  1. http://www.cnbc.com/2015/07/06/obamacare-the-reason-for-big-rate-hikes-merger-mania.html http://www.forbes.com/sites/robertlaszewski2/2015/06/29/why-the-affordable-care-act-isnt-here-to-stay/ The hits keep on rolling---- http://www.forbes.com/sites/nextavenue/2015/07/05/for-many-obamacare-is-becoming-the-unaffordable-care-act/ Obamacare’s “Cadillac Tax,” which takes effect in 2018, is encouraging employers to switch to high-deductible plans so employees will share more of their health care costs. It’s a 40% excise tax on health benefits companies provide beyond a certain threshold — $10,200 for singles and $27,500 for families in 2018. (The average premium last year was $6,025 for singles and $16,834 for families, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.) A recent Politico.com story, which called the Cadillac tax “the next big Obamacare battle” said the benefits consulting firm Mercer estimates that roughly a third of employers will owe the Cadillac tax in 2018 — and roughly 60% in 2022 — if they don’t change their plans. Says Fronstein: “The Cadillac tax will drive more and more employers to adopt plans that raise the deductibles and lower premiums.” Employees in high-deductible plans are seeing huge increases in out-of-pocket costs and some are trimming medical care as a result. The Truven study says CDHP members saw a 69% increase in claims-based, out-of-pocket costs over three years compared to a 23% increase for non-CDHP members. Also, it notes, after switching to CDHPs, members had fewer medical visits and lab services, smaller supplies of prescription drugs than expected if they’d stayed in non-CDHP plans and were less likely to receive care for existing chronic conditions than their non-CDHP counterparts. Similarly, the Commonwealth Fund report said 44% of underinsured adults reported not getting needed medical care in the past year because of the cost. It also found that 41% with deductibles of $3,000 or more reported problems paying their medical bills or were paying off medical debt. Meantime, health costs are outpacing inflation. Health care prices have risen 15.6% since December 2007, while consumer prices overall increased by 11.1%, according to the Altarum Institute. Some health insurers are proposing premium hikes of 15 to 35% in 2016, according to the Obama Administration. And many people buying insurance through the Obamacare exchanges are facing unexpected medical bills that sometimes greatly exceed the Affordable Care Act’s caps on out-of-pocket expenses, according to a recent Wall Street Journal article. Isnt that wonderful. Taxing companies who provide great insurance to their employees so the employees have to pay more out of pocket. .
  2. Absolutely incorrect on the garbage comment. It wasn't family. It was for one person. Insurance paid 80%. us 20%. The 800 plus is for one person is a gold plan. So you have a Bronze plan I take it. If not you are subsidized or have group. You need to do more research. There are articles almost everyday on how the ACA is negatively effecting people. One of the best ones is Oscama is going to start penalizing people who have too good insurance. Yep they are going to fine people or companies where the premium exceeds certain limits. So its going to force companies to offer crappy insurance so the employees have a greater out of pocket expense. Great stuff .
  3. They have done many studies over the years. Astronomical start up costs and a lack of institutional, community and donor support were some of the big concerns that didn't make it viable. Not saying there aren't fans who would love to see NDSU have a hockey program. There just aren't enough of them who would write the check.
  4. My wifes premium quote before Oscamacare 300.00 a month. After Oscama was implemented 800.00 plus. We took the COBRA option which was cheaper and better insurance. WHO ever takes the COBRA option. It rarely happens. After 18 months the Cobra ran out so we were at the mercy of the rigged ASA market. 849.00 a month. Of course NOW my wife has maternity CARE and a host of other useless stuff we will never use. So many lies involved in this scam.
  5. The real problem is Oscama has made the ACA so convoluted and unworkable it might force us to a one payer system. This was his goal from the beginning.
  6. Its a ideology where they think a one payer system is best. IOW socialist health care.
  7. Poor people were not turned down for healthcare. All they had to do was go to the Emergency Room. One of the supposed selling points of Oscamacare was it would lower premiums because the poor would now have coverage. That has now been disproven and is a lie. Why you ask? One---ER visits have not gone down. TWO---the insurance that poor people can buy on the exchange have such high deductibles and out of pocket expenses they still cant pay it. So we-I are paying for insurance that they still cant afford to use. Three---many who couldnt qualify fo Oscamacare were kicked over to medicaid. Four--by law the insurance companies are Guaranteed a profit. Thats right. Oscama sold us out. A fund was set up to pay the insurance companies on top of what they were getting. The fund is now gone so guess who gets stuck? Question to you---how can you justify a rate increase on a premium from 300.00 a month before oscama to 800.00 a month after Oscama is implemented? Or the 6.6 million people who were fined because they refused to purchase a crappy policy. Theres more but this is a start. ps--the excuse that they didnt expect to treat that many sick people and the costs involved is BULL-----------. They have actuaries who have been figuring this out for a century or more. They new exacty what the costs were. This is just another ruse to raise rates.
  8. I over heard a comment that NDSU wouldnt be playing in GF on his watch. It was well known they didnt want to play UND but the bottom line at the end was if we were going to play the game it wouldnt be in GF.
  9. I agree. But the PC crowd or the fear of the PC crowd wont let it happen.
  10. If you have never been to a NDSU-UND football game you know not of what you speak. Did you say MO. State? LOL
  11. Ok gotcha. I don't know why they try and down play it either because the dome will be rocking.
  12. Wow just wow.
  13. They did? My mistake. Prices have gone up every year for awhile now.
  14. Never said the game wasn't a big deal. Don't know why you are trying to put words in my mouth?
  15. 60.00. FYI---season tickets didn't reflect that increase as tickets only went up like 5-10 bucks. All they did was re-monetize the individual games games. The increase will only be felt by those who buy single game tickets and the allotment to UND.
  16. That wasnt a complaint. It is an absolute fact.
  17. Throw in a boatload of immaturity and a couple scoops of troll and thats what you get.
  18. Thanks for the confirmation. I also have never heard of a traveling trophy being played for out of the regular season. Plus the fact the Sioux nickname isnt on the table anymore there is no reason to play for it.
  19. Wow you sure like to use extremes. But take this in to consideration. NDSU has done very well against FBS competition even though we are at a scholarship disadvantage. If that scenario stays the same then yes NDSU would have a difficult time playing (for example only) Big Ten teams every week. Depth would be a huge issue. BUT give NDSU the same amount of full rides that the big schools have. You dont think NDSU wouldnt be competitive?
  20. The majority of fans anywhere dont have a clue what the costs of such a move entails. So you are going to believe a bunch of tweeters? LOL
  21. Only one person is foaming at the mouth at being the next Boise State and thats lakes. But hes been pretty much shut down over there. Whats stopping us from moving up? The NCAA rules for one thing. You have to be invited to a conference thats FBS. They no longer allow you to be an independent and then look for a conference. Plus there are also a host of other considerations one has to make before such a move can be undertaken. But the NCAA rules is a biggie.
  22. At least you wont repeat the same mistake in the future. See you get a two-fer.
  23. Or every gun owner for that matter unless you are of a certain religious affiliation. Then you are a lone wolf.
  24. Please do but do you really want to embarrass yourself? The reason I say this is because I once said that to a lawyer friend of mine in conversation. His response was "WHY do people keep believing that premiss because nothing could be further from the truth.
  25. FYI---if a lawyer ever tells you that---hire a different lawyer.
