Cc getting curb stomped now, 6-2.
-
3-1, Minnesota

Sounds like a leaker by Mbereko based on CC’s play by play guy Ken Landau and it’s been all Gophers this period.
-
That’s the word on the street. Motzko wanted to get his star players back from the World Juniors for the series. Also, CC is still on winter break so they’re planning on staying in Minnesota for the entire week as they play at Duluth this weekend. Don’t have to worry about missing class by being gone the whole week.

It was a game play. Wisdom was going in on a breakaway when the Minnesota defender got a body on him from behind and pushed him into Close. Unfortunate things happen all the time resulting in player injuries. Good non-call.
-
I can live with that if it was legit. Wouldn’t want CC’s or UND’s opponents benefitting from a bad goal so can’t be upset if the refs waived off ours.
-
Was it a good call?
-
Now CHN removed the goal and it’s back to 1-1.

2-1, CC. Veremyev with a power play goal.

I went over to GPL last night after the game to try to get a sense of the thoughts and feelings of Gopher fans. They were not pleased with Justin Close and think the other goalie should start tonight. Also, they were not happy with all the D zone turnovers they gave up, and rightfully so. CC had so many good opportunities off turnovers by the Gophers. They’re nervous also because they fell to 14th in the Pairwise.
-
They’re televising it locally down here in the Springs but I “think” I saw somewhere that the games will be on the B1G+ streaming (I didn’t even know that was a thing).

How much rope does Gabinet have there at Omaha? More than Bergeron at Miami?
-
CC at Mariucci for a series with the Gophers starting today and concluding tomorrow. The team will stay in Minnesota for the rest of the week as they travel up 35w for their conference road series against Duluth.
-
So any changes with the line combos tonight?

And then the officiating crew doesn’t know the rules of icing. That blown icing call with 6 seconds left really screwed over Finland if you think about it. Had the official gotten it right and waited to blow his whistle until after the puck had crossed the far red line, then there probably would’ve been 4 maybe 5 ticks left on the clock and an offensive zone faceoff for Finland. Instead, the officials huddle and determine they messed up so they do a center ice faceoff with 6 seconds to play. You ask the Finns what they would’ve rather had-a center ice faceoff with 6 seconds or an O zone faceoff with 4 or 5 seconds. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very happy the U.S. won the game but I hate seeing bad calls/missed calls that could potentially affect the outcome.
-
Makeup call because those officials knew they made a weak one against the Finns. My god, that was a terrible call (both were terrible calls but more so the one against Finland)

Mbereko named NCHC goaltender of the month.
-
Wow. What a penalty to call in sudden death three on three overtime of the quarterfinals of the World Juniors.
-
Lol I was thinking the same thing! The game plan for our opponents the rest of the way is to get it to overtime!
-
So true. And the assistant coach for Minot State, David Zimmerman was my pee wee coach in Grand Forks way back in the late 80’s! He has a very distinguished career as a player and a coach for the U.S. hearing impaired national team. Born and raised in Minot, he coached in Devils Lake for many years. Cool seeing him all these years later.
-
This was really cool to see at the end of the game. CC Tiger Nikolai Charchenko and the Minot head coach embraced and took some photos. Charchenko played his junior hockey for the Minot Minotauros. The Minot coach is also the goalie coach for them.
-
CC’s best player Laba just took an elbow to the head as he was going down. And to me, this is why you don’t schedule games like this. Not sure what the upside is if you’re CC.

Minot’s actually playing pretty well in the second. They scored a nice goal short side.
