Is this on regular cable or only for digital cable? It sounds an awful lot like the sports pack thing you order on digital cable.

I don't think there'll be a huge amount of double digit games. The NHL still allows the trapping defense and it's still up to the refs to call a tight game.

How about that Cal player that pushed the girl out of the way as a car backed over him? I believe the driver was doing it intentionally and the player had a leg broken in a few places.

I now see that NHL.com will stream the conference and lottery on their site.

Well it seems the draft lottery is today, but not covered. I do see on ESPNEWS that the lottery will be on at 3 ET. However, it seems that is when Bettman will have a conference followed by the lottery at 4 ET. So my gues is we won't get much TV coverage on ESPNEWS. I think this next couple weeks will be one of the craziest periods that any sport has ever seen. It's going to be fun to watch and keep track of.

I gotta chime in on the Fargo-MSP thing. I'll be living in Bloomington this fall (looking at you MafiaMan). I just took two trips to the Cities in the past week and obviously road construction is the story. But here is what's strange. The 494 loop is finally being expanded due to traffic congestion and jams. Fargo just expanded I-29, yet I can't ever remember anyone complaining about traffic on the I-29. Fargo wants to be considered a big city so bad that they just had to have a wider interstate corrider. It sure would have been nice if the federal govt. could have spent that money where it was needed. Like I-15 from Cali to Vegas. Talk about traffic on a two-three lane interstate. It's always strange to come to a complete hault in the middle of a desert when there was no accident involved. Did I hear correct that they are expanded I-29 farther north? The traffic delays due to construction are bad enough, but seems like there'll be a few more years of it.

Damn.

How much money would we have gotten for being in the Frozen Four this year? Since only DI teams get a share of that money.

Ask the marching band about those long term plans. Had to start on Dyke across from EERC. Not wide enough. Moved to 42nd and Demers. Had to pay plenty of money to get it in decent enough shape. The rugby team then moved in and tore it up. Then the Hilton came. Next the band practiced on the north lot of the Al. Sucky. But now that is gone too, plus I believe the Al wanted to charge the band at one point. I'm not even sure where they practice any more. I'd say move to Tech park, though I'm sure that will be gone in a few years. Isn't all that land where Dagwoods and Mini Mart at owned by UND? Though, I think apartments are going in.

Now that is entertainment!

ESPN is probably kicking themselves starting ESPNU at this time. They already show most of ESPNU's coverage on ESPN and very few people actually get to watch ESPNU. But consider that they now have dropped the NHL (though I think they'll get it back) and now their golden child of the NBA will be going to a lockout. I heard David Stern on the radio the other day saying they need to get a deal done now. At the same time ESPN gets better ratings for non-sports like poker than anything else, so maybe they'll be happy coming up with more crappy programs. Personally I think hockey will only prove to every other league that you can survive an extended lockout. Meaning the NBA is next. Then I believe baseball is up again and even the NFL is having problems due to non-gauranteed contracts and what not. I hope hockey gets something done since I'm moving to the Cities and won't have anything better to do than go to games. I like the sport too much to boycott it. It also sounds like the big nets they tested the other day really worked.

I think you're right, but didn't they formally meet with Maine when the hockey team was there?

I believe the team was in the black. So you'd think they'd keep it to make some money. I read that they've been trying to get a major junior team. I didn't realize teams used the major junior teams as their minor league teams.

I believe UND was really taking a close look at Maine due to hockey dominance and closeness in size of universities.
