  1. It's no secret that UND proudly supports hate against homosexuals and other non-white people.
  2. Sorry, we live in reality. Fargo sports are the lead on Fargo TV.
  3. WDAY is the station that the Bison show was on. Seems like the natural choice for NDSU fans.
  4. Fargo TV *SHOULD* be pro-NDSU. Grand Forks TV *SHOULD* be pro-UND. Minneapolis TV *SHOULD* be pro-UMN. get the idea?...
  5. This has to be some sort of joke? Why WOULDN'T a **FARGO TV STATION** be pro-NDSU?! I suppose you expect WCCO to start airing specials on the glory of UND hockey? LOL!
  6. I'm simply arguing the POV of the big schools. They want to seperate themselves from the small schools, period. The big schools are the ones that bring the fans, who pay to watch. So the big schools are the ones that earned the money. They want to keep it for themselves instead of sharing with little schools that don't deserve it. That's their bottem line.
  7. Why does it have to be small? That's just your opinion. Mine is that i want to see the big schools who deserve to be in the tournament compete. It would be just as easy to like a school like Nebraska, who doesn't have the traditional basketball success, come out of the early rounds and knock off a big timer like Kansas. THAT is a cinderella, my friend. Schools like Gonzaga are just distractions and take away from a tournament when a big school could have got in there and been more competitive.
  8. I actually thoguht it was title ix, but for some reason i convinced myself that 9 was xi. Sorry about that. Nonsense. For one thing, parents and alumni have no legal say in it whatsoever. For another thing, coaches saleries and player's scholorships are under contracts. As long as the school pays what is due for the length of the contract, they are not in any legal trouble by cutting the sport. If that student wants to play that sport they're going to ahve to transfer. I haven't seen any lawsuits by ex New Haven football people. OK fair enough. Also, please note that the 85 limitation only applies to NCAA D1A football. This new conference may not have those limitations. Men's basketball is obviously offset by having women's basketball, so that part is taken care of. As for football...here is a quick, possible breakdown: Football = 100 Off set this with the 5 most money producing women's sport (i'll just guess this is: vball, soccer, softball, tennis, golf) and give them 20 scholorships each. Title ix compliance complete. Perfectly possible scenario. And possibly the new association can lobby to keep itself from having to comply with title ix. This would be the best possible scenario. Then they could simply have football, basketball, and any other sport that made money.
  9. I am baffeled that the BCS schools simply don't take the tournament with them by taking all the good schools. If they formed their own association they would have all the big schools working for them. They could have their own billion dollar tournament, or even a bowl style postseason if they pleased. The only thing is would they take the good basketball schools who weren't as good at football or didn't have football (Providence for example). Honestly, now that i think about it, Providense and schools like these would be a perfect fit for this new association. They could cut their athletic departments down to only men's and women's basketball and make good money. If they would be subject to title ix, then they simply would have to find a couple sports to offset football. This could be volleyball, soccer, softball, or whatever, so long as the scholorships were the same. Also, some schools would obviously still want to compete in hockey and wrestling (since they can make money at them). They'll have to have even more sports for women then, so who knows.
  10. Or simply someone who signed up here as "SU WR 1AB"
  11. Not only that but i'm dumbfounded how people always say "what about the cinderella teams?"... yes..what about them? There are cinderella's within the BCS teams too. It doesn't have to be a small school. All you need is a team like Nebraska knocking off Kansas and you get a cinderella.
  12. Just like NDSU would never leave the NCC, huh? Why not simply bring march madness with them?! After all, they have most of the main march madness teams with them. I think the TV's would rather watch UGA vs. UFL than Gonzaga try to take on Southern IL.
  13. Even during the UND-NDSU "sellouts" @ the Alerous, i saw plenty of green in the stands...
  14. The NAIA and the NJCAA have nothing to do with the NCAA. They have completely different rules. In fact, i'm not even sure if title-xi affects them. In this same manner, i see another new association of top NCAA institutions called the BCS (after the football ranking system) or whatever name they felt was suitable. If this association wasn't affacted by title-xi it would be all the better for them. No longer would they have to keep money losing sports simply because they're required to by the NCAA. No longer would they have to limit scholorships or not be able to offer a kid because he didn't qualify in the clearinghouse. They could run it strictly like a business, which i see as their main goal. I definately see them adopting a NDSCS style of athletic departments with only the main (money making sports) offered. With the teams left, the NCAA will have to reclassify since most of the D1A schools will probably leave for this new association. I suppose i see the need for different levels of scholorship max levels...but i don't like how schools can have any number lower than this maximum number. I feel there should be a minimum as well. So (for example in football) D1 should be max 85 min 65, D2 max 45 min 30, D3 no scholorship. IMO, if you can't fund 30 scholorships for football then what's the point of offering any? But it probably won't be like that. The stupid NCAA will continue to do things the way they want.
  15. I think the NCAA is headed for MAJOR reclassification after the BCS schools split away and form their own association ala the NAIA. I forsee all sports going to a 2 division system. Either you're scholorship or non-scholorship.
  16. It's simply a matter of persepective on what was the original cause of the rivalry ending. Was it: 1) NDSU leaving or 2)UND not signing. The immediate cause was UND not signing, but they have an equally good case for not signing because it will hurt their play off chances. However i don't buy all the uneven playing field crap when UND almost lost to Winonna State (who has 16) and when NDSU beat Montana (who has 63).
  17. You're definately right that most people west of the RR valley don't care or even have anything to do with NDSU.
  18. NBC has the AFL now. Indoor football, the way football is supposed to be. I could see this league making it big time!
  19. The dome authority (more like the dome power trippers) insists on using public money for a public facility. As for the BSA...i doubt even the great UND could fundraise $15 million in under a 100 years.
  20. Actually the dome keeps insisting on paying because they don't want a "public" facility to have any part of it privately owned. Government is the anti-christ. I hope they all burn in hell.
  21. Government....ha! The day the government burns to the ground will be the best day in history.
  22. I really have nothing against the idea of hockey as a game. 6 players on the field per team, 2 goals, one object that you try to get inside the goals for a goal, and the object must travel along the ground and be pushed along with sticks by the players. This game was around LONG before some moron stuck some knives on his shoes and started playing on a frozen lake (probably fell through the ice and drowned too). Floor hockey or field hockey is a great game. Ice hockey is for morons. That is my opinion of figure skating (the sport you call "ice hockey").
