CC will be without Kaiden Mbereko in net along without Zach Wisdom and Drew Montgomery due to injuries. Mbereko didn’t return last night for the third period.
-
And then once Sneddon got fired, he transferred to Western. Huge get for them.

Alex Bump is so good. Big, heavy solid forward with a knack for scoring. I’m still scratching my head wondering how and why he originally committed to Vermont. Where the heck were the Gophers, or even SCSU, Mankato, and Duluth for that matter?

Veremyev’s name kept getting called throughout the entire game, for better or worse. He’s very aggressive and likes to chirp. Did anyone see the Caponi hit on Veremyev? It happened with about 8 minutes left in the second period. Veremyev skated from behind the net with the puck and was going to throw a backhand on net and he had his head down and Caponi skated in and tee’d him up with a big check. Veremyev laid on the ice for a good minute or more before Mbereko was able to freeze the puck. After the period ended, Mayotte challenged for a major penalty and the refs reviewed it but determined there was no head contact. Couple things. One, in my biased opinion, that hit was up high on Veremyv’s chin area. I think it was a penalty. If it were any other Denver player who laid the hit, I could give them the benefit of the doubt. However, given it was Connor Caponi, I can only assume he targeted a vulnerable player because that’s his game, he’s done it time and again. I haven’t seen a guy who aims to hurt people that much since Joey Abate from Omaha. I’d be curious what you all think given you don’t have the bias of being CC fans. Was it a legal check? Or should a 5 and a game have been called?

Maybe if we win tomorrow. If not for Mbereko, especially what he did in the first period to keep it a scoreless tie. DU outshot CC something like, 14-2. Naturally, that goon Caponi with another high hit on a vulnerable player, Veremyev. God, I can’t stand that guy.

And I’d also argue that playing in the o zone leads to more power play opportunities. (Edit)

Any predictions on this weekend’s NCHC quarterfinal series besides UND’s? I got Denver winning in two games. As good as CC’s played them at Robson this year, they looked like the Haviland era Tigers up at Magness and I don’t see that changing this weekend. CC will be lucky if they can pot more than two or three goals this weekend (am I sandbagging here a little bit?). I hope I’m proven wrong and CC can move on to St. Paul but it would happen in three. I can’t see DU not winning at least one game at Magness. ASU over Duluth but in three. Duluth earned 6 of the 12 possible points in their 4 games during regular season. I kinda hope Duluth wins this series. If ASU loses, their season is over. Western and Jan. The Broncos made relatively easy work of the Huskies in Kalamazoo last month but Isak Posch could keep St. Cloud in it and they stole a win at Denver lately, where Posch made 38 saves. I like Western but in three games. Could the Broncos get hot goalied in this series? UND at UNO. In my highly unbiased opinion, UND will win the series in three just like they did a couple of years ago. The analytics in my head just can’t fathom the Mavericks winning this series so therefore let this prediction be true. Edit: Duluth took 5 of 12 points in head to head against ASU.

I love the moxie! I hope you’re proven right!

Truer words never been spoken-did so much with so little. A first class coach.
-
That AIC coach should take his talents to another D-I program.
-
Notre Dame bounced the Gophers today. Gophers still solidly in the tournament but they’re saying they may have jeopardized their shot at a number 1 seed.
-
CC took 9 of them last night. Miracle they only gave up 1 power play goal.

This morning, we went back and watched the third period of the CC/DU game we’d recorded and my wife looked up some stats and commented that UND and CC were one and two in the league in penalties. I didn’t realize that UND had taken that many penalties until she read off the stats. That’s gotta be contributing factor to where UND (and CC for that matter) ended up in the standings where they did.
-
For real? I was wondering about the Blue Jays given they’re a high flying shooting team and I believe Steven Ashworth is a senior this year if I’m not mistaken.
-
Barely. God, I don’t recall seeing DU on their heels against the Tigers in over a decade.
-
Denver on their heels now. Nine minutes to play.
-
4-2, Denver
-
Do shots everytime he says those things?
-
Lol truth
-
Would someone mind posting a summary of Berry’s post game comments?
-
Hate to pick your opponent but I feel UND has a better shot at advancing to St. Paul by traveling to Omaha than Denver. But yah, either way, it’s going to be difficult.
-
My wife would divorce me if she knew I was now rooting for Denver. We’re at the game right now.
-
If anyone wants some fireworks, after the UND game, turn the channel over to the CC/DU game. Dirty, chippy both ways.
-
That was such BS. They should’ve let the EGF trip go after their no call a few minutes prior on Cathedral. Glad you got to be there in person, I bet it was loud! I watched on tv which I feel fortunate to have been able to do.

I love the Gwoz. Good guy and helluva coach. I thought CC should’ve gone after him when they relieved Owens of his duties but our incompetent A.D. hired his pal Haviland instead which set the program back to the dark ages.
