  1. athletic directors at UND and South Dakota have started the ball rolling toward what they hope will become a border-state rivalry. and just to stir things up a bit- its the offseason
  2. OK , and Al Gore won Florida too!
  3. North Dakota State Claims Inaugural North Central Conference Cup
  4. One stat I found interesting, UND is 16-1 when Schieving pitches (in the one loss JJ went 4 innings and gave up 0 runs) and 21-15 when he doesn't
  5. even if the NCC has a max of 15 scholies in non FB/BB sports (i will reluctantly take your word, I would like to see a link though), UND's male scholie max would be 106, while Women's Sports could only have 85.2- if UND wanted to match their scholarships to enrollment (i know there is a little "wiggle room"), UND could have up to 90.5 scholarships for men IF they fully funded all of their women's sports, hockey included. So of those 90.5 scholarships for men you know UND will not cut funding for Hockey (18), Basketball (10), and if they were to fully fund 63 for football (you know how Roger doesn't want to compete with teams with more scholarships ) that equals 91. (91>90.5). So essentially all but three men's sports would be non-scholarship, unless UND added another women's sport.
  6. Is UND women's hockey not fully funded? If not I could see a Martha-Burke type raising a stink about that alone If UND were to fully fund FB at 63 scholie level, the max amount of Men's Scholarships (with the rest of sports at DII) would be 124.3 At the DII level the max amount of women's scholarships would be 85.2 scholarship levels -both totals include DI hockey that's a ratio of 59.3% male, 40.7 Female-probably not going to cut it when UND is 51.5% male, 48.5% female So, unless UND decides to drop or underfund some Men's sports (swimming, golf, baseball, track), they would have difficulty staying title IX compliant under Marcil's proposal
  7. -star2city, to be fair I actually got the link from The Sicatoka, in a hockey thread no less. as far as the football alliances go, allowing a school to compete in a different division for football does make some sense (the economics of football are so much different than other sports), however how many DII teams would be able to "upgrade" their Football to the "freedom level"? adding 27 scholies for football would make it quite difficult for a DII school to stay compliant with title IX (unless they droppped some men's programs) as they are subject to DII scholarship limits for women's sports.
  8. Is the NCAA trying to avoid an MIAA-MIAA matchup by having Emporia at #3?
  9. Who moved ahead of UND (who went from 2 to 4), #3 Emporia went 0-2, Maybe Wayne St #4 who won the NSIC, but #5 MSUM went 1-2, and #6 Missouri Western didn't even make the MIAA tournament
  10. NDSU beats UND 14-3, UND plays Mankato tomorrow, UND-MSU-M winner must beat NDSU twice to win NCC title
  11. Thanks for the update Teamsioux, the problem is even if NDSU wins the conference (tourney), they will have a difficult time making the regional as only four teams are selected and NDSU is 7th. UND's strong non-conf record and and 4 wins over NDSU should help them in Selection Process I agree with you legend, having your best two hitters (Piep and Baso) bat first and second doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It seems the lineup would be much more productive with those guys batting in a position to drive in runs. I do like Wagner coming out of the pen though, I like watching him sprint onto the field like John Rocker
  12. Link quotes
  13. According to this this it says the average incoming freshmen ACT score at UM-TC was 24.8. The 28.1 number you cited was for a specific program the Carlson School of Management Here are the UM-TC admission requirements
  14. With apologies to Vince. The same reason a DII women's BB team averaged more fans than over half of the DI men's hockey teams
  15. Sioux Sweep SDSU over the weekend to remain in first, one game ahead of Mankato, and 3 games ahead of NDSU. Should be an interesting finish, the final week UND plays NDSU twice and has four games with Mankato.
  16. that's a debate unto itself, non-scholarship but they do give financial aid based on athletic ability, according to some news articles Colgate (who made the championship game) gave the equivalent of about 55 scholie in aid to athletes.
  17. thanks for the update, althought the results could have been better , why would UND not start their top guys? With the games being moved up last week all four of those starters would have 3 or 4 days of rest. (which is what most college starters get). And whoever pitched today could take 4 days off before starting against SDSU on the 18th. Also of note, apparently 5-2 and 2-1 wins are "stomps"
  18. Does that game come with the dataflix season pass (I don't have it but others around here probably do)? I am tempted to buy the game as Bison-Sioux baseball games are my favorite event outside of NDSU football games. I bought the Basketball game at REA this year on dataflix and it came through pretty well, I am kind of concerned about the quality of the feed coming from Kraft Field though. Also I really like to watch baseball with a beer in my hand, and I doubt my employer would like to see my watching the game at my desk with a beer . Anyways updates would be much appreciated

Athletic Departments actually do "pay" the tuition, fees, etc. Figures provided by athletics officials show that about $4.5 million of the department's $18.6 million budget in 1999-2000 was spent to cover a variety of expenses charged by the university or affiliated organizations. many articles stating this can also be found.
  20. Sioux split with SCSU yesterday. Also, according to this it appears the UND-NDSU baseball games will be webcast on dataflix.
  21. http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/news/8381141.htm According to the grand forks homer, NDSU is going IA in football from RT "They're just looking for a way to get their mitts on it."
  22. Seriously, that story made me a little hot, seeing football players like Digger, Kleinsasser, Phil Hansen, Tony Satter etc raise that trophy is one thing, I think watching five 130 lb kids trying to raise that thing after raising $50 in nickels would make me puke.
  23. I would rather have the trophy in RT's bedroom than have two fraternal organizations compete for it.
