  1. Ok, just as long as you know that the Ralph is not the best venue for ice hockey.
  2. Best venue in the country? LOL! You need only to go to the cities to find the Target Center and the Xcel Center, both of which are better/bigger than the Ralph. Nice try.
  3. Hockey already is D1...I don't understand your point. Football will have to have an amazing influx of revenue in order for you to add 27 scholorships.
  4. Hockey is holding UND back from going D1. It will continue to do so until the NCAA reformats.
  5. I think Winona was their flag ship..
  6. Tommy Ray 12 Minneapolis North 49.25 That was last year's state runner-up I believe. Must be a weak year in the 400 for the state.
  7. He's actually around 5'7" and has been listed as tall as 5'9".
  8. I don't suppose the fact that's he's what, 4'2" and 107 pounds has anything to do with the fact that the 30 mph gusts are probably lifting him off the track and throwing him all the way down to the finish line.
  9. This is big talk for a team that lost in Brookings last year...except you hit a 1 in 1000 2 point conversion pass.
  10. That's weird coming from someone living in a town half the population of Fargo but with twice the percentage of redneck hicks. Fargo is a growing metropolitan area with a metro population expected to be around 300000 in 45 years. We're just like a little Minneapolis or Chicago.
  11. Isn't Gonzaga a verb? As far as recruiting top notch players to North Dakota goes...first of all...there ARE D1 caliber players from ND. C Rob Hunt for NDSU could easily start at UMN over Greg Esslinger....who is from Bismark. Secondly, a 3 hour drive away you have 2.5 million people in the cities area. Bound to be some good athletes there. Then you have Omaha, Des Moines, Milwaukee, Chicago, etc plus athletes from small schools in other states. There is TONS of talent waiting to be had for D1 schools in ND. Also, look at the football team. THREE players from MISSISSIPPI!!!!! There are countless colleges, many of which are larger than NDSU, between Fargo and the Gulf Coast. How could it be possible that we recruited them here? The same can happen for basketball.
  12. Perhaps UND will move up in 3 years or so.
  13. We'll melt it and reform it as the new traveling trophy between NDSU and SDSU...the REAL rivalry for the state of North Dakota.
  14. So? We wouldn't want a mis-trial would we? We'd make sure to get an impartial judge.
  15. Perhaps the idea was his, but the metal belongs to the Blue Key.
  16. Like I said before, I doubt it will come down to this. But, if the Blue Key wanted, all they'd have to do is take it to court and win the case. Then they would come, with a police escort, and take it.
  17. Sorry DaveK, the nickel only belongs to the Sioux in the context of the rivalry game. That game is no more so the nickel defaults back to the original owners: the Blue Key. Since the BK only exists at NDSU, they will decide what to do with it.
  18. Interesting, so you're confirming that a D1aa football school is, in fact, a D1 school. Thanks for clearing that up. However, what i meant to say was that ice hockey has 2 divisions: 1 where you can offer scholarships and 1 where you can't.
  19. Keep telling yourself that 1+1=2 if it makes you feel better. Oh wait...it's a fact, just like D1 having 3 subclassifications (1A for 85 full scholly football, 1AA for 65 scholly football, and 1AAA for no football). I'll be the first to agree that 1AA is not the highest competition level in D1 football. That's just what we were looking for. It should also show you something that the NCAA takes football so seriously that it would divid D1 in order to accommodate different athletic programs for their level of football. Not so with ice hockey (either you're a scholarship team D1 or a non-scholarship team D3).
  20. And UND isn't one of them. They are a D2 school who play in the scholorship-giving division of ice hockey.
  21. Aparantly NDSU was D1 in underwater basket-weaving all along. I guess we've been D1 this whole time!
