  1. just in the NDSU game with UMD is off... can't wait for the UND-UMD conspiracy theories
  2. I would think Bubba should be worried about the game with Upper Iowa a prov d2 member (classified as non-d2 which hurts the SSI much more than even playing a IAA.. ask UNA I don't think a playoff berth for UMD is out of the question next year with 6 teams qualifying for the playoffs (regionally) and this game can not help their chances. I wouldn't think out-of-conference games with NSIC teams would be too difficult for UMD unless some sour grapes are involved a link to upper iowa
  3. My favorite part is Ed Schultz being tied for second as enemy of the state
  4. except mankato...sioux women win 89-40... OUCH!. I think the bison-sioux women's game should be pretty entertaining this year (as much as wbb can be) as it appears the state's and u's are the class of the women's ncc. also maybe the SU men's team doesn't stink as bad as previously thought with a W over sc last night. i wonder what kind of crowds they will get for the "final" bison-sioux games at the ralph this year.
  5. Actually college lacrosse was mentioned before college hockey but i won't go there
  6. I came across this article which I thought might interest some of you hockey folk http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/200...-08-notes_x.htm
  7. Soon you can forget about the Big East after Miami, Virginia Tech, and Boston College leave for the ACC maybe the Big East will lose its BCS autobid (probably not as the Big East Commish also is the BCS commish. Call me crazy... I like the BCS (for IA only) it creates a buzz before and after the bowls and it is not like the any non-BCS schools would be in these bowls if the BCS didn't exist.. i don't a have a link handy (and I am lazy) but if you go back over the last 20 years or so.. you would be hard-pressed to find more than a few non-BCS teams in current BCS bowls.
  8. Mensa was founded in England in 1946 by Roland Berrill, a barrister, and Dr. Lance Ware, a scientist and lawyer. They had the idea of forming a society for bright people, the only qualification for membership of which was a high IQ. The original aims were, as they are today, to create a society that is non-political and free from all racial or religious distinctions. The society welcomes people from every walk of life whose IQ is in the top 2% of the population, with the objective of enjoying each other's company and participating in a wide range of social and cultural activities. www.mensa.org
  9. On the WDAY news last week they announced it as a home game in fargo ($$$ for UMD maybe to help them boost their scholarships) however they did say the deal was tentative and if the new coach did not want to play the game they wouldn't. I would think that would be somewhat awkward for a new coach not to be bring his own assistants, however UMD has done well in the NSIC the last few years so they are probably decent coaches. I realize a linebacker coach at UND wouldn't take the same job at UMD. I was thinking more along the lines of a UND GA becoming a UMD linebacker's coach or a UND linebacker's coach becoming a D. Coordinator at UMD (not targeting tibesar just an example). It think this will be a good job for Bubba .. once UMD up's their scholarships they should be competitive year in year out in the NCC.
  10. i meant bubba i edited it
  11. Do you think bubba will take any of his assistants from UND.. according the herald article it seems like the UMD assistants feel like they will be staying. NDSU has scheduled a game with UMD next year.. however i think there is an "out" clause if the new UMD coach didn't want to play
  12. Congrats to Bubba.. I am sure he will do well at UMD. However.. I want to know how he got that tan... is there that much more sun in GF?
  13. I think not playing in Hoops in an interesting decision.. I know playing in FB would hurt UND's home playoff chances... but the SSI (the bible of Roger Thomas ) is calculated differently in hoops. A win over NDSU would be worth more than anything other than a win on the road versus a .750 team. I don't know about you but considering the recent "success" of the bison men I would take my chances versus NDSU rather than a .750 D2 school. I think the game would be fun.. but if not.. that is fine too http://www.ncaa.org/library/handbooks/bask...allHandbook.pdf 2. Overall strength-of-schedule index: Win on the road versus a team at or above .750 .............17 points Win versus Division I team................................................15 points Win at home versus a team at or above .750...................14 points Win on the road versus a team at or above .500 .............13 points Win at home versus a team at or above .500...................12 points Win on the road versus a team below .500, but above .250............................................................................ ...11 points Win at home versus a team below .500, but above .250............................................................................ ...10 points Win on the road versus a team at or below .250............... 9 points Win at home versus a team at or below .250 .................... 8 points Win versus non-Division I or II team ...................................7 points Loss versus Division I team ................................................7 points Loss on the road versus a team at or above .750............. 7 points Loss at home versus a team at or above .750 .................. 6 points Loss on the road versus a team at or above .500............. 5 points Loss at home versus a team at or above .500 .................. 4 points Loss on the road versus a team below .500, but above .250 ................................................................................ 3 points Loss at home versus a team below .500, but above .250 ................................................................................ 2 points Loss on the road versus a team at or below .250 ............... 1 point Loss versus non-Division I or II team..................................0 points Loss at home versus a team at or below .250................... 0 points
  14. Not trying to bring up the should we/shouldn't we play topic again... but the D2 Football Football Committee chair said this about SSI next year on the D2football.com board. The committee will review the SSI in the off-season. We already had some discussions this past week in Alabama. I would say this about the SSI, its probably pretty close to what it will be. I think it wasn't so much the I-AA opponents that caught teams - it was the non DI/DII opponents (i.e. DIII, NAIA) that caught them....at least in most of the situations. Also. UND lists these dates as open next year on the AFCA board 9/4 & 9/11 & 11/6 http://www.afca.com/lev2.cfm/317
  15. Lueck played football at NDSCS.. I don't know if he played hoops there though. Either way since it is his sixth year I would think he would be out of eligibility after this fall semester.

    New Region

Not enough teams (4.. they are listed as independents).. here is his entire post Sir: Thought I'd pass along the realignment. Northeast Region: PSAC, WVIAC, NE-10 Southeast Region: CIAA, SIAC, SAC, GSC Northwest Region: NSIC, NCC, GLIAC (plus 4 independents) Southwest Region: LSC, RMAC, MIAA We were required to align the regions more numerically equal and with a minimum of 3 conferences per region (the GNAC is by DII definition not a football conference). One region as a result would have looked fairly menacing geographically. Had the GLIAC remained in the Northeast, the WVIAC would have shifted to the Southeast, and the Gulf South likely shifted to the Southwest. That would've resulted in teams from Georgia with teams from Colorado. Just as much a geographic hodgepodge as what the new Northwest Region will look like. And in reference to another's posting on a different thread....it is indeed set in stone for 2004. Thanks. Steve Murray PSAC Commissioner Chair, Division II Football Committee

    Clueless fans?

"faster" teams from the south have not fared to well indoors on turf against "corn-fed north dakotans" in the new millenia.. to mention a few NDSU 03 28-7 W over Tusculum 01 48-9 W over Angelo State 00 52-7 W over TAMUK UND 03 29-22 W over UNA (including garbage score) 03 42-23 W over Newberry

    next year

here is some more "speculation" from a bison fan. i think lennon's goal is to coach UND to success at I-AA. is UND considering a move... who knows .. they are normally pretty "tight-lipped" about such things to outsiders. if UND has no desire to move up.. i feel that is the only way lennon would consider leaving.. and i think it would have to be a pretty good job... similar to glenn from UNC taking the job at Montana a few years ago.
  21. When listening to the game you can really tell the announcers don't want to be there... that's too bad... as far as the game i think lueck could have made a big difference look what he did against SU and made a big difference in the UNA game in the few minutes he played.. it seemed like a typical UND game this year -lot of defense.. offense a bit inconsistent but this time they lacked a big play. the irony is that the fumble return by GVSU (did that guy look slow or what.. a little db getting caught by a fb) was the type of play UND seemed to make all year.
  22. We saw the whole thing in Fargo too.
  23. i just tried to get into the site for the first time today and it appears i am banned as well.. apparently the whole north dakota university system is banned... i think that is going a little overboard
