  1. If I understood correctly... I think what he has saying was that when the teams were evenly matched on paper the head-to-head matchups were mostly won by UND. The only time NDSU was able to win the Nickel Trophy game year-in and year-out was during a period of time when UND was a middle of the pack team in the NCC. So, basically in years when the Bison had a great team and the Sioux had a mediocre team the Bison would win. In years when both teams were good the Sioux would win.

Is that what you were saying, SIOUXFAN97?

i'm saying that it all sports...after we beat the ndac in fb in 2003 with everything else going on at UND (rea), the ndac decided to take their fball and go home...unlike the ndac und had a SECOND d1 program to fund and grow so at the time it wasn't right to go d1 in everything else...with as much money at the rea is making for the entire athletic department and the crumbling of d2 around us we decided it was time to jump up...ndac had a five year head start on us but for most if all sports we have caught and if not passed the ndac like that five year head start they had never even happened....

  2. I enjoy jokes at the expense of the AC as much as anyone, but what I don't find quite as funny is the thought of our guy Muss recruiting "toe to toe" with Bohl. Having this ESPN infomercial to push demand is downright frightening.

bohl is as good as gone after this year...and maybe muss too....when und and the ndac are equal footing und always wins...the farther we get away from the transition the better....i hope the ndac enjoys this but it isn't going to last...

  3. a really really small thing that stood out after rewatching the game was a tackle that kuksa made on a kickoff late in the game....he was able to get downfield quickly, break away from the guy blocking him, and make a perfect form tackle. and he made it look easy

peters and otto need to sit and goard and or labatt or even hickel need to play more....i think it was peters that totally whiffed on the first attempt at zach on the screen play from hell

and i don't think zenner was the same after goard introduced himself to zach in the backfield....

  4. The refs sucked tonight. They missed calls for both teams. That first down pass that skipped to the WR, really? The missed delay of game before the very soft (albeit boneheaded) late hit out of bounds. The missed unnecessary roughness against UND on a punt coverage. And when they did call something they sounded befuddled by what they were attempting to say.

Players who didn't start but should have:

    Mike 'Big Snacks' Edwards

When he was at NT the run defense actually made some plays. At times he took a double team 5 yards into the backfield. He needs to start. No offense to Henson but he just isn't a D1 athlete. He may know what he's doing back he isn't physically capable of doing it. Mike is.

    Joe Mollberg

    Need I say more?

    Derrick Goard

He killed Zenner on a blitz. The poor guy landed on his numbers after Goard blew him up. Goard also sliced threw the line like his hair was on fire to stuff Zenner a couple times. He made a difference when he was in there and needs to play more.

Also Meindel had a bad first punt and responded with an absolute bomb. He will be a good one for sure.

exactly!!!! this game was given away needlessly bc certain guys that should be playing from the start aren't....mollberg, edwards, goard, maybe kuska

  5. one position i know better than the other positions and its the qb...i went to one practice this year and i posted that joe was clearly the better qb from what i saw...the only thing i'm upset about from this game is that we would have won this game if joe would have started this game....

  6. i hope coach k has gg, cordero, dom, and dayo fired up and ready to TACKLE and the front three tie up their guys long enough to let these guys do their thing...o-line is gonna do just fine tomorrow

    und 35

    sdsu 24

  7. Trolls that write the truth. Both schools protect their flagship program, at a high cost. Bison fans recognize the accomplishments of Sioux hockey. It's high profile. Bison football has raised its profile considerably.

"Bison football has raised its profile considerably"???????? Coming up live on Fox Sports 1 Kansas State versus North Dakota...

  8. North Dakota State was the name the announcers used. The audience was huge. Live with it.

the audience was huge??? let's get some facts here?? what is your definition of "huge"...if i remember correctly a und fan had to set a ndac fan straight about tv coverage last year when the FACTS were that tv rating for the worst bowl game was significantly higher than the the fcs championship game iirc yet according to all ndac fans the tv ratings were "HUGE"

  9. So we agree that Gene Taylor has done a great job with scheduling for Bison football. Seems that NDSU's profile has steadily gone up. That's his job, I think. For all of the Gene Taylor critics here, it can't be denied that he's done the job for NDSU. Think that's in his job description.

yeah all those great fbs wins over the last few years has really improved ndac's national prestige.....coming up on fox sports 1 "kansas state versus NORTH DAKOTA"...and ndac's championship banner being mailed to grand forks???

  10. Central won the MAC that year. It matters. We beat them badly. If not now, it certainly mattered at the time. Gene Taylor has done a masterful job of scheduling FBS games that are winnable. There are some elite programs that I doubt he'd try to schedule. Some of the earlier FBS games seemed insurmountable. Other FCS programs should be glad that the Bison have shown that the difference between a strong FCS program and a mid-level FBS program really isn't that much. It's good for the credibility of all FCS programs when it comes to recruiting.

"gene taylor has done a masterful job of scheduling fbs games that are winnable"--agreed...somehow he knows when certain fbs schools will suck from year to year...pure genius

"mid-level fbs program"--really??? you would call Ball State, Minnesota, Kansas, or CSU mid-level fbs programs??? really?

  11. 2007 was Central Michigan. They won the MAC and went to a bowl game. We beat them something like 44-7.

central, western, eastern??? who cares....dam near 50% of fbs schools go to bowls

  12. if edwards was almost "unblockable" last year in camp what has changed now that his redshirt year is over to keep him from starting???? i've never seen someone describe henson or stanchick as "unblockable" ever?

i'm not too worried about the offensive line and if the correct d-line guys play i'm not too worried about them either...

  13. I'd say SDSUs best passing weapon is their TE. He's big and very athletic. He's the kind of TE we need.

the te position at und for the past few years has been nonexistent...??? seth nichols the last couple of years was 6'5 with nice hands and decent feet and he maybe caught ten passes in two years????

  14. we need to have 12k or more people there making noise on each and every play.... the crowd needs to able to force a couple of false starts on 3rd and 3 to make it 3rd and 8 and then 3rd and 13....

  15. Yep, his name was included as well. LBs will see plenty of action this week.

Edit: I re-read the tweet. Said Mussman expects most back. Listed Ratelle, Walker, Jackson, Kuska and Labat. We will need all hands on deck this week. Depth isn't there at some positions.

I just hope that its not one of those lingering ankle injuries that he can play through but it limits his effectiveness while on the field...kind of like golladay last year....i was expecting big big things from ratelle this year...

  16. Tom Miller just tweeted that Muss expects everyone back for the weekend. Getting Walker back on the O-line and Jackson back in the WR rotation will be big. Also, looking forward to seeing Kuska in the secondary.

    ratelle?

  17. What game were you watching? There were a total of three turnovers in the game. The Bison picked off K-State in the 2nd Q. The resulting drive was the one with the dropped pass in the endzone and the missed field goal. Zero Bison points off the INT. The second turnover was when Brock was picked off near the beginning of the 2nd half. That lead to a K-State touchdown to put them up 14-7. The final turnover of the night was the last offensive K-State play of the game with less than 30 seconds on the clock and no time outs.

If you take away the turnovers, it's just as likely the Bison win by 10 instead of 3.

Oh, and no way the Bison compete in the SEC. Worst matchup with the Bison of all the FBS conferences. I will say this, with the exception of the elite teams like Oregon, Ohio State, and the top end of the SEC, these Bison could make a single game against any FBS team. As far as competing in conference play, of course the Bison wouldn't fair well. That scholarship differential of 22 would rear its ugly head long before the end of the season. But take the existing Bison program and give us the 22 scholarships to fill out our depth. No major changes to the coaching staff or starters(give us an extra position coach because I think FBS is allowed one more than FCS), but let us improve our second and third strings. I think that Bison team could compete* in all FBS conferences except the SEC and wouldn't be the worst team in that conference.

*by compete, I mean not bottom quarter; top third of non-BCS conferences, middle-pack to slightly below most BCS, right around the bottom third mark of B1G, maybe Big12.

holy crap...if if and buts were candy and nuts it would be christmas all the time!!!! get real

  18. And you're basing that assessment on what?

past history says that if ndac beats a fbs team that said school will be a very very bad team...its like death and taxes

    2006 Ball State (5-7)

    2007 Western Michigan (8-6)

    2007 Minnesota (1-11)

    2010 Kansas (3-9)

    2011 Minnesota (3-9)

    2012 Colorado State (4-8)

    2013 Kansas State (4-8 or 3-9)???

  19. everyone needs to just calm down about this win against the ksac...last year the the ndac were puffing their chests out about beating colorado state....csu went on to win 4 games against the four of the worst fbs schools in the country last year (colorado 1-11, Hawaii 3-9, UNLV 2-11, and New Mexico 4-9)

i know the ksac is the reigning big 12 champ but reigning also means last YEAR!
