  1. They are not going to make a pitch for UND when they will be covering all of the Gopher games that aren't on B1G network. I believe Fox sports covers Denver already and I don't see them dropping Wisco anytime soon since they will have the same situation as the Goofs.
  2. What does it cost to have one installed?
  3. Christmas is coming up and I need something to ask for from the wife. I am interested in the FTA dishes, but need somebody to explain it to me. I know I would need a dish and receiver, but what do you get with it? Is it easy to set up? What does a good system cost? Most importantly, is it worth it; as in how many channels do you receive with them. How many sports channels? Do you get alot of football games on sunday? Can you pick up college games from all over the place? How many channels can you pick up on the average night? I would really appreciate it if somebody would take the time to give me a good detailed answer, as the Christmas time is the only time that the wife would allow me at acquire such an item.
  4. West Fargo carries Midcontinent and Cableone is in Fargo. Cableone has FSSN, but you need a digital box or digital antenna to get it. I believe that this is the same case for Midcontinent subscribers.
  5. I know that FSN was able to pick up and air the espn3.com coverage of the Sioux game and Bemidji St. game in the 2010 NCAA hockey tourney. The Sioux game was also on last year, but I am not sure whether it was planned to be on ESPN2 or not. Either way, it is possible for TV stations to pick up the games for the right price.
  6. What a stupid way to pick a coach of the year. A popularity contest. Whichever coach's fan base has fans with the least amount to do with their free time wins.
  7. So is this where we talk about the Sioux vs. AA hockey series this weekend?
  8. If we are fortunate enough for the bison to implode at home, like they did against a 7-5 youngstown state team, I am guessing that a few of our friends on this board are going to go M.I.A. for a few months. Maybe I am wrong and they will want to talk about the loss, but I am going to go out on a limb and say that we won't hear from folks like bison Dan.
  9. 2011 Grand Forks metropolitan population = 96,931 2007 Fargo metropolitan population = 192,417 NDSU attendance through transition years 2004-2007 2004 - 79,614 - 6 home games 2005 - 84,962 - 6 home games 2006 - 81,886 - 5 home games 2007 - 90,707 - 5 home games Total = 337,169 - 22 home games = 15,236/game Average percentage of Fargo metropolitan population attending (Based on 2007 metro pop.) = 15,236/192,417 = 7.96% UND attendance through transition years 2008-2011 2008 - 50,837 - 5 home games 2009 - 42,696 - 5 home games 2010 - 40,771 - 5 home games 2011 - 47,045 - 6 home games Total = 181,349 - 21 home games = 8,636/game Average percentage of Grand Forks metropolitan population attending (Based on 2011 metro pop.) = 8,636/96,931 = 8.91%
  10. And now cue the Bison fan excuses...... Should we go with: A.) "It was Thanksgiving weekend and all the students had left for home"....... B.) "It wasn't because there was less interest in the Bison football team, it was because there was less interest in who the Bison were playing"....... C.) "People actually had to go buy tickets to the game rather than having free tickets given to them"........ D,) "People in Fargo had forgotten that it is possible to host a playoff football game, after not experiencing that concept in 20 years"......... E.) "People were more interested in watching the Sioux hockey team play against Notre Dame in a nonconference series up in Grand Forks":.........
  11. The Sioux hockey team didn't have any problems selling out a nonconference regular season series that same Thanksgiving weekend last year and I am guessing that a hockey ticket costs a bit more than a Bison football ticket.
  12. Yes, you will pick it up on one of the channel 13 PBS's.
  13. i would have to check when i get home. i wonder if having the antenna like i do helps the signal at all. Like i said, i live in fargo and the channel comes in crystal clear with the antenna.
  14. i believe it has to be a digital antenna since those channels are digital. I don't know if the old school ones would work. Its worth it to go to walmart and get one if you enjoy college hockey because it gives you two more games to watch every weekend when the beavers are at home. Also i figured if i will spend 15-20 bucks a weekend on 2 webcasts, i might as well just go spend the money on the antenna even if it cost a little more since you can use it year after year for this series as long as pbs covers it.
  15. You should. Its just your basic digital antenna (rabbit ears). It picks up the digital ABC, Fox, NBC, etc. Mine actually says that its an HD one and it does come in clear.
  16. I live in Fargo and ran out to Walmart last year before the games and bought a digital antenna for my tv for $20 and now get all of the bemidji games. You can view all 4 of the PBS stations in the area with an antenna.

    Past Games

I am wondering if anyone has a tape of some past Sioux Bison games. I am looking for the 93, 99, and 03 games. My dad has a big b-day coming up and i figured putting these unforgetable moments on a dvd for him would be a great gift. If you have a tape of these games and would be willing to lend it to me I would definately burn a dvd copy for you, and would be willing to throw down a deposit on your game tapes if you are concerned about getting them back. Let me know if you have any of these. Much appreciated.

    Jerseys

So you are willing to root for a team that has "North Dakota" as their name rather than the "Fighting Sioux"? I don't see how that could be acceptable to you based off of all of your previous posts.
  19. Its not a preseason poll. It's a mathematical equation used to rank teams based on 3 criteria as I stated above. How can you judge teams when the sample size is so tiny right now. Case and point was Michigan Tech being on top of the pairwise after a couple weeks. The ranking system isn't even near relevant until early to mid February. I have no problem talking about preseason polls where there are humans judging the competition based on how they believe they will do, but saying that my team is the best team in the country because my team's record is currently 0-0 and all of my opponent's records and opponent's opponent's records are 1-0 is a joke.
  20. RPI takes into effect your record, your opponent's record, and your opponent's opponent's record. Considering 95% of teams have yet to play a game, these teams are basically be ranked by the second two of the criteria which in essence is their strength of schedule. That strength of schedule right now is being determined by a bunch of 1-0 teams. I don't really see how this is at all relevant.
  21. I didn't know you could petition a private company into doing what a tiny population of consumers wants.
