You nailed it. Schlossman did a good piece on the subject oh, 6-9 months ago. One of the biggest advocates of going to a higher seed home site set up is Denver’s David Carle. He was one of those interviewed for the article. He even said, he could sit back on his hands and say nothing because DU’s proven they can be successful under the current format so to me, that carries a lot of credibility with me when he’s a proponent of change. The small schools, however, feel it would be too big of a disadvantage to have to play in a packed barn of a bigger program. Short sighted IMO. Yah, the smaller schools have knocked off a higher ranked team from time to time but overall, it’s not like they’re having massive success under the current format of playing in three quarters empty dead arenas either. Plus, if I’m a player at a smaller school, I think I’d rather play under the bright lights of a big time program in front of a packed house and love the opportunity to silence the home crowd with an upset victory.

We went to the Loveland regional three years ago and had a blast. They did it at the Budweiser Events Center where the Colorado Eagles play and it’s a fantastic arena. Seats around 7k and feels like a college hockey arena. Having Denver hosting also helped attendance and atmosphere. Saw a great regional final between Denver and Duluth. They’re set to host a regional next year, I believe as well.

So did Western earn themselves a #1 seed and will they likely end up in Fargo with the Gophers as I believe I heard either Alex or Starman say?

As a CC fan, I’ll be watching closely as Mayotte has a lot of holes to fill and as of late has shown he will tap into the transfer portal. Losing some key forwards due to graduation and early signings, I’ll be curious to see if any UND players end up in Colorado Springs.

I’m actually relieved Bump wasn’t seriously hurt. My first thought when he went down the tunnel was great-he’s going to miss the tournament and Western will get bounced. He deserves to participate for a national championship, that guy is so good.
