  1. Ever since Berry & Co. stopped recruiting high-end players from the twin cities area adult broom ball leagues, this team just hasn’t been the same.
  2. Minnesota swept Notre Dame so that probably didn’t help us.
  3. I should’ve clarified that my commentary was directed at the relative silence to Bast’s hit. There appears to be far more outrage on this game thread over Wilkie’s cele than over Bast’s high hit on Berardinelli. But I also don’t think what Wilkie did on his roughing penalty merits wishing the guy ill will for the rest of his college career.
  4. I would argue that supplemental discipline is definitely merited here. The hit was violent and reckless and every UND fan would agree that if the tables were turned and it was a Fighting Hawk laid out on the ice, the other guy should be punished.
  5. People complaining about Wilkie’s roughing penalty which wouldn’t cause irreparable damage and wishing him ill will for the rest of his college hockey career but then not acknowledging or saying anything about Bast’s stupid elbow that might cause permanent damage to Berardinelli. It just seems hypocritical to me.
  6. What about Bast’s dirty hit on Berardinelli?
  7. Yah I guess but put yourself in his place. He was rarely used his sophomore season, he transfers and is getting plenty of ice time and he comes back to his former team. I thought he was pretty diplomatic in his comments leading up to the series as well as during his interview during the second intermission. I didn’t see or hear about the snow shower of Scheel so can’t comment about that.
  8. I didn’t take Wilkie’s jersey pop personally. I heard he was so amped up during warm ups that Haviland had to have a word with him to settle him down. He strikes me as a guy who’s pretty emotional and wears his attitude on his sleeve a little bit. Even the UND tv guys were saying that Wilkie didn’t taunt or antagonize UND after his goal. I think that goal was personal for him and he had a right to be excited.
  9. MM, Since you’re never sarcastic, I took what you said as gospel so my bad. Try to bring that wit to the Hoggsbreath in March, as chances are that might be UND fans’ only entertainment that weekend!
  10. The epiphany came to a close January 6th. You should no longer be lighting your Christmas tree.
  11. I don’t quite think the boys got the message this week.
  12. Mercyhurst whoops up on Canisius College, 6-2 in Buffalo.
  13. Shireen Saski just did an in-game interview with Miami coach Blasi and she asked him about the penalty trouble they’ve had thus far in the game and he was not exactly warm and friendly with her. Is it me or does he just have an icy disposition?
  14. So far this season, CC has been pretty good in the first period but really bad in the second periods of games. Oftentimes they’ll either be tied or leading after one, then fall behind in the second, forced to chase in the third.
  15. I’ll personally buy you a drink at the Hoggsbreath in March if UND puts up 7 goals on Leclerc!
  16. I hear ya. I was merely pointing out what I observed, not making any judgements about it. Trust me, it was tough to watch!
  17. It felt like Canisius played rope-a-dope this weekend with us. They’d bend but not break and then would pounce and create odd man rushes when our D men were either out of position or if all 5 of our guys were gassed and couldn’t get back fast enough to back check. Appears to have been a good coaching strategy by Coach Large.
  18. I only recall UND’s forwards getting behind Canisius’ defense once all weekend and it happened in the 2nd period of the Saturday game and we got stoned. Canisius was opportunistic and scored on a couple of odd man rushes (the goal they scored Friday was a thing of beauty but shouldn’t have happened).
  19. I’m sure Wilkie is looking forward to playing UND but he can’t really brag about CC playing any better. If anyone has been as inconsistent as North Dakota, it’s the Tigers.
  20. Infusion Brewery is really good. So good that we bought a growler so every time we go to Omaha for a hockey series, we be sure to fill it up to take back home with us. They make a great Vanilla Bean Blonde. I’m no beer snob, I typically drink Extra Gold, Coors Light, etc. but I love this particular craft beer. And their Benson location isn’t too far from Baxter Arena. http://infusionbrewing.com/?age-verified=a0e38907e1
  21. Since it’s unlikely UND will make it to the Frozen Faceoff this year, should we honor your broomball team instead at the annual Hoggsbreath gathering?
  22. I don’t know if I agree with how Monty handled it but when DU played poorly and/or lost, he called people out in his post game interviews.
  23. Curious: What would Hak be saying publicly if he were the coach right now. Would he be showing some anger and frustration or would he be engaging in the typical coach speak?
