  1. Yes- I mean it can change with surprises, but all conventional thought is yes
  2. I get what you are saying, but to me you gotta work and have a job and earn it for it to be the American Dream.
  3. Less than 3 hours until first polls close
  4. One political dumpster fire is enough
  5. The American Dream does not require government involvement.
  6. I’d say that library is a “mixed book”...pun intended
  7. I “came out” in private to a number of friends. Many that I presumed were lefties were also closeted righties...
  8. There are many of us voting Trump that dislike the man, but despise the philosophy of the left more
  9. Damn- my post was too late. I agree with the choice being a flawed candidate or a candidate with flawed ideas
  10. 100% on the latter! Anybody who runs has to be insane or just sociopathic
  11. I agree that law80 is an upstanding member with a viewpoint to be considered and respected.
  12. And the politburo thinks the answer is more spending and more taxes...it won’t be long until CA is nothing but millionaires and the people who serve them. The whole of people making $50k-$500k will leave. It’ll be feudal.
  13. I’d say middle class in LA... like can own a home you aren’t ashamed of, Can save for retirement, aren’t reliant on credit card debt, can go out to dinner on occasion, own reliable cars, go on an annual vacation, have a little around for an emergency...family of 4....need a household income of ~$250k minimum
  14. You don’t eat all of it- but yeah...I live in a nice home, but nothing extravagant. No view. No pool. $12k in property taxes, $50k in mortgage interest annually.
  15. Remember that the most liberal State in the Country has high taxes, garbage schools, pathetic infrastructure and in some parts (SF) you are in poverty with a six figure income. If CA did not have the physical beauty, climate, and resources it has, nobody would live here.
  16. It’s more of the mortgage interest deduction in CA for me. Property values are very high. I took a hit. I will take a bigger hit under Biden, but that’s first world problems. I was okay paying more personally with cuts for the general population.
  17. It’s an interesting postulate to consider Lincoln not as the preserver of the Union and great emancipator, but rather as the man that put the federal government ahead of State government by force and began the concept which would ultimately enslave the working population with the yoke of 1/4-1/3 of their income being taken. There is no incorrect answer here, and it is questions like this that our high school and college students should have to think about and articulate a logical comprehension and resultant position. Instead they’d be met with a scream...
  18. I have not seen those specific details described either. I have seen and know that the plan is to revert taxes back to prior higher levels on everyone, And disproportionately hammer people earning more than $400k. It’s a government redistribution mentality. always remember that federal income taxes are not part of the founding documents, but were initially a war levy put into place by Lincoln, repealed during reconstruction, then made permanent a little over 100 years ago.
  19. Imagine Adams, Jefferson and Franklin Advocating for hiding and shutting down for fear of small pox virus.
  20. The most interesting thing to me is that the attacks on Trump are almost exclusively on the man rather than on the policies he supports and executed. It’s the dumbing down and sound byte cycle. Easier to like or dislike a human than to study policy. So little on the Platinum plan, so little on mid_east peace, so little on bringing the troops home...economy now ignored due to Covid. the biggest black eye from public perception was the child separations at the border, which by the way, Trump pivoted on after he saw the impact, which is actually the act of a good leader. Create a policy with good intention, then if you see negative consequences, pivot. regarding Covid, it’s really unrealistic to expect the POTUS to contain a virus outbreak in a free society. Viruses do not understand executive orders nor do they recognize lines drawn on maps. It’s really quite ridiculous.
  21. Hopefully Rizzo gets healthy and can be a great add for another school. Kid got bitten by the injury bug at the wrong time. He was a big deal on Hockey Canada’s radar before the injuries.
  22. Only two people liked the Declaration of Independence. Not looking for likes, but if (and I believe this is true) we cannot reach common ground on the Declaration, then we have moved to an irreconcilable point, and an eerily similar document needs to be drafted in 2021...
  23. Reading comprehension clearly not his strong suit
  24. CA will never be “in play” but anecdotally I’m very interested in the final results. There is a lot of Pro Trump in SoCal.
