The most important is the NCAA championship. I would consider the McNaughton to be more...prestigious. Not sure if I want to use that word, but the McNaughton is a nicer older trophy that requires so much more to win. Often times conference regular season championships are won by the best team in the league. Though unbalanced scheduling does wreck this. I agree with Tim that the NCAA is just a four day tourney. Luck, injuries, refs, and site are huge factors (Playing B.C. anywhere in the east) in winning the NCAA. I think the biggest is hot/cold goaltending. The broadmore is a joke. Fun to win, but who cares (unless your SCSU and put up banners)? It really bugs me that the conference tourney champs get the auto birth, though this doesn't matter as much in hockey where so many teams go from the big conferences. I would like to see a conference tourney at the BEGINNING of the season. That would be interesting.

I'm assuming that the CCHA has their own trophy. At some point, I can see Mich Tech going back to that league (flip flop with Omaha). Would they sell the Mac to the WCHA? Store it? Or would the CCHA start using it?

How about the boos that Kupchella recieved from the fans when Bruce McCloud mentioned his name?
-
I didn't watch the whole game. I couldn't figure out the 5x3 at the end though.
-
Congrats on another championship Sioux! People doubted them, but they really came through in the last few weeks.
-
I called DirecTV and they didn't have a clue. Idiots. Why are they always so quick to pull the plug on things? I was cheering for the Dogs and they tied (felt like a loss at the end). I was cheering for SCSU and they got killed. I was forced to watch Michigan-Michigan St. due to DirecTV's blackout. Michigan St. was up and I was cheering, and Michigan tied it with a minute and change left. Then Michigan St. scores in OT, but the ref calls it off. I didn't see a single stick above anyones waist. But the SIOUX WON!!! I guess it was a good night after all.

LOL. I realize us commoners can be meddlesome and stinky, but it's good for you to see what the real world is like once in a while.

Lunbohm from Porter. HE SCORREEESSSSS!!!!

I always love TH's hesitation before saying.. HE SCORESSSSSS!!!!!! McMahon from Fylling.

YESSSS!!!! Maybe only one should be open to public, the other to special ticket sales for that area (nobody else allowed). There are always so many empty seats, and yet the bars are full. Only open during intermissions is an option, unfortunately, I don't think you could just have it open during intermissions because you'll never be able to get the people out.

TH commenting that some fans missing in a corner. He asked if it was a student part. Then the color guy talked about all the people in the bar. Looks like nothing will really change in the Ralph.

That is going to be a loud place. Anyone know what they average for fans? 6000 seems small, but boy are those fans on top of the ice. That place should be LOUD! Yet another new arena for college hockey. What a boom that has happened since Marriuci about 10 years ago. Lots of rinks in the past five. UND, Omaha, Mankato, DU, CC, and now BU, UMD, and some other eastern school. Any others?

I must say that I don't mind some differing opinions. I like to know about the new conference for the Bison and stuff. Though I guess I could live without it. It is getting really old just hearing the same smack back and forth. I don't want some homogenized site (though I don't want USCHO either). I think it's great that posters like bigmgr and umdogz RESPECTFULLY post here. I love hearing what they think about Sioux sports (and others) from non-green tinted goggles.

I guess I can watch two games. Too bad that the one I really want to see isn't on DirecTV.

Nah, I don't have anything against it. It's just hot and a wannebe of every desert community. Though the golfing is a lot better and it's a lot cleaner than any city in Nevada. I just cruise through on my way to Phoenix. Palm Desert and then a city on the border is it for the 5 hour trip. No radio signal out there. Very boring.

Geez. How lucky did Wisco get this year? They had to only play the top two WCHA teams twice each and BOTH WERE AT HOME!
-
How crazy is this? I just went to the game against LA last night. Great seats. 15 row up from behind the home goalie. I wore my Sioux jersey and told everyone that I was cheering for Bomber. Oh well, at least Bomber gets to make a playoff run again. Plus Greg Johnson is still there. Looks like I'm a Nashville fan. BTW, the Staples Center is nice on the outside. Nothing on the inside. Very disappointed in the arena.

Cosettas is good. Personally, the Savoy Inn has some great pizza/food as well. Looks like a dive bar, but the restaraunt area is nice. I believe it's a few blocks from the X.

In the 5-3-1 bonus, Notre Dame will play Wisconsin in our bracket. In the 3-2-1 bonus, Miami will play Wisconsin. I'd rather see Miami, but I don't think Notre Dame would be Wisconsin again.

Here's the March 3 update: See link for explanation/reasons. USCHO Bracketology No Bonus Midwest Regional: 13 Colgate vs. 4 Minnesota-Duluth 9 Denver vs. 5 Michigan West Regional: 16 Bemidji State vs. 1 North Dakota 10 Miami vs. 8 Wisconsin East Regional: 14 St. Cloud State vs. 3 Maine 12 Notre Dame vs. 6 Minnesota Northeast Regional: 15 Holy Cross vs. 2 Boston College 11 Ohio State vs. 7 New Hampshire Very interesting to see that St. Cloud drops out of the PairWise when the bonus is included (I didn't post it, because there could be different bonus amounts, and the brackets change with each one). I like the chance to face Wisconsin again. It should be noted that we will probably drop in the PWR after this weekend, and therefore could see a team like Minnesota who is ranked higher.

Some other interesting info from the stats link on the 'Hockey Home' page: Massen has played 17 games with 1 goal and 5 assists. Canady has played 16 with 2 goals and 2 assists. Marvin has played 19 with 2 goals. Palmo has played the least out of non freshman at only 10 games. The next closest player to Massen is Bina at 24 games. Also, Marvin has seen some time at D and not at forward. After looking at this, maybe Massen should be given another chance from the productivity perspective. Obviously Blais doesn't like something that is going on. Lots of people have commented on various game threads that Massen just doesn't seem to have the same work ethic this year. I'm guessing that's why Canady has been playing towards the end of this season. I was too lazy too look through box scores to see who was playing and scoring earlier in the year.

Interesting stuff. I guess by "playing better," I knew that some guys weren't scoring either. Many of the other guys listed have filled different roles ala Prpich defensively. Also those other players did some scoring at the beginning when Massen didn't. Hale was one who was struggling early, but I believe he sat some as well during that stretch. You are right, however, that it's tough to be productive when it's play a game and sit two or three.
-
I'm guessing Saturday is Seniors night anyways, so you have to reward these guys for sticking with the program and play them. As for the younger guys that don't play so much, I think if the Cup has been clinched on Friday night then do it for Saturday. The last thing we need is some guys getting hurt in a game that doesn't matter. I don't believe it would throuw off chemistry, since it's one game and you'd still have the WCHA tourney. As for Massen, I can't figure out why so many of us are obsessed with giving him another shot. He hasn't produced all year and it's not fair to some others who have played better. Hopefully over the off season Massen can find his productivity again, but he's been given plenty of chances this year and didn't seize them.

I almost pitty on you for having to go to the wanne-be Reno or Vegas. But it was a vacation and cooler out for you. All desert, a few mtns. and casinos, and 120 in the summer. But at least it's a hour from civilization (LA burbs). So did you visit the maximum security state prison a few miles down the 10? There's a rest area on the same exit. Just a few blocks away.
