I too have high hopes for Cichy. I like the idea of a 3rd scoring line consisting of Nelson, Cichy and Kristo...that could be a sick line... Malone with Frattin and Trupp Knight with Gregoire and Hextall Nelson with Cichy and Kristo Lammy and a couple energy boys to keep up the tempo You can't match up with all three lines...other team's 5th and 6th defensemen will have to go head to head with one of these lines on a regular basis, I like our odds in that scenario
-
Forbert looked great against Manitoba. He needs to keep it up, but he earned a start with me based on performance. Interesting how Cichy got so many pp reps vs the Bisens What do you think the special teams units will look like? We're so deep we could essentially run all 3 scoring lines on the powerplay...
-
I put Simpson out there to get some reps in a non-conference, conference game. Simpson is going to get playing time, and the UAA game carries far less PWR ramifications than the UA game.
-
The Alaska game has CCHA pwr implications; for that reason I tried to load up night 2. I did really like what i saw with Knight, Gregoire and Hextall as a line combo. Imagine a scoring line 3 with Nelson and Kristo on it. That is serious talent deep into the lineup. Frattin, Gregoire and Kristo on 3 different lines...that could spell 20 goal men on each scoring line.

It is now up to the official's discretion (linesman) to waive off icing. This is sort of a highbred to touch up icing, in that they are able to waive it off if there is a good chance that the icing team has a chance at playing the puck.

I see. We are thinking about different parts of the argument. I thought you were talking about it only applying in terms of the government. I agree that SS.com could remove someone and not technically violate their rights due to this being an owned medium. No one can stop him from pounding away on his keyboard, but the owners don't have to let it make it to the board. I would just hate to do it out of principle. I like letting people speak their mind.

You are incorrect, there have been many Supreme Court Cases that have ironed out where and when free speech ends, and they do include the government (sedition is not protected) but also they go well beyond the government and include such things as community standards for vulgarity and obscenity as well as statements designed explicitly to cause injury (yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre). Opinion statements are not covered, and many a$$holes have taken advantage of it: KKK gathering at an MLK day parade for example. The example you give would be protected aside from your PA statement. If you are using someone else's PA, you are trespassing and using someone else's property. I could go in a grocery store and say anything I want in terms of an opinion and I would be protected.

As much as I'd love to not ever read a MPLSBISON post again, I love free speech more...I will not support a ban of someone due to their opinion. Ignoring him or avoiding threads where he dwells is the best route. He's like a lone skinhead at an NAACP event...his logic is corrupt, his intentions are suspect, his venue is that of certain confrontation, but he's got the right to speak. Gotta keep the slope from getting slippery.

tough for Big Joe. Not many first rounders in the ECHL right out of school.

I crashed 3 different PS3s in December/January of last year playing NHL 2010. I will never buy another one. The longest one lasted was two weeks. I also didn't like in be a pro, when i went #1 overrall in the draft, then lead the NHL in scoring notching 2.5 points per game for 8 games and they sent me down..junk

3 tenets of persuasion: ethos, logos, and pathos. Frustration ensues when an argument based on one of those tenets is countered using another. My goal would be to have a highly (UND-hopefully)educated member of the Sioux nation make an empassioned speech about the continued erasure of the native american; his land, his culture, and now even his image and memory. Embed within the context indisputable facts, and you should be able to convince an open-minded, intelligent person. As always, some people have opinions that can not be changed in the face of passion and/or fact. These people live sorry, closed minded lives. The rest of us can make up our minds based on truth and integrity.

It is amazing that we melted down with the DOT line considering how unbelievably clutch JT and TJ are. They are even proving it at the highest level, especially JT...how they didn't get it done still shocks me.

McCleod's mantra of Parity over purity, that's my line : ) Points for success: 1. Speed kills. We need to be able to outskate our opponents. All of them. 2. Go to the net. 3. Establish a physical presence. 4. Win the individual foot races, slot battles, and corner battles. Getting beaten individually results in getting beaten collectively. Our championship hopes ride on our dmen and fourth line. I have confidence in our top 6 forwards and our energy line lead by super Mario and Hexy upfront. I think BE is solid. If we can get dominant play from our dmen both in our own zone and chipping in offensively, I feel good. Throw is some insults with fourth line relief and goal scoring and I feel really good. Championships are not born of one dominant line.

Seriously. How many gold medals and international AAA tournament MVPs does it take to be a top 10 draft pick? So he's five foot ten, it isn't like he's five foot six. Beyond Zach, however, it is interesting to think about how much the grind of western hockey: number of games, type of play wears guys down. When we played Yale, I believe that not only had they been off for two weeks, but also they had played ten less games. Does the physicality and obstruction, while reducing the speed and skill level of the game, actually speed up pro development? An 82 game season is a grind...
-
Jonny Toews was scoring 20 goals in the WCHA when he was 17. Just being a smart a$$. I'm sure St Clair is a good player.
-
So Zach's draft stock fell due to obstruction in the WCHA...big surprise as he was mugged constantly. Our league has been butchered of late in the NCAAs, and in part, I have to believe the course of the season is driving that. Look at what many WCHA skill guys are doing in the NHL, and then question why we aren't winning titles and dominating the leader board in scoring. Clearly Parise, Zajac and Toews are among the 50 best players in the world. The WCHA has to look at what is happening.

I hope Fighting Sioux fans don't give up

The ability to have dialogue around disparite positions is what this country is founded on. I think the fear of the slippery slope is behind some of the sentiment. Anytime where there is debate there is bound to be a majority and a minority; whether it be about the nickname, health care, speech, religion, guns, you name it. This forum is all about the ability to speak freely and express opinions whether approved by the masses or a dissenting, minority opinion. It is not a political forum, but we are in a gray area when it comes to the nickname. The greatness of our fanbase will be measured by the manner in which we dissent and voice our opinions, not whether or not we are in the majority or minority. No one is trampling on the constitution here. I am a nickname supporter. My opinion is that the nickname was a revered testament to a culture that is all but forgotten by most of the United States. I will never be able to convince certain people of that. I accept that my opinion is able to be expressed and that my opinion may or may not make a difference in the ultimate decision. I take pride in trying to express it with a degree of education, decorum, and conviction that I know some lack. The decision on the name is beyond my control. How long I dissent, and the degree to which I voice my opinion might fade with time. I trust that my freedom to do so never will. Long live liberty and long live the Fighting Sioux in name and spirit. -
6'5 at 14?! If that kid can skate he has big-time prospect written all over him.

Hang in there Coach Nacko; all RR alum are pulling for you to win this one in OT

Player X's Gold medal probably feels alot better than a Selke Trophy. I do think that he is easily the best two-way center in the game right now.

True. However, we are (at least temporarily) still the most powerful country on earth both economically and militarily. American Arrogance as the rest of the world labels it is in many ways a compliment. If we weren't as successful as we are it would be labeled as confidence.

I still like Robber Barons even though it has little to do with ND. Pony Express Buckin Broncos Wild Weasels Praire Kings Norse Men Probably not PC given the circumstances but...Gattling Guns

I happen to know a person who shall remain nameless who: 1. Is a helluva great guy 2. Was a great high school hockey player at one time 3. Who Sioux pride and support runs DEEP in his family 4. Who has become an extremely successful business man in GF Who I bet has both the wallet and brains to run a Major Junior team I won't talk about this individual beyond this post, as I have the utmost respect for him, and will not divulge his name period, BUT the gist of this post is simply that there are possibilities...
