  1. Statistics?! What kind of useless garbage is that? Why don't you go try and fit a line to a scatter plot?
  2. I just speak my mind and what I think is true. That hardly means I'm always right, of course.
  3. I wouldn't take Carrol's win so lightly. They were NAIA DI national champions last year. They give out scholarships.
  4. ND-Toledo would be just about right. ND is going to turn into another Northwestern if they still have such high admission requirements. The crowd @ UMN-UT was good for the U. Probably around 30000 and plenty of students.
  5. You have to remember that football is everything for us. A 2-8 2002 season = football staff's heads rolling. There is no way we get Bohl and co. w/o going DI in a year. I don't think Bohl would've waited around for 5 years, he wanted to be DI this year. We had the money in place and we found someone relatively close to go with us, so we said lets go for it.
  6. Because we want UND to move with us to the Big Sky (at least, some do). We miss the rivalry mostly but the money was always good too. I'm sure you've seen the movie Grumpy Old Men. We love to hate each other.
  7. I think you very well could be right. Also remember the SD board of regents tried to shut them down. After seeing UNC's stadium this weekend and knowing that in their 2nd DI season that they only have 41 schs., the BSC might not accept them either!
  8. I sorta think you're right...but... we wouldn't have gotten the new coaching staff or any of the other improvements if we didn't go DI now. So I think we choose the correct time.
  9. I guess we'll see. The real problem, IMO, is the CSUS and PSU. I think the sky made a mistake w/ those two schools that they want to correct. So I think in a few years CSUS and PSU will be gone with NDSU, SDSU, UND, and UNC being added. One curious thing, would SDSU being accepted do anything for USD? IMO USD is nowhere even close to being in the position UND is in to move up at any time. Also sucks for SUU, but that's life. They'll be fine in the Great West/Mid Con.
  10. I think simply being accepted into the Big Sky this spring will propel the move ASAP.
  11. How about simply sticking to the numbers? Toledo's rank + Minnesota's rank = 37 or 18.5avg. The actual difference is only 3. Michigan's rank + Notre Dame's rank = 44 or 22avg. The actual difference is 28. UMN/UT might actually be a fun game to watch while Michigan will pound Notre Dame like nail.
  12. I guess Notre Dame can't win anymore because "they can't recruit the black athlete" with such high academic requirements. That's fine, maybe the Big East will pick them up in football when their TV contract runs out with ABC. We all know Michigan/Notre Dame is way bigger than all but a handful of games. I would never compare the experience of such an event to UMN/Toledo, but as far as actual football talent on the field is concerned, UMN/UT is the better game.
  13. Toledo is (or at least was) top 25 pre season, genius. Colorado State will be top 25 when the gophs play them. That's possibly better than but at least as good as Miami OH, who are better than another horrible Notre Dame team again this year, and San Diego State who almost upset "the" overrated Ohio State bucks. EDIT - Ok I actually checked the polls to confirm my speculations. The CBS Sportsline poll has the following: Michigan #8 Toledo # 17 Minnesota # 20 Notre dame # 36 San Diego State # 37 Miami OH # 45 Colorado State # 58 So the average rank for Minnesota and Michigans best 2 NC opps. is 37.5 and 36.5 respectively. WOW, a whole point. We'll see how that changes when the Gophs win by 3 TD's tomorrow.
  14. It's pretty clear that men's hockey pays the bills @ UND with Football and Women's BBall helping out a little.
  15. Why the hell do you guys keep thinking you need an indoor practice facility? Only a dozen or so BCS schools even have those. You have the Alerus, use it.
  16. Until UMD is up by 21 and throws a hail marry to win by 28 with less than a min left.
  17. They play Toledo on Saturday, a top 25 team and Colorado State in a couple weeks, another team that might be top 25 by the time they play them.
  18. Gophs = 2004 Big 10 champs and NDSU opponent in 2005.
  19. The obvious reason is NDSU's key sport is football while UND's is hockey. UND is one of maybe a dozen schools in the US in which hockey is the highest revenue producing sport.
  20. To be completely honest, as a football fan, I really don't care that much about SDSU. They suck at football and have shown little interest in improving. Maybe all that will change this season. I hope so. But as far as getting into the Big Sky and football is concerned, I'd take UND any day over SDSU. Last thing, we don't need UND to go DI, obviously, since we've already made the jump without you. However, for the sake of revenues and rivalries, I hope UND moves ASAP!!!
  21. Or they could simple sue (no pun) the conference for BS rules. I think we can get into the BSC on our own, but I'd rather get in w/ UND than SDSU.
