actually.. UNA beat 6 teams with sub .500 records, they beat 7 teams with records of .500 or better. UNA beat was 2-0 vs playoff teams in the regular season.. UND was 0-1. the problem with the SSI is the "incrementalization" assigning points to a win based on the opponents win% being between two values... a win over an 0-11 team is worth as much as a win over a 5-5 team.. UNA's first 13 opponents reg. season winning % was 56%.. UND's first 12 opponents winning % was 55%.. not a big difference.. the reason for the big SSI advantage a word I like to call "incrementalization". the take home message is.. if the teams played like they did last sat., it doesn't matter where the game was played.. UNA loses.

I would love for DL to have gone to Idaho .. but I don't think that program is going anywhere and I don't want to wish failure upon a north dakota boy like dale who is a class act. A side note during the UNA-UND game the UND Alumni Foundation was running ads with a song i am assuming is the UND fight song... with lyrics that said blah blah blah... north dakota U. was UND ever known as North Dakota U or has it always been UND?

I can't say for sure whether down the road SU would want the rivalry to continue.. however playing d2 teams doesn't hurt DIAA teams as bad as vice versa. The GPI used for IAA (similar to d2's SSI) uses the Massey index for schedule strength. The massey rates all teams in all divisions http://www.masseyratings.com/rate/cf-m.htm currently the sioux are 115, ahead of many IAA schools and some IA schools. Therefore playing the d2 sioux (assuming the sioux continue to be succesful, and with Lennon i think that will continue for a while) would help out a team's GPI greater than playing a weaker IAA team, (schools like liberty, hofstra etc)

hate to keep on kicking this around but.. the win over a IAA did not help UNA, but they played a prov D2 school which only gave them two points towards their SSI.. the main reason UNA is at UND. TAMUK played two IAA schools and is hosting this week ps I don't care if we play anymore just putting the facts up
