As the the only team to win their conference regular season and playoff titles, in the toughest league in college hockey, I think UND is the #1 overrall. Quinnipiac can claim both titles too, but in a less tough ECAC.

IMO... Teams that are in without a doubt: UND, Minny, Mankato, BC, SCSU, WI, UMass, Quinnipiac, MI, UMD, BU Teams that are in at the moment (should be a little nervous): AIC, Omaha, Providence, Bemidji, LSSU Teams that have to win their tourneys to be in (still alive): Lowell, Colgate, St Lawrence, Niagara, Northern Michigan, Army, Canisius Teams just on the outside looking in (need a miracle of somekind): Bowling Green, DU, Notre Dame

With Lowell playing for an auto bid, the loser of LSSU and Bemidji could be in a tough spot.

I've got the same field. My logic was running through the poll, the PWR (weak this year w/o interconference play but decent for comparing intraconference contenders), and RPI (also weak w/o interconference play also decent for comparing intraconference contenders). I've given extra credit to the Big 10, Hockey East, and the NCHC. I'm also assuming the favorites still playing are going to win, so no big surprises...although Lowell and BC are in OT right now... 12 teams are in the top 16 in the polls, pwr, and RPI: UND, BC, Mankato, Minny, AIC, Quinnipiac, Bemidji, BU, Wisconsin, UMass, SCSU, and Bowling Green. Teams that appear in the top 16 in one or two: LSSU, Army, Clarkson, Omaha, Providence, Clarkson, Canisius, UMD, MI. Strength of conference advances Omaha, Providence, UMD, and Michigan over the other bubble teams. Weakness of conference dings Army, Clarkson, and Canisius. LSSU was sitting one behind Bowling Green in the polls, was ahead of them on PWR and RPI- considering they are in the same conference and LSSU is still playing, I think LSSU is the last team in and they bounce Bowling Green who is the first team out. You could really make a case for DU who is sitting 21st, but they are what their record shows, not how close they were to being a tourney team. Omaha is also sneaking in, and a case could be made for Bowling Green over Omaha. So I'm going with: 1 seeds: BC, UND, Minny, and Mankato 2 seeds: UMass, WI, SCSU, Quinnipiac 3 seeds: Michigan, AIC, UMD, and BU 4 seeds: Bemidji State, Providence, Omaha, and LSSU The result of this is 4 Hockey East, 4 NCHC, 3 Big 10, 3 WCHA, 1 ECAC and 1 Atlantic

Minny and NoDak still the anomaly on age requirements for hockey. Rest of the world runs strict birth year. I totally get why- to keep kids playing with their schoolmates.

CA has 3 sanctioned AAA hockey teams (Jr Kings, Jr Ducks, Jr Sharks) per birth year PeeWee through Midget..that’s 3...in a population of 40M people...or 3 in a population bigger than the country of Canada. Of course the population that loves hockey is probably 10%, whereas in Canada it’s probably 70%. T1EHL AAA is different than spring/summer AAA. I agree with the posters saying most of those are pure ego plays and cash sucks. “select” “elite” “AAA” all way over-used and over-sold terms. The other danger is that when parents shell out big $, they expect W’s. So winning becomes prioritized over development.

I’ll attest to that! even if you test positive don’t let the media fear mongering get you. Media based fear was way worse for me than the disease itself. Hang tough!

That balancing act kept me up many nights when I was coaching my son in Mites. I was terrified of hurting his love for the game. Life became much easier when I released him to the game and professional coaches. Now I just play with him in garage or on occasion on the ice for fun. The thing is the game is a lot more fun when you are good at it, so you gotta develop and you gotta learn while still keeping it fun. That’s the balance. It’s also important to have perspective- just because you want Junior to play at a high level doesn’t mean they want to or are physically capable. I see it with some teammates of my son- we play AAA hockey and the funnel just keeps getting narrower. Some kids love hockey and work hard at it, but just don’t have the tools to stay at the top, and that is perfectly okay, but the parents are obsessed and worried.

I wouldn’t do it unless it was egregious. You can do whatever you want. I have an inordinate amount of power in my professional life, so I yield power very delicately.

It is definitely the parents. I’ve encountered truly dirty teams at 10U AAA where kids are literally trying to hurt other players. Kicking guys when down, spearing, cross checks to back of neck below the helmet. It’s awful. there are people out there that believe it’s assault on skates rather than hockey. I have no problem with some good, hard-nosed physical play; but intent to hurt is learned and wrong. I’ve lost my cool a few times as papa bear when I’ve watched teams and players intentionally target and try hurt skill players.

Get out and see Pinto...he’s going to be in the National next year. He is the most NHL ready player in college hockey right now. He could seriously play for Ottawa right now.

omaha is very average...we allowed them to take us off our game. I see it in youth hockey when particular teams give great teams fits and force them to degenerate off their game. We didn't play the way we can. Omaha capitalized on its opportunities. I'll give them that. Not impressed by them at all though.

Officiating is awful. I’m sorry- these clowns need to go. I’m ready to donate to someone’s favorite charity so these guys never ref another NCHC game.

The NCAA has determined that scotch and cigars represent oppressive patriarchy thus must be banned. So will the use of binary pronouns. As Math and Statistics are also inherently racist, no quantifiable metrics shall be used in determining the field. Also the committee shall not consist of college hockey experts, coaches or ADs; that would not achieve the desired diversity and would be a threat to democracy. It has thus been decided that a popular vote in the states of NY, CA, TX, FL, PA, and Ohio shall determine the field.
