That's fine. The rivalry is going to be over for a long time. Perhaps someday the NCAA will reorganize itself and UND and NDSU will be in the same division again by default. Like i said, most people in the state of ND have forgotten about the nickel and are very excited to see it's D1 school take on the rest of the D1 nation.

What it "really" means is subjective. The law isn't. The lawful owners of the nickel are the Blue Key and they can do with it as they please. However, I really doubt it would come down to a court case. If it did, UND would lose.

I'm simply saying that the only reason UND wouldn't go along with a charity is because NDSU is the one trying to initiate it.

If there were only 60 football teams then NDSU would have made the national semi's too! Like i've said a number of times before, NDSU is moving up because we're upgrading our whole university. More research dollars, more majors, higher competition for athletics, etc. I'm not ashamed to say that UND is at that same level and yet is going to be left at the wayside as one of those D2 public schools in in the upper midwest (you know, Moorhead State, MN-Crookston, etc) because they can't afford it/are too scared to put the comittment forth.

So you're saying you have enough money to go D1aa but simply choose to ignore your alumni and student body who want to go D1aa? No, that is illogical. You can't afford it because of hockey. Nothing wrong with that, i mean, look how well your hockey team did this year to show for it. Oh yeah...

UND can't go D1aa, they don't have enough money. The only reason anyone would want to get the nickel back to NDSU is because the lawful owner of the nickel is the Blue Key...which only exists at NDSU now.

As long as things are the way they are now, NDSU and UND will not play. UND won't be moving to D1 because hockey is too expensive. They won't play a D1 team in football because it messes up their chances at the post season. NDSU isn't going to move back down to D2. So it's going to take a reclassification of at least the D2 playoff system but, more likely, the whole structure of college football. Probably when the BCS schools split away and form their own association it will shake the NCAA up enough. Until then...

NDSU and UND are probably never going to play again. Melt it down.

The NDSU athletic department has nothing to do with "trying to get the nickel back". The rightful owners of the nickel, the Blue Key Honor Society, are simply proposing (in the spirit of competition) that the winner of an annual fundraising competition receive the trophy. To be honest, it was a tough blow for NDSU fans to lose to UND for the last time. Is that what you wanted to hear?

If we're NFL Europe then UND is in the Canadian League.

According to that logic, UA Fairbanks is a championship D1 school too! They're national champions is riflery. NDSU won't ever be hanging a D1 football banner because there is no D1 football. There is, however, D1A and D1AA.

I wasn't pointing out anything that hadn't been pointed out before. Football and men's basketball are the only sports the NCAA cares about and UND won the final meeting in both of those (Although the season basketball total was 1-1).

UND won in the only 2 sports that anyone cares about: football and men's basketball.

That quote has been taken completely out of context by the administrator. It was supposed to go in the football forum in a thread where a sioux fan was posting a bunch of mock headlines that he thought the newspapers would print when NDSU wins the GWFC conference title. So i gave him a headline of my own. However, this was without the knowledge that UMN lost to UMN-Duluth. And for the record, no, i am not an ice hockey fan. However, the overall game of hockey is very sound and is very popular in slightly modified versions around the world (eg lacrosse, soccer).

Do you know what the word foreign means? Indians are a minority yes...but they were always here. Asians, Africans, and Latins are the real minorities that i was referring to.
