  1. Yes, a little girl is on the way in June! Gotta keep producing Sioux fans! Target Center will still be fun...closer to my house too
  2. bummed i missed you at the Five this year! not the same...we didn't stick around after the boys got beaten
  3. Congrats and best luck in retirement! Perhaps with 40 years in, you might've even been my teacher somewhere along the line. Noble profession! I thank all of my teachers for setting me up to succeed in undergrad, business school, professional life, and personal life #fuller richer life thanks to teachers
  4. What's the formula though? I mean Nick Jensen is certainly not the 94th best (best d man in college hockey this year IMO), and Bjugstad is going to play in the NHL next week and he is on the second tier of the list. If you look at the rankings for NHLers, it would appear that the formula is somehow based upon goals/game, assists/game, plus-minus/game...if it is purely a statistical indicator, then that leaves a lot of pretty important hockey stuff out...
  5. Gwoz in Maine...hmmmm...
  6. Who do they have him skating with?
  7. Good for Derek...knew there was no way he was coming back...with his draft status, I'm sure he got a nice deal.

    Rocco

Have to...we're going to need our highly skilled freshies to come in and be impact players. My thought was originally about Rocco, and I liked the way he played with Drake. Then, based on Tambellini's purported skill and stats and likley draft position, I put him up there. From there it sorta lead off topic and into lines for next year. I love the idea of Parks-St. Clair- Chyzyk...I think that would be a tough line to play against and could also score some goals. who knows...
  9. Between the two of those guys thats about 45 years in the show isn't it...

  12. You've got many different kinds of practices, and many different focuses within each practice. No pucks usually meant bad news...conditioning and contact drills pucks generally mean breakouts, odd-mans, and special teams guys will work on individual skills outside of practice
  13. Nice contract for Big MAC TRUCK...clearly the Leafs liked his physicality alot more than the WCHA referees.
  14. I know it doesn't work that way now...you can definitely take classes while playing junior
  15. sarcasm on Easy Mac fellas...sarcasm...
  16. So hard to tell what some of the boys are like in practice and in the locker room. I'm betting on Simpson as captain with Pattyn and Mark Mac the As. Assuming Forbert is gone
  17. Saw Budish's deal on cap geek...pretty poor all things considered. Among the lowest of early signees...
  18. I was just perusing the success of college hockey programs over the last 17 years...I would like everyone to be clear on the following facts: 1. Nobody has won more league regular season titles in any league than UND (tied with Michigan) 2. Only Michigan and BC have won more league playoff titles than UND 3. Nobody has more NCAA tourney appearances (tied with Michigan) 4. Only BC has more Frozen Four appearances 5. Only BC has more NCAA titles Now you might say it is convenient to look at the last 17 years. I am starting from that point based on the turnaround of the program following that rough patch. So, sure, you can say that BC had the best last 17 years, but an objective person would say the top 3 performers are BC, Michigan, and UND. Minnesota, Denver, BU. Michigan State right behind. New Hampshire with everything but the NCAA.
  19. The 79-82 teams were a force... The 83-84 team lost a heartbreaker to UMD in the NCAAs... Obviously 86-87 was amazing... The 89-90 team won 28 games and went to the NCAAs... The early 90's teams underwhelmed, then Blais got us to mediocrity his first couple years, then to the pinnacle If you exclude the first two years of Blaiser's tenure as turnaround, he then went on to achieve 7 trips to the NCAAs in 8 years, 5 MacNaughtons, 2 Broadmoors, and 2 NCAAs, 3 trips to the frozen four You can't give Dave any slack for having to turn around a program, so if you count all of his years, he went to the NCAAs 9 out of 9, 2 MAcNaughtons, 4 Broadmoors, and 0 NCAAs, 5 trips to Frozen Four Combined, that is, in 17 years, 7 League titles, 6 league playoff titles, and 2 National Titles, and 8 trips to the frozen four along with 16 trips to the NCAAs...pretty impressive.
  20. 3 years for an NHL #1 is great for us!! It is rare that those guys stay four unless they were "project" picks.
  21. How many members of a gold medal winning WJC team are in the East Coast league?? To me, the WJC has always been the proving ground. I did not see a single comment related to my listing of Sioux players, performance, draft status and league. I don't see anyone saying that Danny is going to the show where he'll be an immediate impact player ala Toews, Parise or even Oshie or Stafford or Zajac. I think Danny could become a nice second line winger and be a 15 goal a year guy. fifteen years ago, I would say he would struggle based on size and the type of game played...today's NHL is much more suited to Danny's game. Mario Lamoureaux was second in ECHL ROY voting, and is a scorer in that league...Danny brings WAY more offense than Mario. If Danny played in the ECHL he would score 120 points a year.
  22. I would imagine that the Kings are underwhelmed by his development and will actively seek to sign him and send him to the AHL. Not a knock on him or our program, but he did not play like a third year first round draft pick... For all of those "it takes dmen longer to develop" I agree in theory, but Matt Greene, Keith Ballard, Erik Johnson, Jack Johnson, Brooks Orpik all went early...so did Paul Martin (a second rounder)...Jacob Trouba was a one and done...and all were playing at a much higher level than Derek...In order to maximize their significant investment (a first round pick) I believe LA will push to have Forbert in the AHL. They will give him a max NHL deal, knowing full well that he is likely to be paid only his signing bonus and AHL salary for the next two years. Not trying to be a hater, just calling it like I see it.
  23. Pony dropped the gloves tonight in the show...
  24. There are more high end skaters playing college hockey now than there were even 10 years ago, let alone 30 years ago. That is "spreading the wealth" among teams and creating parity.
  25. Even when Budish, Haula, and Bjugstad weren't scoring goals, they were dominating forecheckers that few teams could match in terms of strength down low...that is tough to replace. I remember thinking that on our team, only Mac was physically strong enough to man up against them, and even then if he didn't have position he struggled, and Mac was one big, strong customer. Other D men had no chance...Gleason, Mattson, Schmaltz all looked like children against them on the boards, and Simpson and Forbert were just hanging on for dear life.
