big 10 teams.

Nebraska 38 North Dakota 14 Definitely hope Bubba and his squad proves me wrong
-
Sure, that’s great. But I’ve been there, done that. Nebraska football at Memorial is fun, but it’s always there, even when the team (UNL) has been atrocious. All I care about is UND making a splash today … go Hawks!
-
Yeah… I prefer actual wins, not just the moral [victory] kind … But I also get what you’re saying. I think Bubba is in over his head with this one (on par with other big games). Just what the doctor ordered for Big Red and Scotty Frost
-
misinterpret much? depth was never there, but was almost there… and now? not there, but almost there … almost …
-
Nebraska is on a 7 game losing streak … I don’t care if Grand Forks is hockey capital of bum !@#$ no where or if this is a FBS-FCS matchup … win the damn game Hawks! I suspect a loss… but am hoping for a surprise. The whole heart vs the head with this one.
-
This exact same thing was said 5 years ago…
-
I want Bubba to prove my impression wrong … Go Hawks!
-
Nope. Go Hawks
-
I want UND to win. Would be awesome. For that to happen, UND, Bubba, his team need to expect to win. Unfortunately, I don’t think UND will win.
-
Readiness and mistakes are related. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail, as the good Ben Franklin supposedly said. I have followed Nebraska football quite closely over the years; been to handful of their games. Frost’s teams have been very mistake prone and sloppy, hence his below average record. UND’s road record under Bubba also hasn’t been very good, though. Something has to give. Nebraska certainly has more talent, but that still hasn’t produced winning results. I agree on mistakes being crucial to this game’s outcome and really all games, which is why I’ve referenced preparedness (“will Bubba’s team be ready?”). Nebraska coming off a trip to Ireland where they suffered a critical loss is a key point here for this game. Will be interesting for sure.
-
It already has been and will continue to be an overemphasized area of critique all week in Nebraska. Frost will be looking to redeem himself on 9/3/22. Will Bubba’s squad be ready? I sure hope so…

verbal irony, much?
-
Such high expectations for UND football … Disgusting.

Okay … Debbie …

https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/college/a-look-at-und-footballs-history-in-fbs-matchups 2021 Utah State 2nd half implosion for both offense and defense. 2018 Washington game was embarrassing. Punting from opponents 40 yard line … 2017 Utah game wasn’t too bad, but again, wasn’t a win. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
